  1. Hi Greg. +1 for less drilling. I have not had a problem on my boat clipping the transducer cable the same as you have. I can get bottom readings 500+ meters. But I do have a large capacitor (suppressor) installed to give a clean power supply for sensitive electronics. Some of the older outboards produced a lot more electrical interference than the modern ones but most of that would be on the +ve rather then through the transducer cable. You have run back to the battery and that should help a lot If you are getting noise I’d go suppressor next. I think it’s time for a water test to see how your rig is performing. cheers Zoran
  2. Arm wrestling kingies always makes for a good day ! Great report thanks. cheers Zoran
  3. ....especially the unsilenced bark and growl of a 200hp Merc 2st.... 94 decibels cheers Zoran
  4. oooh... a red one would so nicely match the side of Barrycuda ! Cheers Zoran (prior to covid hairy faciatis)
  5. Yummo. Good tucker great relaxing day on water by sounds of it. I swear I have seen that albatross before !!! Couple of times at barrenjoey wide and the other time at Browns. Yup. Just looked at picture again it’s the same one for sure... cheers Zoran
  6. This side looks like the gears that drive the counter and also the ratchet anti reverse. If you can’t source an exact replacement friction plate you could probs get away with a thin stainless steel washer and carbontex washers either side of it (pack out with carbontex to the same thickness as the friction washer). Can you send some close up pictures of the handle side. On most riggers all the tension setting stuff is done on the handle side. They are largely designed to be one hand operation. Cheers Zoran
  7. My thoughts - top stuff 👍 @quintrex52 - I haven’t gone this year due to all sorts of commitments- but from what I’ve read it’s bean JB all the way. cheers Zoran
  8. Hi Greg, I presume you have a single battery set up. Do you have a battery isolation switch installed? If you do then this "could" replace the toggle switch, otherwise the positive wire will be live all the time - which is generally not advised in boats. Also as you plug and unplug you could create a small spark/surge which could damage the sensitive GPS electronics. And yes, I'd recommend you run both the positive and negative back to the battery. Lots of discussion and advice on Fishraider regarding wiring up boats and the additional considerations if they are alloy - just use the search. Cheers Zoran
  9. hahaha ... you guys are funny .... obviously they may be your offshore night target species ... me I'm too scared to be offshore at night so I like to stay in the beautiful Hawkesbury estuary and focus on hairtail .. jew ... bream .... etc Here's an example of an overnight bream from the hawkesbury ... 45cm ...one of 4 caught that night ... But all way off topic to the OP .... hahaha cheers Z
  10. Yes. Flush a bit longer for peace of mind. flush with fresh water supply. Don’t over think this or worry about it too much. Just think of all the moored boats with outboards how do they flush? Think of all the guys whose fish overnight at times (like me). Do it as soon as you can and flush a bit longer. It’s worked for me. 20+ years on current outboard. cheers Zoran
  11. Yup. Great news. Heard this on the radio this morning. Bit convoluted but better then being a B-double $ wise. cheers Zoran
  12. Love the idea Baz!!! I bumped into @MerryFisher pulling out my boat at Roseville ramp the other day and if I hadn’t asked we’d never had met face to face. I’d back a pennant!! cheers Zoran
  13. Hey Gordo, actually this time nope. I was trying to slow jig 200m down on the side though and that kept me busy enough. Also now that we are using 2 deep drop rigs, I've realised they are facing straight back a bit more then I like -- there is not much separation between the lines and they did cross over on one of the drops. Until I angle to rods out a bit more, I think drifting another line down the middle would be asking for more trouble.... especially on a hook up. Cheers Zoran PS - I've already ordered 2 rod holder swivel inserts which will be a simple fix for the rod angles.
