  1. Haha, do it Sam! I was almost going to give up on you and come down to Sydney 😝 Mate, we all contributed but it was nice to pull in a few good ones! Thanks again bro! Thanks mate! My favourite way to cook them is simple, pan fried with garlic, butter salt and pepper! The family likes them crumbed and shallow fried! The res algae was everywhere but didn’t affect us! There were two marlin ragged up the gibber, hence why we went there for a bit! Drop me a pm next time your up!!!
  2. Cheers. Can’t wait for dinner tonight! Mojo is back baby!!! Keep that net ready Woodsy! Baz, no more excuses. Get out there and let’s see some snapper! Thanks mate! Yep definitely worth the trip up! There coming! Talk to you soon mate!
  3. Nice work yowie! Should be almost time for another trip ay? Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. G’day raiders, Had the opportunity today to head out with two fellow raiders @Woodsy1 and @quintrex52. What plan do we take today?? We left little beach ramp at 430 and then headed to cabbage tree island to collect some bait. The bloody things were picky today, but once they started, they came thick and fast! Now we start to motor towards Broughton in sublime conditions at a rate of 30knots. All the time though going through my head, what plan do we take? Normally, I’m committed but I did bring two marlin rods just incase and with intel given to me last night it only made the decision harder! We arrived at the sisters to find 4 boats already there and one anchored on my mark, so the decision was made to head further up! We got there with only one boat there(far enough away) and a seal lazing on the surface. There was no wind and no drift, hmmmm what to do!!! After some mental anguish, we stick to a very very slow drift and began to cast. Jeremy was the first strike and landed a nice snaps. Woodsy was next and then Woodsy again! I was thinking, here we friggin go again until I finally added one to the bag and then another. After a few more drifts the fish went quite and with the conditions that presented themselves we pushed further north and began to slow troll for marlin! The water was 22.4 and plenty of bait about but no action from the 4 boats that were all trying the same thing! By this stage, the wind kicked up a little and we headed back to Broughton. This was soon to be a great move as there was now a good drift and some chop on the water! Anyway, we started finding a patch and nailing one after the other. We landed plenty but I managed a “string puller” at 60 and a few others as we all added to the bag! Plenty released as well. The wind was now caning through so we decided to hit @rickmarlin62 mark and again I came up tight with 3 in a row I think and another good one at 55. We were now drifting at over 2knots and it was time to pack up and go home! It was a great day out with the boys and we all went home with a feed! Thanks for reading and tight lines all. Cheers scratchie!!! P.s it was good to get one up on Woodsy! Haha
  5. Great stuff Sam. A day with the family and a day brining Home a feed! Perfect 👌 and yes I’m pretty sure that’s a remora! Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. Sounds like an awesome day out. I’m sure your brother in law won’t forget it. Then there’s the bonus of bringing back a nice mixed bag! Top shelf 👍 cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Nice work and well done to the young fella! Where did you go? Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Get that net ready champ! 💪
  9. Congrats to you and the boys rocky! There some cracking fish there! For me, that’s what fishraider is all about! The ability to share information for the common goal of fishing! You were very polite and generously offered me a ride (sorry I had to work) but I’m glad my information was useful. Hopefully now you can apply that technique on other areas you fish! Next time your up this way, drop me a pm and I’ll take you to the good spots! 😝 cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Awesome! 👏👏👏
  11. Good stuff! Nice to know the Bonnie’s are about, that means the pelagics aren’t far away! I also notice that if they are abundant then it’s usually a good marlin season! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Great work! Nothing like seeing a good Broughton Island snapper! Well done! Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. My bad, I miss interpreted what you were saying. I even read it three times! As for my statement! Fish of any size can be great eating if cooked properly! IMO
  14. Your post is confusing? You contradict yourself in the first two sentences. Either way, great fish! In my opinion, all fish are good to eat if prepared and cooked right, regardless of size! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Welcome to fishraider Nikos! As a new member, try using the search engine on this site. It’s a very useful tool and may already have the answers you are looking for! Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Send them out to sea Yowie! Plenty of room out there 😝
  17. Haha Sam! Catching the fish is generally the easy part. Finding them is the hardest! Your dream can become a reality if you tow your boat up this way!!! 😝
  18. We are actually fishing around Broughton Island. All of the snapper I chase is in 8-30m of water. Generally using only soft plastics but sometimes use slimie and yakka fillets! Look for reef structure and drop offs. Then find the bait and you’ll find the fish! Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Actually, neither can I????? Some of my betters reds last year and only one with Woodsy........ Hmmmm???????? 🤔
  20. Don’t be silly. I bet you enjoyed your time on the water as much as I did!!! Great feed amongst that lot! Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Always good to watch a mate get a PB 👍 Maybe, we were in a 6.7m barcrusher. It was horrible water out there! Broughton is ALWAYS an option! Woodsy is on fire baz! Never get idiots at 5am. Haha 😆 A few boats here and there but where caught fish we had it all to ourselves!
  22. Too add to the post, all these fish were caught in the middle of the day, in 10-12m of water! No tide change, dirty water and only a temp of 17.7 deg.
  23. G’day raiders, Well we had a few plans today and had to exercise most of them. Headed out with @Woodsy1 and Jnr scratchie. First, was to collect some bait and the slimies came thick and fast ✅ Second, head out to the fad in the hope of a few dollies. We got there and the water was only 17.5 and lifeless. Now came decision time??? Either push on out further to the shelf and try for a beak or head back to Broughton to try our luck at some snaps or kings! Couldn’t raise anyone on the radio to get a report from the car park so we headed back in. Plan C- drift the sisters, find the bait and anchor up and throw lightly weighted fillets down a burley trail. We found the bait alright, thousands of them filled the screen but after an hour or so not one taker! So we got Jnr to fill up on some slimies and change spot. We got there and the young fella was feeling sick so he went in the cabin. Woodsy and I just kept casting and finally run into a patch of snapper! Woodsy has shown recently how good of an apprentice he is and today was no exception! He killed it and managed to upgrade his PB landing a stonker 83cm snaps! I helped out with a few pannies and he added more fish with every drift. Then he hooks another monster that did not give him a chance and dusted him on the reef after a strong run. Caught a few more and called it quits with a bag of 10 or more already on ice! Ended up a great day out yet again and another PB for Woodsy! Well done champ! Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. No game report to put in! Went to Fad and it was 17.5 and lifeless. Didn’t push on further and no chatter on the radio all day! Will have to try again soon! But we brained some snapper 😝
  25. Haha, I hope there is something to report! 😬
