  1. Now that is a Barra. What a Great fish, fish of a lifetime. Well done
  2. Thats a great selection of fish. I find it amazing just how many species you can catch in a day out off Sydney. Well done and enjoy the feed. πŸ™‚
  3. Risotto! ! ! Thats a great Jewwie bait. πŸ™‚
  4. That's how it start, first a 3m, then jut a little upgrade and you're in a 4m+, then maybe a little bigger and you're over 5m. Before you know it you'll be looking down on the rest of us from the fly-bridge on your 35 footer as you head out to chase the Marlin. πŸ™‚ Well done on the Jewies.
  5. Good to see you getting into the Kings. πŸ‘ Well done to you and Rosie. She was performing well when I visited you a while back, it was such good fun watching you put her through her paces. A really well trained dog who you have a strong bond with. Go well in WA.
  6. Great report and pictures. Was up north a few years ago and caught some of those Threadfin Salmon, not sure if they were the same as the ones you were getting, but the ones we had were the best eating fish on the whole trip. πŸ™‚
  7. Target species caught again. Don't think that you ever fail to find what you are looking for. Well done Bob.
  8. The smile on his face tells a tale of a Great day. πŸ™‚
  9. It that was Tuesday I was one of the boats chucking livies at the FAD πŸ˜‚ I tried trolling, my biggest Dolly was on a lure 100's of meters from the FAD, but on Tuesday my lures were toxic as far as the fish were concerned. πŸ™‚ Sounds like you had far better luck with the lures. Well done πŸ‘
  10. Sorry to hear that you got hurt. At least you did not get washed in which could have been a lot worse outcome.
  11. On the live bait I was casting at the FAD I was using circle hooks, the one I got to the boat was perfectly hooked in the corner of the mouth. You make a good point though. Next time I'll try live bait hooks. Thanks for the tip.πŸ‘
  12. It's been a while but I finally decided that the forecast for ANZAC day was going to make for decent fishing conditions so out I went. Launched early, away from the ramp by 5.45 and headed to the bait grounds. Yakkas everywhere, put 8 or 9 in the live bait tank then off to the FAD. So much for my reading of the forecasts, it was real sloppy. Started by trolling a couple of skirted lures from about a mile away from the FAD and all around it for a while for no hits. So time to get a live bait in. Dropped 2 down on a weighted line and slow trolled round and round the FAD then drifter around the FAD for Zero hits. While I was doing this I saw a couple of boats hook up on unweighted baits so got out the bait caster and threw a Yakka at the FAD with a single hook through the nose. Within minutes I had my first hook up, a nice Dolly that went just over 60cm. A fish on ice at last. After that I lost a bait with out seeing the fish and then hooked what looked like a bigger Dolly that jumped like crazy before spitting the hook. Then it seemed to quieten down so headed to the Foul grounds area for a drift. Spend an hour there for not a touch. After that I headed to a favorite Flathead drift of mine just off Manly and over the next couple of hours landed 5 Flathead, all just about legal size but not really worth keeping, I prefer 40cm+ for eating. Also landed a 30cm Flounder which went back as well. By then it was time to head in so dropped out a couple of hard bodied lures and trolled my way back to the harbor. No hits but it was more comfortable trolling at 5 knots than trying to run hard into the slop. Not the best day out but at least I had a decent Dolly which I turned into Fish Taco's for dinner.
  13. Hope you get the sounder problem sorted. When mine played up a while ago I checked the wiring under the dash and even though I did not feel that I had really changed anything it has work well ever since. Guess mine must have been a loose connection.
  14. Well done on a lovely fish, perseverance pays off. I am sure that your next one will be soon. πŸ‘ A word of caution, your mate kept shouting 'tighten the drag'. I have seen this lead to snapped line and lost fish. You should set your drag to however tight you want it before you start fishing then leave it alone when fighting a fish as it's hard to adjust on the fly and you risk making it too tight. Just my opinion πŸ™‚
  15. What a fantastic day out, Dollies, Kingies, Flathead. I would be so torn on what to have for dinner after a day like that. Well done.πŸ‘‹ We you fishing the FAD out of Sydney harbor?
  16. Good haul of Flatties, my favorite fish. Well done πŸ™‚
  17. Sounds like a couple of great days fishing. Been too long since my boat saw water, I must get fired up and get out there.... πŸ™‚
  18. Dr Julian Pepperell, a marine biologist, has seen a number of reports of small Tuna being caught around Sydney and wants to get hold of one for some testing. He posted on Facebook, link to post below. He does a lot of work with the game fishing community so if anyone can help him out that would be great. Thanks https://www.facebook.com/julian.pepperell/posts/pfbid0oeobrLetMxFLqY3e8GnTaXJv4AkNZoLqa9WKg5yaXDfVBVJWFQRDeGbfUpJQCMV1l
  19. Great report and sounds like you scored a decent feed. Flounders and Flathead would be 2 of my favorites to eat. πŸ™‚
  20. Fish of a lifetime. Well done. Well it is if you are not Scratchie who seems to catch huge Snapper most weeks πŸ™‚
  21. Sounds like a couple of good sessions. Well done.
  22. Another good day with decent catches. Well done. πŸ™‚
