  1. I think Salmon are a great fight, especially when you can get one to take a popper, watching them chase it and slam it down with a strong run... followed by a bit of acrobatics... Certainly beats catching Bream off a pier... Great write up mate, you matched the hatch!
  2. Nice feed! If you don't mind me asking which side of Lion Island?
  3. I believe I ran into Matt from Bait N Go months ago up on the Northern Beaches, he was kind enough to give me a tub of the glow worms and told me that they were coming soon. I used them and seemed to get a pretty good response in bites. Really happy to hear they are almost here and sponsoring the Site! Congratulations. Big thanks to Bait N Go & Frogley's Offshore to supporting the site & it's community! Cheers, Mark
  4. njsconst! I was just there last week with the misses. Such a beautiful place.- We stayed at the Breakas in Port Villa. I had intended to get out on a boat with some help from boatart but unfortunately I couldn't plan it around our booked activities. We noticed the "tourist hotspots" like Port Villa had recovered quickly, although no more than 10 minutes out were still struggling. It was really full on. I was very happy to donate some money to Lelepa Island village to help the local school, I was also happy to be spending money with the local tour companies and hearing about what our spending was doing for their local community. The resort next to where we stayed was still closed, some missing parts of the roof, missing doors, shutters missing etc. I can hardly imagine what it would of been like for the locals when it hit! Awesome idea donating some lures
  5. Ed.... How did you get yourself and your gear to the pontoon?
  6. Thanks guys! Not going to lie I'm pretty excited.. Now I just need to organise a massage or something for the better half so she doesn't flip out when I tell her I'm running off to go fishing
  7. Hey Raiders, Last minute decision to head off to Vanuatu at the end of this month for my anniversary with the girlfriend. Obviously the first thing that came to mind was BIG FISH, FISHING! I missed heading out when we were in Fiji last year so I won't be missing out this time! Does anyone have any suggestions on a good charter/ boat they have used or know is good? We are staying @ the Breakas in Pango.. Thanks ladies & gents.
  8. I love that "not a lot" turns into a legal kingie on the table! Nice work Yowie. As always we appreciate your entertaining reports.
  9. This post just screams excitement! We were out 2 Saturdays ago and couldn't find anything bigger than a 42cm bream. Well done mate!
  10. Bundy, I just bought the same one you mentioned above and lined all the seals with a little silicone..Seemed to extend it's life 10 fold.. The INOX is a good idea too!
  11. That's a fat Wobby! Glad to hear you managed to keep away from the bitey end....
  12. I thought PE stood for Poly-Ethylene, being the material the braid was made of?
  13. What a beautiful story and amazing restoration to go with it. Congratulations on the maiden voyage. It's been said before but she looks brand new!
  14. I've caught a number of 60+ bad boys in the same spot Salty. Nice work!
  15. Awesome 3 legals would put Kingfish on your plate for the rest of the week! Pickles, what time of year do you usually target them till in the Harbour ?
  16. I can vouch for the Garlic and Parmesan marinade.. used it on some old thigh chicken fillets I had and caught a fair few decent bream out of Narrabeen Lagoon.. Although the smell was off putting
  17. Solid fish mate! Perfect to make some Jewfish candy slabs.
  18. Wow. Nice work! Glad to see the biggens are still around.
  19. +1 to the Black Magic tough trace. I've got the 30lb on my beach rig and it hasn't let me down yet!
  20. You can put a fair bit of hurt on a fish with a 50/30lb set up... Provided it's a solid hookup, which it usually is with live baiting as the predator will take it with a fair bit of haste. That 2 minutes of excitement is what keeps us going back for more! I'm sure you'll be closer to landing it next time! Cheers, M
  21. Wow that Trevally! That's a thumper. Yeh we have experienced the same thing at CG but with hire boat heroes flying around the place trying to chase the boiling water.. all they managed to do is drop hooked fish and scare the bait ball down. Idiots. I've also encountered LB issues at CG where the divers were intentionally cutting peoples line. Sometimes I wonder where these people learn their lack of manors and respect for others from.... Not to worry. A day fishing with an idiot in sight is better than a days work.!
  22. Thanks lads. I think I might look into trying to collect some beach worms myself, they certainly seemed popular snacks! Ha Beachwormer nice try bud.
  23. Fantastic catch Landbased! Surface lures really are awesome when you see the fish trailing the lure and then they strike!
