  1. Have you tried closer to home like Thompson’s or lake Lyell & the tributaries, there are other rivers over the divide & also the New England area, don’t know about the water levels though, even caught trout in the Nepean after the floods at the base of Warragamba dam by boat, google will help with access, & I agree amazing scenery & wildlife
  2. Sounds like you guys had a tough day at the office but what a great session & photos, lucky you had Pagrus 😂 onboard to sort out the finer details ( good onya Scratchie)
  3. Salmon, bream, leather jacket, tailor, luderick, & even resident jewies & squid before they die off in the estuaries & rocks not to forget the stalwart On a cold winters night hairtail & on the inshore & offshore reefs flathead, pigfish, snapper, mowies, kingies, & others, & then there’s bluefin ( if they show) and yellowfin out wide, it might be cold but if you rug up all’s good the wind usually dies off with calm seas & always plenty of parking at the ramp and no idiots to harass you on the water👍
  4. Bummer about not catching any fish but good on you for being true to your word & taking your young bloke out squiding, bet his eyes lit up when he saw the size of that cuttlefish, Good team effort, I wonder if that was the one harassing me on Monday near the L.F.B , it was good to meet you, & Jayden speaks highly of you. By the way have you fished north Copa, about 3 weeks ago in the morning I saw some good sized marks in 20 to 25m of water on the sounder while trolling past 60 to 80m off the point on the sand, reckon they might’ve been snapper as when I doubled back & dropped some fresh squid down they were gone cheers Dieter
  5. Thanks for that scratchie I’ve even borrowed a pie warmer from a buddy for the weekend. Mate I wish I had a direct line to the “man”, I’d be asking for a fine weekend with a hint of a breeze 😀👍🤞in the right direction of course cheers Dieter ( can’t wait!!!)😁
  6. Scored some cuttlefish tentacles & candle for the get together this morning off a spear fisho hopefully it freezes alright 👍
  7. Great informative report & good video 👍
  8. Looks good I like his work, if he doesn’t mind could you PM his number, it was good to meet up with you & hopefully I can find a few more old gems for you Cheers Dieter
  9. That’s a top report & photos 😎, that pinky shrimp fly looks great & what a way to christen it with a new PB bream 👍, I’m assuming you were chasing the trout in the rivers with the fly wand, while I was down there Brian (new owner Geoff Williamson’s shop) mentioned they were loading up in the rivers but good luck trying to get them to bite
  10. Went out yesterday morning & this morning for one good squid hooked in the candle yesterday & dropped off before I had a chance to grab it, this morning I had two takes from what I assume was a large cuttlefish but the barbs didn’t hold (heavy weight with minor movement) the bonus came while chatting to a spearo who had bagged a nice blackfish, salmon & 90cm cuttlefish, he kindly offered me a couple of legs & candle for bait, hopefully perfect bait for the P.S snapper get together in a couple of weeks also saw a 2 1/2m grey nurse shark break the surface about 3m from me
  11. Sounds like you had a good afternoon session always a bonus when the dolphins & whales come out to play, nice feed. A mate picked up a PB snapper in lake Mac Thursday night went 66cm
  12. As a young kid 11 years of age I remember our first trip on an old halvo my dad was stressing out while trying to get out of the moorings & I grabbed the wheel & got us out into clean water & was relegated as the driver 🙁bummer as I was used to zipping around in a 12ft tinny with a 9.8 merc on the back, as a family we did many a trip on the old halvorsons & even once in a 42 or 48 foot clipper owned by Singo ( had crap 💩 steering) as well as a houseboat which was by far the best. As Waza said well worth giving it ago in the Hawkesbury, so near yet so far from civilisation & pristine 😎👍
  13. I’ve got the bay star on my barcrusher & I’ve had the rig over 9years & love it & the steering, while down at Jyndabine recently I had a small oil trickle at the base of the steering wheel mount, I don’t think it’s an issue though as I had the boat in for a service just prior to going down & it might just be a bit of residual from a top up of steering fluid
  14. I fish the platform occasionally for squid & have gotten to know a couple of the locals & old timers there’s a bloke I think his name is Frank who fish’s that spot for snapper & where you first come on to the ledge (rod holders drilled in rocks) obviously it’s a long cast with the angle of the dangle being important. If I bump into him or one of the other locals I’ll P.M. you with the info. Are you doing another arvo session today as it looks fishy? Good luck. Cheers Dieter
  15. Sorry Ryder forgot to mention it’s in a store for $15 do you want me to grab it for you for when you come up
  16. That’s going to be a tough record to beat @RedSeaFisho @Scratchie It’s just like marlin fishing you put out a spread of lures, long corner, long rigger etc you can even run a shot gun if there’s enough bods onboard (have run up to 7 lures) and wait for a hit😀 Worth the effort relaxing & nice clean mountain air, & the fish taste great smoked, blackened(Cajun mix), etc Definitely heart in mouth stuff You can run over the same ground for ages & see the odd mark on the bottom then they’re higher in the water column & you know they are going start biting Yeah during the day in the deeper water but the trees can play havoc sometimes even with hardbodys, you might be in 50 foot of water & all of a sudden one creeps up to just 10ft under the surface & you do an evasive turn & run over more trees & hope for the best. Yeah getting excited now & can’t wait for hopefully some good snapper & the get together 😎👍 Couple of more photos of the trip & if you zoom in on the one below you’ll see the white kangaroo on the waterline also in our travels around the lake we came across a white kangaroo, not albino might’ve been an old one & sea eagle
