  5. Well done guys the pillies are a good all round bait for everythig Chris.
  6. I love catching bonito and use them for fishing baits plus eating. If you are to keep the fish for the table you need to treat them in the same way as tailor, bleeding and icing down asap.Don,t bother buying them from the fish shops as they are just good for crab bait in my opinion. Cooking.(few options i use.) I cut the fillets off and put in the smoker ,then i toss the white meat flakes into a salad. De boned, skinned and i also slice out the dark meat through centre of fish is great steamed or fish cocktails. Sashimi is definately awsome with these fish if used the same day. Chris.

  14. Hi Raiders Was out on Saturday wide of Botany with some mates chasing Marlin on lures. Trolled out past the Fads off Botany then off to the Twelve Mile then off to Browns and beyond for zeros. Stayed out wide to just after lunch before heading in with a Southerly that blew up strong but hopes were high. Managed to hook on in 80 fathoms to a Black Marlin which brought much joy and put up a great fight. Also managed another strike in closer in 70 fathoms not long after. I'm glad we stayed out even with the Southerly blowing us around, it was definately well worth it. Can't wait to get out there again. Chris
  15. Cracker fish mate. Great family effort chris.
  16. Hi Raiders, Out off Cronulla today with Meng (aka gonfishing) in search of some fish for the last trip for 2012. Headed down along the National Park and tried several flathead drifts until we found a productive spot which we gathered a nice feast of Tiger Flathead and Bluespot Flathead. Plenty of leatherjackets about biting the lines off but we were lucky to find one spot where they didn't cause us much trouble. The rest of the afternoon we decided to jig up some squid and chase the kingies around Bate Bay which we found plenty of but they were all undersized rats, no keepers today, also keeping a couple of the squid for the table. Happy New Year fishraiders. Chris
