  1. Thanks Paul. Port should be in full swing then with plenty of species on offer!
  2. Looks a likely spot rick! It’s the only type of freshwater fishing I do. Great fun on the yak! Fish are always a bonus! cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Haha! You definitely don’t know Baz!!! 😝😝😝
  4. The FK is what I catch most of my snapper with in the 4000 model. If they are now $199 I’m buying a few of them!! cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Haha! Very clever. But 10 minutes after I caught that fish, Rick rang me after I sent him a photo! Lol 😝 so he already knew, that I knew that he knew where is was caught! Haha haha haha 😂
  6. Love your work yowie! Those eagle rays go hard don’t they! We were fishing for flatty last year in shallow water and my son hooked a good fish and said we need to chase this dad. I’ve never had to chase a flatty before! Lol. It was an eagle ray. They are funny looking things! Enjoy 😊 cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Thanks George! Mate the weekend was pretty ordinary weather wise so I was happy to be working. Same setup I always use! 7ft 4-7kg rod 4000 reel 20lb braid and leader, 1/4oz 5/0jighead
  8. Is that a glow stick? What do you use that for?
  9. Nice work! Sounds rather chaotic in a good way! Some good fish there for one session! Well done 👍 cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Cheers mate! Thank you! Always a good day out with woodsy! Haha! Yeah funny head on it! The fish I mean 😂 Sorry BN. Just another day in the office. We certainly have a lot more water to play with than you do! I hope things improve down your way.
  11. Thanks mate! Nah it ranks a little further down than that!
  12. I should be out then too! Let me know! Only a head it’s mother would love! Lol Cheers Nick! Might be the same place you got your PB! 🤔
  13. I’m an honest fisho Rick, so he was actually from somewhere else! We only fished two spots today. The first produced one fish and the second the rest! You have to move to find them!
  14. The breakwall is always a hit and miss affair! I’ve seen some of the best fish from Port Stephens come from that wall. I’ve also encountered plenty of nil sessions. I’m not a bream fisho but I’ve had my best ever session there too! One tip, early high tide mornings are best!
  15. The bump on who’s head? Lol 😝 Mate, if you look through my posts, that’s really the first bump snapper I’ve caught at the island!
  16. Thanks mate! I changed leader to 30lb after getting smoked twice and couldn’t entice the bite! 🤔 I think the snapper worked me out! Lol 😝
  17. Hit up member @tyrone07. It’s his backyard and always manages a feed! cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Thanks mate! Cheers Dieter! Believe it or not, it’s actually 12cm short of my pb! It’s a good fish and I’m pretty happy with it on 20lb. It is the first fish over 80cm I’ve caught with a bump like that at Broughton!
  19. Thanks! We actually find the bigger models in Spring but more plentiful in winter. Let’s hope mate! In the 80’s! Thanks Baz! Cheers champ! Unfortunately we lost a few today as well, so there’s a few with piercings out there! Mate I feel your pain! My shoulders are sore too but for a different reason! 😂😂 Thanks Adem! The fish has a big hump too! Lol 😝
  20. G’day raiders, Where do I start???? Ok, so Monday. Woodsy and I were going to head out so I went and checked the weather. Conditions were forecast fishable but I looked at the ocean and it wasn’t right, so we canned it. Made plans to look at Friday! I had another mate and raider @tyrone07 keen as well. So we plan to get out today but Tyrone decides to bring up his boat with a mate and thought we could have a little Comp to keep us focused. The only problem is he only made it half way due to a collapsed wheel bearing! Poor bastard! 😫 Well that’s not stopping me and woodsy from going, so off we went. Collected a few livies that were very picky. Great conditions and we hit our mark. A few drifts nothing! Plenty of bait showing, good water (maybe to clear) good drift but no takers! Reset the drift and finally woodsy comes up tight! A nice panny for the box. Another boat turns up and anchors on our drift so time to move. Well, we pull up and there’s a stack of kings under our boat. Great fun on the snapper gear but all rats and basically just wasting our time. So we venture on closer to structure and get a good drift going. Plenty of bait on the sounder and then showering the surface. To be honest, I can’t recall every fish in order but they started chewing and chewing hard! We both lost some really really good fish and landed some nice takers too! Although I did manage to catch whiskers but a few of his brothers were to good for us! Packed up by 1030 and left them biting! Another great day out in Port Stephens! Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Sounds like a trip dreams are made of! Nice work and thanks for the report! cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Admis, Firstly welcome to Fishraider. Secondly as a new member it is generally best to work your way into the forum rather than ask for specific spots! Ive spent nearly 20 years and countless, fruitless hours fishing this area. Casting, wading, climbing, waiting and trying to learn the area. And you want to come on here as our newest member and ask me to give you exact locations so you don’t waste your time??? If you’ve read all my posts the keys are there! Go find them yourself!!! Scratchie mod team!
  23. Very eerie morning in Nelson Bay this morning Stay safe everyone and let’s hope conditions are much better than predicted.
