  1. All I can say is “BIG SNAPPER “ 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
  2. We sure do rick! Thats why fishraider is a great resource to all. Rick and I often speak or text each other. What’s biting, current, water temp etc! Where are livies? And yes, we share spots too! That’s because our shared knowledge can set you up for a successful trip!
  3. Nice work Tyrone! A pretty spot on report of the days events. We were deadset up against it. No swell, drift, current, wind but still managed a feed and lost 3 good snaps to the reef! Your longtail on snapper gear was certainly a highlight and you played it like a pro! It was a shame it took one look at my head when I tried to gaff it and dived down making it out of reach. I did touch the leader so it counts in my book! It’s also a shame that you won’t make the snapper catch up because your off to Europe! Poor choice 😝😝😝 To add, your mate got his first snapper and on sps too! That’s gold! 👍 Always a pleasure mate! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Nice feed indeed. Sunrise is definitely the best part of the day! And to be on the water to see it with a rod in hand is even better! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Good stuff mate! That’s the spirit. Preparation ✅ Now just bring the good weather with you! Cheers scratchie!!!

    Hi

Welcome back Col. I certainly look forward to your reports too! Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Great stuff Sam! Good to see some one out there chasing reds! Did you try any shallow reefs with sps? Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Nice work Pete! Definitely sounds better than sitting in front of the tele! Some nice squid there! Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Mate, they are lucky if they get tomorrow’s weather right! 16 days out would be a deadset miracle!
  10. Yep, good old Ray is a gun fisho of that area! Not sure if he’s on here much lately. I had two magic trips away with ray to Darwin. Champion bloke! Hopefully he sees this and responds! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Sunday and Monday looks good outside! The snapper should be chewing their heads off after this southerly push! Giod luck whatever you decide! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Awesome mate! Glad you had a good time! The Hawkesbury is a beautiful part of the world. Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Catching snapper off the rocks is definitely a difficult target but during the winter period you can hook some real bruts! There’s some good info above! For me this is what works! Look for sandy/weed bottom, depth needs to be at least 10m. Look for early morning and late arvo high tide. Burley is a must. I use a minimum of a 7.2ft rod 20/20 lb mainline leader. Then use a very small running sinker to either a 5/0 J hook or a 1/0 gang hook! Best results I’ve had is on pilchards. Hope that helps! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. What a top report! It’s something that I’ve never done that sort of fishing. That salmon looks like a cracker! And well done on the other captures too! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. I know you do! Your looking at it the wrong way, maybe you could help a few raiders get into the fish!!! 🤔
  16. Thanks mate! I’m sure we could accommodate you on someone’s boat if your keen!
  17. Getting pretty excited as the event draws nearer! I’ll give it one more week and confirm numbers! I’ve started mapping out plenty of areas to fish and have received a heap of maps and stickers from fisheries to hand out! Hopefully I’ll be heading out next Monday in search of a few, just to confirm they are out there! Lol 😝. If anyone wants to be added or removed from the list then please send me a pm! If anyone is still looking for a boat to board then please post here and hopefully we can accommodate all. Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Make sure you cut the blood line out otherwise it will degenerate the flesh. General shelf life is two days in the fridge I believe. As for sashimi, one of the best eating fish there is!
  19. Congrats mate! Cracking fish especially land based. It’s been a great season for them and the ones that have hung around this long are massive! Well done 👏👏👏👏 cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Thanks Jeremy! Well, you’ve been out twice with me chasing snapper! Our first trip saw you land a beauty and your first and the second trip we racked them up! Let’s hope the next trip is a cracker too!
  21. Good time to get a bargain on the FK series! I Use the 4000 for most of my snapper fishing! Beautiful reel. Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Good work Pete! Nice to see your still out there flicking those small lures about! It would have been a great tussle on that outfit! Cheers scratchie!!!
  23. Nice work yowie! The season is definitely changing and that wind cuts straight through you! 🥶 Do you find larger reds in the hacking this time of year? Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. Good on you George and welcome to fishraider! Firstly, I would never leave a fellow boaty stranded anywhere. To us, its just common courtesy. Especially seeing a fellow Haines hunter owner sitting on the sand! The ramp at little beach is fine on most occasions and I’m sure it has seen thousands of boats launched there. The difficulty is like with any ramp in the Bay Area, westerly winds. They affect all the ramps here and can be quite tricky with a hard wind blowing like the other day. Just keep your nose in only and leave your motor in the depths if possible! After our chat at the ramp, I’m glad you joined up and you will love the information and reports this site has to offer. Cheers scratchie!!!
