  1. Unfortunately it happens quite often up here. Considering the vast expanse of the area with plenty of places to drop your pots, some people just find opportunity to poach overwhelming. It’s a real shame, like the toilet paper fiasco, there should be plenty for everyone. Let’s hope your deterrent works for you! cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Good stuff steveooo! It’s a beautiful part of the world. Glad you had a good time up here! cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Not sure if they’ve made there way down there yet but I know they do frequent the area. Seriously though, bugger SWR. Drive up to Coffs and try there! I wish I could go, still dealing with kids sports!
  4. I wouldn’t even bother trying SWR bar if you’ve never been there before. It can be dangerous at the best of times and is a long bar. If you don’t have the experience, go with someone that does first! I’d try somewhere like crowdy first and try trolling livies around the fads. cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Haha! You just have to be out there having a go! 💪
  6. Just hit me up when you move here! I’m sure I’ll show you what your boat is capable of and we might catch a few snapper is the process! 👍 Do you have a 4 x 4??? Then you could also launch at Boat Harbour and be off shore in minutes! cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Thanks bolts! No mate. I target the same reef areas regardless of the season or time of day. The key is to look for the structure that the bait is holding in based on the currents. If you find the bait sitting on one side of the structure, that’s where you’ll usually find your fish! cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Generally depends on water quality and temperatures. I haven’t seen them as familiar catches off Sydney but I’m sure they do venture there. The one constant up here is if there’s lots of garfish, there’s plenty of longtail. cheers scratchie!!!
  9. I’m not hearing about them up here in Port Stephens yet, so they might be a little while off! cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Cheers Dieter. We didn’t head too wide, just looking inshore 100-120m. Fad was 26.8 but lifeless Cheers bro! Just gotta be at the right place at the right time! Thanks 🙏 Start counting haha 😂
  11. Leave it with me and I’ll see what I can come up with. Maybe only two weeks notice though, that way we can look at the long range forecast!
  12. Thanks Jon. I’d be crying if I only caught them once every couple of years. Nah Mick didn’t see it. I must have went the other way! Damn, we didn’t get Tony a photo.
  13. Cheers. Skip was about 4-5kg. Put an initial decent scream. Got our attention! Thanks Adrian. Might see if we can sort something out in April if there’s interest! Cheers Rick! 76cents
  14. Thanks mate! Pm sent Thanks champ! It was awesome just to be out on the water and the fish played ball Cheers Peter. No signs of life inshore at all even though we found 26.8 deg water 🤔 Thank you!
  15. Gday raiders, Its been a while between fish. Too many kids sporting commitments and then the weather turns sour when I have the chance. So today, I managed to get out with @back cruncher and his mate! Filled up with livies pretty quickly and headed north. It was smooth sailing with small seas and very little wind. Hit the mark and our initial drift was all over the place. Reset our drift and soon the fish started coming. Mick was on first and a nice one at that. Then his mate was on, first time really fishing with soft plastics and nailed a PB at 65cms. Then I managed to hook up but it wasn’t a snapper, it’s a king and it wasn’t stopping for anyone. Had to re-rig and the boys caught a few more for the box. Then I cast out again and bang I’m on, good snapper and used every bit of current to give me grief but fortunately the hook was set well and was able to land it. It was then time for plan B and work some lures to the fad before heading home. We were trolling for about an hour having a nice chat before the diver screams off! We give the rod to Micks mate and after a short battle up comes a decent skipjack which was soon returned to the water! Tried the fad but no bait and lifeless before heading home at 40 plus knots in magnificent conditions. Top day out water! Thanks again Mick 👍 cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Awesome capture! Well done 👍 Your first marlin is definitely one for the man cave! cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Giddy up Bazza! About bloody time you got out there and caught something! Well done mate.. And thanks for sending me a pic while I was working. It took my mind off the grind. Congrats on a PB. cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Try reading this, it may help a little.......
  19. Awesome work Dieter! Definitely a task and a half landing a kingy from the stones! Congrats 👍 cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Great stuff KC. That’s a decent flatly for sure. I dare say the kings will be back when the water settles. Just keep getting out there! 👍 cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Wow Donna! My god have they grown up and how much older do I look! 😢 We have really enjoyed the socials over the many years and it’s a shame there isn’t more of them. Teaching kids to be social is a big part of their development. Whether it be through sport, communities functions, schooling etc. My kids really enjoy competing and we always travel as a family, so win win! Thanks for the photos. It took me back a few years! cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Thanks. They love their sports. Family always first. But I do enjoy me time fishing too! 😄 Thanks BN.