  17. Hi @Ryder that’s a great score at $5 each & in such good condition for there age, I stumbled across this old approximately 9ft one piece in my travels this morning, has thick all metal runners with one damaged, no brand sticker, over & under bound, brown in colour, $15 & of course metal reel mount & full cork grip & very wobbly (noodle), I’m up at green Point, From memory we bumped into each other at a store in Sydney & you came up & had a look at an old two piece rod I had, if you’re interested let me know Cheers Dieter I
  18. also in our travels around the lake we came across a white kangaroo, not albino might’ve been an old one & sea eagle
  19. Left Sydney Wednesday morning & had a great run down to Jyndabine arrived at 1:30pm with a fair bit of wind blowing & unpacked the car & sorted out the boat while the snow came down, on the water by 3 & the snow turned to sleet, punched up to Thredbo & snowy river arm & put a spread out of some hardbodys & tassies, got a hit on one of the hards that didn’t stick & 15mins later a good hit on a tassie with line peeling & drops off damn, a while later we pick up a 30cm+ rainbow that we return to the fish gods hopefully to give us some good luck, that was it for the arvo. Next morning on the water before 7am the winds still blowing so back up to the arms for 3 more dropped fish, hooks not sticking we’ve never experienced this before 6 hits for one fish, used losing a few lures but not this many fish, we keep plugging away and it’s all quiet on the boat all of a sudden one of the rods goes off & in comes a nice mid 40s brown, a little while later another low 30s 🌈 comes in & gets released hopefully to keep the good mojo going, morning session done. That afternoon the wind had backed off so we tried around the clay pits & the islands near by for one 48 cm brown. Friday fished a couple of other spots as the wind had shifted for 4 browns ( 1x34cm released) & a rainbow Saturday morning running into Sids bay we got a double hook up on the hardbodys (rainbow & a brown) later on with a few more fish onboard we got another double hook up which surprised us as this is our seventh or eighth year of coming down & had only one other double. The lake was glassed out over the weekend & for a while I was in a tee shirt & vest grabbing some raysthe rest of the weekends catch At one stage of the trip we commented that we hadn’t picked up at least one salmon over the course of the trip as usually we get a couple, well anyway Sunday afternoon the wind starts up again as the light starts disappearing & getting chilly 🥶, I’m on strike & driving the boat & make a sharp turn to avoid some narly structure in 35 feet of water & one of the rods goes off and the reels singing, I grab the rod & start fighting a good fish next thing we see a donkey of a fish jumping out the back but my lines heading in a different direction we look around and another rods buckled over my mate grabs the rod “what the f@k” another double hook up, I’m fighting my fish steering the boat because of the wind my mates struggling with his fish and trying to get the net all this is happening while two lines are still out & we’re trying to keep clear of the lines, my fish is near the boat & I have my rod between the 2 rods still out on the starboard rod holder when one of them bends over & starts peeling luckily that one didn’t stick as that would’ve been total bedlam with two of us on board, all the while I’m in & out of gear to help us gain control and line, I grab the net in one hand with my rod still between the other two rods and manage to net a good almost 3kg fish and as I lift it up one of the trebles gets caught and the fish flips out & bends the other treble and gains his freedom, no time to think I gain control of the boat & put her back into neutral & net the other fish & as I lift the net it flex’s big time must be close to 4kg and measured 73cm a quick couple of happy snaps of the clipped salmon (ex brood stock) & he decides to release it, double high fives, just as well no room in the freezer 😀,we trolled on into the dark but no more hits, what a great way to finish up our trip, I swear I was still shaking with adrenaline a good 10mins after releasing that salmon
  20. Good little session & fish, way to go & nice feed
  21. That’s a great looking rainbow, eight fish on her first session, top effort I’m assuming in the rivers on lures, what did the 🌈 measure?
  22. Well spotted & good score @Ryder that’s quite a collection of some good quality rods your accumulating, do you happen to us any of them?
  23. Thanks Adrian the good thing about this time of year is that sort of weather can fire them up if they haven’t already headed up the rivers & they tend to congregate around the bays leading to the rivers & it’s well protected🤞The only downside is having to remove the ski gloves to fight & land the fish, mind you the more my hands are cold the bigger my smile 😃😂
  24. That’s great value for piece of mind, just had my third service & the mechanic was blown away by my low rev readings (long days trolling at Jindabyne) here’s a screen shotdamn Etecs so cheap to run & I’ve had mine since 2010 & only had one issue 👍😎👍
