I've caught them with 6/0s believe it or not. But they were by catch when targeting snapper. If I was targeting them is be using a 1/0 or 2/0 long shank as they have decent teeth.

I use fish track and find it pretty good. It's easy to use. It does crash my iPhone sometimes but I'm running an old one. I haven't had a rip chart subscription so can't really compare them to be fair.

I'd go for kings instead if it were me They have started pulling a lot of the fads in already and the tuna are a long long long way past the fad.

I'm not sure what the differences are over the elite as I've never used one. If you have a modern engine you can hook it up to the hds via a nmea and engine interface cable and get real time information off your engine. Fuel flow tachometer engine temp trim etc. Yes you need two transducers The structure scan transducer is long and skinny. About 200mm long. This will give you down and side scan. Then you need a normal tranducer and depending on the type of fishing you do would depend on the size you get. I've got the 50/200 but on a good day I can pick up browns. Id like to get the 1 kW tranny but they are about a $1000 so might put up with mine a bit longer. It is pretty simple to use as well and when you troll all day like I do and your mates love playing with all the settings. It's pretty easy to return it back to normal.

Hi Dan. The sad part is we can not legislate for idiots. I hope your young bloke isn't scared off boating and fishing . If he is at all worried pm me and I'll happily team up with u at the ramp or take u out on my boat. It's important kids feel safe an enjoy the boating / fishing experience. I have no time for anyone that would act like that in the vicinity of a child. Daniel

Callala at dead low is shocking. I came in there a few weeks ago and it wasn't even knee deep half way down the jetty Made bringing a 22 ft boat in interesting in a southerly.

The charts show green water for Kms out to sea. Pretty sure it didn't clear up untill about 80 Kms out

Thinking of doing the same thing. Maybe a drop at browns and keep heading east untill the water clears