  14. Great first report Wazza !!! ... you and Gil are certainly superkeen fishos .... I don't think I know any others that would actually dismantle their boat to get to the fishing grounds ... that's got to be a first ! 🤔 Nice job on the release.... but please make sure you leave some at those grounds for ME !!!! Cheers Zoran
  15. Cheers Wazza ( @Fishingwazza2019) .... good to see you on the water and on here mate. There'll be other Brown's sessions for sure. Z
  16. Cheers ... Thanks so much @New Signing !!!
  17. The sheet i was looking at comes as 10mm or 15mm ... beyond that I think it will be too thick. Cheers and THANKS Z
  18. Great stuff - I think this will be my way forward. Regarding edges - I plan to use this for the side pockets, so yes was thinking of painting the cut edge or trimming with split PVC pipe or PVC channel (Bunnings carries the PVC square channel to fit over 12 and 16mm particle board)..... Final question - does the material have a bit of flex or will it crack if slightly bent into a gentle curve? I think I have about a 3cm deflection across 1.5-2m. Thanks Z
  19. Sorry about the trouble the link is causing - it downloads the specification sheet PDF file. Here is the link to the website, the PDF is in the resources tab: https://www.cphgroup.com.au/store/c-144-substrates/c-443-celuka-board/c-444-endurex-hardened-pvc-sheet/p-607-endurex-hardened-pvc-sheet-white I'll have a search for simona board on the web. It sounds similar to the PVC endurex stuff ... . Cheers Z
  20. Thanks Antony - yes a case of covid inspired hairy faciatis since we last met. cheers Z
  21. Thanks Jason.... fixed it now. Cheers Z
  22. Hey @New Signing, great work above. Doing mods and adding to my rig is something I can relate to and enjoy quite a lot. I notice in the pictures above you are doing some work in the rear cockpit area. I have vinyl trim covered plywood which forms the side pockets under the gunnels and extends to just above the floor providing the toe hold space there. The vinyl has stood up really well, however, the backing plywood is starting to deteriorate in places. It looks like you are reworking your side pockets in ply with epoxy flow coat covering - am I seeing that correctly? I've been toying with doing that, but also searching for a material that is water, rot and UV proof that I could work with DIY wood working tools (circular saw, router etc) - so I could just cut to shape and bolt back into place using existing fixtures. I think I found a PVC based product that may do the job and it occurred to me you'd probs be familiar with this material given your signage biz. This is the spec sheet. https://www.cphgroup.com.au/store/product/product/getProductAttachmentFile?attachment_id=7000 I could probably cut everything I need from a single 2400x1200 sheet. I was thinking of using either the 10mm thickness about 16kg/sheet or 15mm thickness about 23kg/sheet depending on the mechanical strength of the stuff. I have no idea on the cost per sheet. Do you have any experience with this material? Do you think it would be suitable? Appreciate your insights. Cheers Zoran
  23. Thanks Dieter.... that beak experience was a while back .... I've hooked up since but have not managed to get them to the boat ... for me a beak has always been a by catch - last hookup I was targeting dollies at the FAD ... maybe this summer it's time to go and specifically target them - well anyway its definitely time to repeat the experience. Cheers Zoran
  24. Very Nice ! .... seriously wish I was out there.... thanks Cheers Zoran
  25. Yes ... its deep and looks even deeper coz we are so short ! .... agree 100% everything is a trade off on boats - I just have the attitude to work with it and enjoy ! Agree 100% about putting out the trolling gear - I actually had the gear onboard in case we bagged out on deep stuff, but we had commitments in the evening so had to race back and it was a harsh 30-40km/h bash back to heads. Re holding on to a beak ... it's doable - here's a report from 2015 - ffwd video to 6:50 ... I just make sure to pack a crew with long arms along with all the other gear 🤣 Hey @Rey05, yes its a Baratech cap given to me by a good buddy of mine .... he features in the above Stripey video... infact there are 2 fridgies in that video .... so although I'm not a fridgie ... maybe hanging around them has rubbed off to make me look like one ! Cheers Zoran
