  1. Good first report, sounds like you did quite a few k’s
  2. Hi @Ragnar I hope you get some, might have to put on some ski gear by the sounds of it, at least you can stay warm around a 🔥 fire, good luck
  3. That’s a great couple of sessions & photos, nothing better than seeing a feeding frenzy right at you feet but can be frustrating at times, good on both of you for hooking a couple each session, what was the bait they were munching on I’ve caught Kings & Cobia west of Gladesville bridge & seen metery’s of both species past the bridge
  4. Nice report & mixed bag I’m assuming a good burley trail helped, that’s a great session, well done 👍
  5. I’ve got a 20kg bag of layer pellets I suppose if we come across them I could dump a few handfuls in a trail & then run back over them with the lures. With deep diving lures or planers in the mix the lead line gets caught up on the turns, however if running flat lines we occasionally put it out I love fishing Jindy, & have done quite well at Lyall over the years but somehow the Redfin have got in, a mate just got back last weekend & fished lures & bait night time bank fishing & all he caught was some small reddies & not one trout seen or hooked from other fishos 😔🙁
  6. The Daly waters Pub is amazing, did you guys end up staying the night apparently they really know how to party there, Kununurra is worth having a look around like the hidden valley & you might be able to snare a Barra or to at the base of the argyle dam or at the Ivanhoe crossing & if you’ve got a prawn net you could spotlight for cherabin (freshwater prawns) on the opposite side of the crossing in the reeds upstream, Exmouth is another great fishy place, we camped south of yardie creek & caught spangled emporer to 10lb off the shore & an array of other fish including all sorts of trevally. How good is our country
  7. When I was a member of SGFC two brothers had bought a new 21 fibreglass boat & 6 months in hooked a good mako & it got onboard & after trashing pedestal seats, side pockets, gear, etc the larger of the two got on its back with both fists in its gills & his brother on his back they managed to toss it overboard, apparently about 17 grand damage, they never fished for sharks again in that boat
  8. Great report & some awesome 😎 sunrise photos Years ago I had a surfer dude ask me how the fishing was & while chatting to him he mentioned he doesn’t fish but had caught a good one by hand😉, the story was he & mate were on a remote beach heading in for a surf & while in the shore break we’re getting bumped in the legs by solid fish & noticed in the gutter in front sharks corralling the fish, he dumped his board & after a heap of attempts dragged out a 30lb Jew by the tail
  9. When I was there last year we got blown off the water so we went to the hatchery & fed some pellets to there retired stock in the pond & you’re not wrong they are absolute horses with a few elephants amongst them & even monster brook trout & my mate informed me they released the brooks as well😀 Thanks Frank 👍 sounds feasible but we only troll lures besides at $2.50 for a couple of good handfuls of the hatchery pellets it could become expensive $$😂, by the way I should be able to catch up with you when I get back, hopefully hopefully some good photos & report when we get back cheers Dieter
  10. My fishing buddy rang me up to let me know his just booked the accomodation for our annual trout trip from Wednesday through to Monday next week & decided to call the local tackle store (Geoff Williamson’s old store) for an update & was informed the Gadden hatchery had just released approximately 200 of there old retired stock of 5kg trout & salmon at the boat ramp & clay pits right where we are staying😎, would love to hook up to a couple of those beauties, might have to upgrade our leaders to 12 or 15 pounds😃
  11. That’s probably the quickest capture & release on record with a double ouch!!
  12. Just went out & measured the existing one at 1.8m worked fine before, if I have any issues I’ll definitely upgrade to the 2.4m, thanks for the info
  13. Sorry mate I was referring to the pink coloured fluorocarbon I hadn’t seen it before
  14. Thanks for the feedback @noelm after purchasing the new base & seeing the cable I’ll have no problem fitting it all in to the dash cavity & after looking at aerial length without measuring the tip of it would be 3m+ above the water line & was thinking of using some sort of hose as a sheath on the exposed cable to stop another cocky vandalism
  15. I came across black magic fluorocarbon in pink at a store today, not sure how long it has been around for & was told it’s quite popular, scratchie have you or any other raiders used it & what are your thoughts re snapper cheers
  16. The whip aerial is about 600 to 800mm+ above the hardtop of the barcrusher & the original install is a shortened cable, I was more concerned about electrical interference with sounder etc, if it’s hard to conceal in the dash I might have to speak to a Sparkie
  17. Thanks guys picking up a new antenna base tomorrow only problem they come with 5m of cable & I only need about 1m, the base is mounted next to the concealed dash
  18. The EAC current is still pushing well south & we have 24*c inside the shelf off Sydney & have heard of the odd marlin still being hooked & as @Mr squidy said find the structure, eg buoys or flotsam & you’ll find the dollies
  19. Hi guys I hope someone can give me some advice re cable issue, I have a lowrance LVR-250 unit with GME swivel airial bracket & have noticed bloody cockatoos have chewed at the cable sheath & damaged the wire & now have no reception before I dismantle or do anything has anyone have any suggestions for the best way to fix this problem. I have a small amount of free play of cable coming from the lowrance which might be enough, any help would be appreciated cheers in advance Dieter
  20. Great report & photo looks like you guys had an awesome day, I agree with you re the fads, probably to do with the head honchos having set dates to bring them in, & yet the “FADS” are put out for our benefit & our fees pay for the privilege, like you confused 😐 & disappointed 😞
  21. Thanks scratchie for the detailed information on the gear, rigs & technique😎. I’m sure it will be invaluable for all raiders for the P.Stephens weekend & future fishing quests, absolute gold💰. One question re leader length if using long leader as @kingie chaser mentioned say 2 to 3m in fluorocarbon would it have adverse affects on the plastics or would mono be better suited? Cheers Dieter
  22. Im hearing you @Welster But it does become a bit manic around the place during summer school hols, Im sure the locals hate it but the businesses love it! Pretty much the scene of any coastal town up the east coast. That’s why we moved 4 years ago @Welster & being more affordable to green Point C.Coast, if it wasn’t for 25years+ of customers in Sydney (plumber) we probably would’ve moved to paradise (P. Stephens scratchie town😂). Over the last 2 to 3 years the traffic & people have become quite hectic up this way on any nice weekend & during the holidays, around Christmas if you’re not on the water by 5:30 your struggling for a park, at the end of the holidays is when the locals start coming out of hibernation Love the now & then photo with the car
  23. No problem Luke as far as the car, I’m waiting for a friend to get a green light, if he is a no show your more than welcome to jump on board, I’ll probably be heading up on Friday after lunch ahead of the peak hour traffic
  24. An old girlfriend of mine got one on a handline with sinker and trace using squirt worm for bait
  25. Nice report & silverbiddy, are you from W.A because the locals were telling me I was crazy for throwing those (cobbler) catfish back, supposedly great eating, I’ve only ever eaten freshwater eel tailed catfish & they tasted quite good
