  1. I bought myself a Eufy 4 camera pack, so easy to set up and access from your smart phone, best $400 i spent, quick and easy to see whats happening and being wireless i can mount it anywhere. The battery last 3mth in very high traffic area and 6mths in a low traffic area.
  2. We’ve all done it Jeff (some of us more than once). I guess I’m like all of us & have a systematic procedure of steps (over 1000 hours now on my current boat now in its 6 th year). We were all ignorant until experienced others (or our own poor judgements) informed us. Yep its what happens when you have 5 kids and get side tracked. Normally I even do a check at the ramp but missed it there to.
  3. I even had a newbie experience this week at Shoalbay. Reversed the boat down the ramp and into the water, which had a slight swell running up the ramp, went to unhook it and noticed the bilge pump was on and lots of water pumping out. I watched for a few seconds with the boat still on the winch and then realized I still had the bung in my pocket. so I pulled up the ramp waited a minute and put the bung in much to the delight of my wife who gave me some smart comments about being a green horn. she then turned to the guy on the other side of the ramp who was also launching and said, hey your bilge is flowing as well, like ours, did you put your bung in, his wife quickly put their boat back on the trailer and he also had forgot to put the bung in. Both wives had a laugh and both of us sheepishly parked our trailers and had a great day.
  4. I use mine most times unless I’m using the boat daily and only going the 300mtrs to the ramp, otherwise I like to use them to make sure they don’t seize up. also when I’m at home if I walk past the boat I give the hand brake a pull or two.
  5. Hi Salv I have about 10cm (5cm each Side) to get my boat through my front and rear garage doors, once you become a good reverser you will just use the car to put the boat away. Mine is on a slight slope down and having a Stacer 539 means its to risky to push by hand, So its slow and steady with the Ute. Makes good practice for tight spots. P.s I can reverse my boat trailer into any tight spot, but put a box trailer on and its all over the shop, damn short draw bar and wheel so close gets me every time.
  6. I used Coastwide covers, Shellharbour but he is mobile he is on FB
  7. Hey Frank awesome build, Where did you buy your rollers and skids from as my daughter got her first boat (Proud Dad Moment) it needs either two rollers welded / added or maybe two skids as it has no side support towards the front so is unstable on the trailer as most of it is balanced on the keel rollers.
  8. Hi Bob mine is a bigger trailer and slightly different at the rear as I have drive on skids, but mine sits on the centre and front rollers (not the rear roller) and sits on the two outside skids. the two skids next to my centre roller are slightly lower than the outside skids and don’t support the weight at all once boat is fully loaded onto trailer. mine is very easy to launch and retrieve You rear roller looks correct as it’s job is to lift the front up when retrieving. Maybe just drop those rear sideways skids just a cm or so so they only come into play when starting the retrieval or the last part of launching.
  9. The boat show is a great place to start, take the family and hop in and then let the kids change seats and swap around. even better is you have a bag or two
  10. Thanks Bill I only paid $2400 for the boat, trailer and motor, so far spend $420 on parts to fix it all up, including new leaf springs, bearings, trailer lights, Service items for engine and rego transfer. So pretty happy with the deal Just need a Castle Nut for the Prop as the one fitted was to big, only held in place with split pin and need to drill out a broken bolt in the thermostat housing.
  11. Sorted its totally normal, watch a few youtube videos and confirmed it.
  12. Hi All i have just bought a small tinnie with a 15hp Yamaha. it was a running motor but it was backfiring / Missing as well as not pumping water. Did a full service, you name it and I replaced it, Fuel filter, water pump, carby strip and clean, thermostat, spark plugs, gear oil. compression test is 130 on both cylinders it starts so easy and pumps lots of water. Question There seems to be 5 places the water flows 1. telltale 2. both side of the Cav plate at the prop end 3. Two small outlets at the boat end o also get bubbles near where the bolts that hold the leg on as well, will tighten to see if that works.
  13. Do you mean the scupper plugs / Drain plugs
  14. I thought I could just asking, have towed plenty of Skiers / tubes and knee boards, so should be right.
  15. Hi All i have a Kayak and wanted to know if I tie it to the back of my boat (No gear or people on it) can I tow it up the Parra river to Clifton gardens to then let the kids use it around the bay.

    Utes

I loved my 2008 Hilux V6 Manual 4x4 dual cab, my Ranger is very close. My mate still has his (2wd Auto) and is up to 280,000km the only thing which needed replacing was the fuel pump at 200,00km, the pump was working, just took a few revolutions to start, so the mech changed it and it starts first revolution again.

Hi i have a Ford Ranger 4wd and it’s great towing my 5.5mtr alloy boat. I have only had to engage 4wd drive once and that was on a king low tide at Shoalbay, where I only had my front wheels on the bottom of the sand covered ramp. the rear differential on the Ford Ranger is not a LSD it is a single spinner, and in 5yrs never had any issues even on a slippery ramp, I just stop a little high from the water line. you will be fine with a 2wd Ute especially when the boats on the trailer it will help put weight on the back.
  19. HI What do you call entry level budget wise? A Shimano Sienna 2500 rod reel combo are a great starting rig, but if your budget is larger you can go a slightly better combo.

Side Note: Frank have sent you a Pm about your plumbing issue.
  21. I did mine last year Rheem 170ltr unit and i think it was like $1700 installed. I used Elisha from HPP (High Priority Plumbing) 0414 433 650 I met him though a mate and now he is my go to guy, Fair Price excellent service, he is usually around the Silverwater area most days.
  22. Hi BG I had my battery in a purpose made box between the 2nd seat and front seat on the opposite side to where I sat while driving. The box was strong enough for a small person to sit on (75kgs or less) On the outside of the box it had the switch panel for Nav Lights, Fish Finder, Floor Lights and Bilge. Flooring was removable and cut around the battery box
  23. Scratchie I guess it starts with a trip to the Tip shop at Salamander bay for a old Kitchen pot.
