  1. Hi Hood Can you pump nippers or catch Poddy mullet from the Sandbar near the bridge at Hawks Nest?
  2. I see Poddys in that canal every time i went to soccer training, that was going to be my trial spot, but haven't tried yet, 3kids, work and Xmas taking up my time.
  3. That’s the one entry hole can be a maximum of 60mm, I used a hole saw, then drilled about 6 holes in the lid to let air out and about 4 on the side at the top.
  4. I have just made my first Poddy Mullet trap using a Sistemer container with a 60mm hole in the lid. will try it out Sunday / Monday and let you know was going to try around the ramp at Rydalmere.
  5. What's the budget Starting to see a few 1 and 2yr old boats come up for sale, as people feel the bite off the rate rise and also realize that boats in mostly a solo effort.
  6. Man, that would have made a fair sound, takes some force to bend that section
  7. To add to this, they also don't like people using their petrol engines close to and also in and out of the racks, if you have an electric motor that also helps keep the lease owners on side. old 2 strokes should stay well clear.
  8. I have a ford Ranger 4wd and i have only once or maybe twice needed to use 4wd to get of a ramp, that was at Shoal Bay on a king low tide. So for 7yrs with an average 20 launches a year, I only use 2wd and just a gently throttle and away we go towing my 1.3t boat, even my mates 1.8t boat has been no drama on a slippery ramp with a light throttle press.
  9. Hey Fab bought a genuine one from a shop for $68 including shipping..
  10. Hi All The trim switch on my Throttle controller is starting to play up, it goes up fine but I have to jiggle it to get it to work on the down. the control box is a ETEC product and I want to hopefully just replace the switch. It came on the boat from new with the Etec. the switch on the motor works perfectly, so it’s just the throttle one playing up. any Etec owner changed the switch only, I can find the whole handle including the switch, but not the switch on its own.
  11. just the boat , although to start with i will have t buy a used trailer in ok condition, and a used motor also. That is what i was trying to work out, originally, they said $2k as a budget guide and then mentioned that $2k was just for the boat and he would buy the trailer and motor separate $2k for everything is going to make it a small tinny purchase, something like a 3.7mtr alloy, 9.9hp maybe a 15hp tiller steer with a basic trailer. But if he has $2k for boat and another $2k for trailer and motor he jumps up a little to a 4 or 4.2mtr tinny and a 25 - 30hp tiller or an older forward steer.
  12. Hi whats your total budget if you thinking of paying $2k just for a boat, the trailer will be probably another $1k and depending on motor age / condition another $3k
  13. My insurance covers Boat, Motor and trailer but does have the value of them listed separately just in case something happens to only one item.
  14. Hopefully not the place I bought my boat from, I had services there and the boat never ran right, then to top it off, I drove all the way back and as I reversed my boat into the driveway i heard a noise, checked and the bearing had collapsed on the right side of the trailer. Considering the trailer wasn't a year old i was surprised, then extra surprised when they said we don't look at the trailer during a outboard service. To me that was like a mechanic not checking the brakes during a car service. ---(Bearing failed as the dust cap came off and Salt water washed out the bearing, could not see it behind the Alloy wheel cap, lesson learnt by me)------ I have not been back since 2017, i went to Huett as the alarms and excessive oil use continued and i was sick of getting towed home in a $45k boat, after 3 attempts by the selling dealer to fix i gave up, They even told me it was bad fuel causing the fouling plugs. Huett found the thermostats were siezed open, so the motor didn't get to temperature and that's what caused the excessive oil consumption and alarms. Since then 140hrs trouble free. My next service which is due will be at a place on the Hume hwy at Lansvale P.s Huett Marine closed as the land was sold to a developer and the then went to work for BRP
  15. Depends on the bowrider, if you are talking a sporty type like Bayliner, Searay then yes, the nose is too low and only good in rivers, bays and the like. my2016 Stacer 5.4mtr bowrider has the high sides and handles the swell no problems as the bow sits the same as any centre console, side console or runabout. On rough days, if you don't drive slow you will get sea spray, but a set of clears fixed that for me. Sunny days nobody wants to sit in a half cab sweating during a leisure cruise, they all want to be up the front or outside. Kids and the wife don't go out in the boat when its not a good / beautiful day, that's when i put the clears on and only take one person and fish as we can stay dry and warm. Alloy is good if like me you pull up to beaches regularly, but i do wish i had fiberglass sometime for the smooth ride, i have been looking at getting a Revival 590 bowrider, as it also has the high front compared to the American bayliner types.
  16. Can you do a combo, A mate using the vice grips while you have a long thick blade screw driver ?

    GPS tracking

i Added Data dot to my boat when new and just have insurance, my biggest fear is the trailer being knocked off when doing overnighters, so i do add extra locks on those trips.
  18. What about if your prep and eat it! I have done Sushi / Sashimi and have also fried fresh Flathead for lunch.

    Outboard height

See William at LB Computers at North Strathfield, fast service and very cheap. My 80yr old mother took her Mac there after Geeks 2 you said $400 to fix and William had it sorted and only cost $70. Also I’m only down the road at Silverwater if you want me to print the receipt, you can email it to me and I’ll drop it off.

    Salt away

I wash it off after it has sat for a few minutes. 1. Hose boat, trailer and Motor with Salt Away 2. Flush motor with salt away then normal water to finish 3. bucket and sponge boat and motor 4. Rinse with fresh water from hose
  21. Some of these fish were washing up at Silverwater bridge as well, didn’t notice any Flathead just the bream, whiting and EP. Makes me think the pollution event was closer to Parramatta.
  22. Yeah but Silverwater wharf doesn't float and is muddy slippery mess when low to mid tide, then also the ferries pass very close. Ermington wharf is close enough that i can slide the boat off and throw the rope to someone or i just use the longer rope to slide the boat off and climb the ramp wall and walked the boat back.
