  1. Thx Pel, what i am looking at has a dunbier trailer.
  2. As the title says I am looking at getting another boat, one of which is in QLD. I have researched a little and found they have a REVS listing like NSW but was wondering if there is any other traps in buying an interstate boat.
  3. So when you see 6 or 8 adults in a dingy ferrying out to a yacht or cruiser they are definetly breaking the law?
  4. Isnt there some allowance to exceed capacity for transporting people if you are not planning? I wish i could be classed as a 75kg person
  5. Mrsswordfisherman Hope your recovery continues a speedy one, and that the only pains from now on are us fellow raiders.
  6. What about one of the clubs used by Waterways when they do licencing? Rooty Hill RSL or Richmond i think. I would be keen on attending pending my work schedule thx.
  7. Throw a bow cover on and it is probaly better suited than a CC for those conditions?
  8. Was always told crab still warm from being boiled goes thru you like a dose of salts! I am going to try warnie hotdogs. also been meaning to buy one of those dick smith 12v ovens for pies.

    New Boat

Bullet head i have an older 5m freedom Sport with the 90 Yam 2 stroke. 1st up i think they make a excellent fishing boat, benefits similar to a centre console but family friendly. The Yam 90 is a good solid motor IMO not overly thirsty, but a bit lazy. Just to check if the dealer is on his toes ask/look what prop pitch it has, in my experience they generally sell them with 17” which is too big but saves them the cost of re propping. Ross is correct they will want to be giving you the motor dirt cheap; “dirty” 2 strokes are not the way to setup a new boat, it will limit resale as well. I know the 75hp etec is a large capacity but I would be looking at the 90hp etec for the 490 Quintrex. Rgds Jim
  10. Nice catch, also the Sailfish rig looks good as well.
  11. Yep the mishap i had last year Huey pointed me in the right direction, give him a call.
  12. Thanks all As soon as this rain stops will give it a go.
  13. Pel thx Not getting a new trailer just giving the old one a birthday. Actualy putting a whole new "subframe" under it so in essence i dont have to drop it off just thought it would be more convient to clean every thing up and work on with out the boat? 5m quintrex btw.
  14. Hi All I am finally going to upgrade the trailer, and was going to drop the boat of the trailer. I have acess to a heap of old tyres and was going to hook up to car and slowy push it off onto some car tyres supporting the keel and the hull on the sides. My yard slopes down hill so that should help. Any other tips any body has?
  15. I attended a Furuno trade last year but do not have one. They mentioned a pin or indent that is designed to release the transducer in case of impact. If it has been knocked out a couple of times this can become loose and it will not stay inplace. There was a remedy but i cant remember There is a member called chop, he has forgotten more about furuno than we will ever know. Additionally the gap between transducer and the hull can cause a lot of turbelence that will effect performance whilst underway, it does with my Raymarine. Good luck
  16. Chuck it. Go see craig at Huett Marine @Cowan. He is a Mariner dealer and also sells aftermarket props as well. Details can be found in the sponsers section.

  19. Hi All Iam heading up to Belmont over easter, had a bit of a search and wondering if anybody can offer any other tips or spots that might prove useful whilst up there? I was going to try Dora creek and swansea channel, will be boat bound and the kids love to get into Flatties.
  20. Speak with Craig at huett marine, he also sells these trailers i think, i looked at them at the recent show and thought they were okay but a bit rough around the edges. IE one i looked at had some gal that had chipped/flaked off! As mentioned above you get what you pay for, also resale on these will be down.

  22. Huey when i was last away i saw a Stacer inboard bowrider (am guessing 5.6?) with an Minn Kota on the front, this would be a 24volt model i suppose. Do you run a single 24v battery or 2X 12v?
