    Stiff Steering

Does the motor swing freely or does the cable move freely when disconnected. if the motor swings freely I would just replace the cable as it’s a pain to free up the cable and they go stiff again in 6mths if not done right.
  2. jump starter is mainly if you don't have two reliable batteries, so just a single battery system. If the batteries are in good condition, I start mine on the 1+2 setting as it charges battery one fully then charges battery two, when I pull up to fish / lunch I switch to battery 2. Then back to battery 1+2 for the run home.

    Boat Fuel.

I drained 60ltrs from my boat over a 3 week period and used it in my wife's car in 20ltr batches (20ltrs of 16mth old premium fuel added to 45ltrs of fresh premium) It smell like fuel and didn't have any oil or contaminates and her car didn't mind, so I guess it was fine, just didn't want to risk it on the water, lots easier to call NRMA and walk home than have to swim ashore.
  4. as above, just make sure you take the ear muffs off after starting it at home. Take a mate and don't go to far from the ramp, just up and down the river first, then do a few faster passes and a little further, and when back at the wharf turn it off and try starting again while hot and after 15mins. If all goes well your away.
  5. Growing up on the Parra river, I had my first boat at 10yr (8ft Dinghy) with a 6hp, my brother and I would often venture up the harbour with the odd trip to Clifton gardens, sure was fun when a ferry came past, boat used to go twice as fast down the wash. The great thing with a small boat is you can avoid the main channels and hug close to the wharfs and shoreline and the worst part is near the harbour bridge as it can be like a washing machine. Once past there you can skip into Taronga zoo and fish around there. I like to fish round Cockatoo island and up to goat island before the harbour bridge, not as rough and a quick drive from the Gladesville bridge.
  6. What about along the light rail line, I see plenty of boats and trailers stored there for weeks and months. Darley Rd?
  7. I own a alloy because it’s lighter to tow and i regularly pull up at beaches and river banks Where there is a chance of striking a rock.
  8. I didn’t even notice the link I posted was started by you back then 😂
  9. Hey Luke Does it only happen on Start up? if you change the fuse whilst the engine is running does it blow the fuse?
  10. I think the ramp was Upgraded in late 2018, never used it myself.
  11. When you pop of the cover does it have a series of bolts that hold the wheel on or a single nut. If its series of nuts then its easy, to undo and spin the wheel and re-bolt it on, If its a single nut with a Keyway then you have to remove the steering of the back, spin the shaft and wheel then slide the steering back on. Also some do have multiple Key ways to have some choice on the wheel. (YouTube Vid attached to show the different types of Steering Wheels, not how to fix it)
  12. Yep and my tail lights are recessed so I can actually touch park it with damaging anything.
  13. When leaving over night I Reverse park it and have the trailer hard up against a barrier or rock wall. I also have the tow hitch lock and padlock the chain to the tow bar. if leaving for a few days I add the yellow wheel lock.
  14. Ok I have had this situation as well, I just reversed the boat as close to the 90deg bend as possible, chocked the rear wheels, Disconnect of the tow bar. Then used my muscle to push it across the grass, it was a 4.2mtr tinny but rolled easy, I have also pushed my 5.4mtr across grass, not so easy. You will with practice be surprised how far in you will get it with the car, if you have swing room. Alternate to pushing is use a electric jockey wheel (As frank has shown above) Mount a winch to a post and use a electric winch to pull the boat back into place, Put a post at both ends and then use the electric winch to pull the boat out. As for boat selection, the 440 like you posted is a great boat, but I would aim for a 480 or 500 to get extra room and allow for 5 people, so you can bring others, especially when the kids under 12 only count as 1/2 a person.
  15. I have towed the kids around the Land Cover River, I do worry a little but they don't spend long in the water.
  16. I am in Silverwater all day tomorrow & Friday if anyone is around who has there name down.
  17. Looks like a early Quintrex Hunter
  18. I don't like Silverwater for 3 reason 1. the wharf doesn't float and its as slippery as 2. the river cats 3. Mate parked his car and trailer overnight and came back and his trailer had been stolen and a old shit trailer put in its place, the thief had towed their boat down and did a trailer swap. Removed all ID. Upside my mate used that trailer to get home, so they were considerate I guess. but scary towing a 23ft boat on a rusted arse trailer.
  19. Used to be a Nissan Exa getting round with BEG41T (Beg for it) and another was joe46X (Joe for sick sex)
  20. That might be 9 visitor parking spaces, as they are always the lowest possible
  21. That would Sh!t me as well I see a few long term parking in Wharf Road Melrose Park near the ramp, mostly it would not bother people as its factories on one side, so the residents are not affected. Also notice heaps of Shit trailers and boats parked on Lilyfield rd. Both of these roads are long enough that you could move the boat 500 - 800mtrs down the road after each use to spread the love.
  22. On my old Tinnie at the bow as it curves down to the bottom I had 3 small holes (1 or 2mm) which were caused by a rock when doing beach launches / landings and going to close to the shore fishing. I used Kneed it from bunnings 1. Cleaned the outside and inside of the boat at the hole 2. mixed the kneed it and rolled it into a small cone shape, with a sharp point 3. Pushed the shar point into the hole from the outside and while I kept pressure from outside one of the kids spread the kneed it on the inside and added a small amount of extra knee it on the inside. 4. I then smoothed the kneed it on the outside 5. Gave it 24hrs to harden and never touched it again for the 2yrs I owned the boat. which include multiple beach landings and launches
  23. I use these Jigs, when I have the 3 little kids onboard, I remove two hooks or 3, add a very tiny piece of either squid or Pillie and a heavy snapper sinker. The extra weight is needed as when the Yakkas get hooked they swim up, so if you hook two or 3 then it is a instant tangle. I also rig them to a very cheap Kmart Kids rod as it makes it easier to secure them we moving spot, rather than a hand line.
  24. I have the stickers, picked them up this afternoon and had a great chat with Mr and Mrs Swordy. im based in Silverwater but do get out and about in Sydney for work on occasion. i will also be in Shoalbay in 2 or 3 weeks and have a stash to bring up for the PS Crew.
