  1. Good one, sounds like you had a great morning session at a new location, bloody double standards re life jackets, kiwi fruit probably 1/2 to 2hrs, I once tried milk overnight but the others in the family weren’t overly impressed I didn’t mind it though
  2. Congrats on your first Jew, I used to do all nighters chasing them & usually after 11pm or just before first light I’d get one or two, the first run from the tailor was probably it getting away from something looking for an easy meal👍

Great thread, love reading all your old memories, I nearly lost my brand new outfit back in the mid to late 70’s, it was a brand new 12ft butterworth 2 piece (green blank) with Olympic spinning reel I’d got for my 16th. I was fishing with my younger brother on a rock ledge 20ft up at crescent head during the winter holidays & drummed into him the importance of one eye on the water at all times, sick of re tying his gear I was showing him how to tie a locked blood not when out of know where a wave swamped us & dragged my new outfit down the rocks, I dived for it as it went over the edge gashing my knees & hand, felt the last 2 runners slip through my fingers & soon let out an almighty scream as one of the gangs embedded deep into my index finger with my new outfit bouncing below Went back to our accomodation & washed all my gear while my mom tended to my wounds that was a great rod over the years not so the reel which didn’t recover so well from the dunking
  4. Great informative report & good on you for showing everyone your new jewie lollies👍 Hope they do the trick
  5. It’s your fault his better, because you taught him everything he knows 😂 and some, even with his eyes shut & in pain you can still see he’s one happy chap, maybe he needs to tango with a few marlin later in the year to get better conditioned 😁
  6. Great informative report, photos & a cracker of squid, I’ve been getting a few around that size (30cm hood) off my local rocks lately & are good on the tooth at that size. I also like the comment at the end & always take my fair share of rubbish left by other inconsiderate “A”holes on the rocks & thank non fisho locals who do the same
  7. Great detailed report & photos 👍 well done
  8. Awesome photos, it’s great seeing & reading what your girls have achieved in such a short life, well done 👍
  9. Awesome report & photos and a top effort by junior (jealous), definitely a chip off the old bloke, great effort on the light gear😎
  10. Without the fishraider platform the weekend wouldn’t have been possible, a big thumbs up 👍 to mrs & mr swordie for starting it all & thanks to all the moderators for keeping things flowing & in check, & for scratchie another big thumbs up 👍👍 for going to the enth degree for organising such a great event which I’m sure will be the first of many more up there, & even giving out freely his accumulated knowledge & gps marks, & also to Frank 👍what a trooper for meeting us & bringing up some stuff for me, & even had the hindsight to bring a portable gas heater to keep us all warm around the meet at the ramp unfortunately which couldn’t be used due to the weather🌨. It was a shame that the weather was such a pain but catching up with some raiders & meeting new ones more than made up for it ( great bunch of M & F’s 😎) & of course kingychaser for the accomodation & top grub 👍good to see the barcrushers were there in force😃
  11. What about a barcrusher ive got 2010 560c (6.1m) with a 130etec, very seaworthy, good ride, economical to run my only regret I haven’t got trim tabs yet, there’s quite a few in various sizes on the second hand market & this time of the year you might get one at a good price, re your kids you can get infills for the bunks to turn the cuddy into a bed
  12. On the topic of braid has anyone tried majorcraft dangan in multi colour depth x8 or x4, it is very thin for its breaking strain compared to other braids & have been told by someone that they haven’t experienced wind knots, it’s 20% off at the moment at the snake shop & 300m x8 normally around 60 odd dollars, any feedback would be greatly appreciated
  13. Great report & photos, good stuff 😎👍. That footwear looks like the winter version of a concreter’s work boot when not in gumboots 😂
  14. Nice, looks like it would work well for burly as well & a knife holder
  15. Great report & photos for this late in the season, that’s a good flathead too 👍
  16. Bummer can it still be safely used to launch & retrieve
  17. Great reports & photos guys in what sounds like some trying conditions, saw quite a few whales while on the shore the other day, bound to be a lot around next weekend up at port
  18. Good one looks like a great beach with a good gutter in close
  19. Good report & photos at least you caught some good by catch, you could try around the Cowan system like Jerusalem bay or around cottage point for some resident jewies which I have occasionally caught while chasing hairtail
  20. Great report and photos, that’s some fine fish & stonker queenies 👍
  21. Congrats on your first jewie & that’s a cracker flathead, well done👍
  22. Another nice bag of flatties there Yowie, what depth were you in when you started losing gear, I’m assuming you started in 30m
  23. Another nice bag of fish & photos, shame about the transducer however if the gauge still picks up variations in temp & not crazy readings you could take out a thermometer a couple of times & add the degrees accordingly
  24. Depending on there size & what I’m trying to catch, if there large hoods cut into thin triangles & score the base into short strips like tentacles gives something for the pickers to play with, if bottom bouncing, cut off the head & cut the hoods into about 10 to 15mm rings & put the hook through with the guts attached
