  1. I was deliberately flipped Off a kayak by a jetski. They passed multiple times within a few metres without slowing down. When talking to some people who helped me out, this was just another of many. Just happy some divers got all my gear back and returned it all to me. So only lost a power cable for the fish finder and the battery, did end up getting the battery back but it didn't work. Good idea just walking off, that takes a lot of self control. I definitely would not have that self control. That being said not all jetskis are bad. Unfortunately there's a bunch which have to ruin it for everyone. Better luck next time
  2. Personally I like the black magic pink shrimp size 10 sabiki, never tangled and I always just wrap it up and put in back in the packaging. Works wonders for me. You will catch anything preditory, sorry if that's was kind of an obvious answer. You can target specific species with particular live bait types and sizes and location. I'm guessing you just want to get a yakkas and pop in under a float or a running sinker and get what ever bites. Yakkas give you a bit of a can better chance then dead bait, theres no guarantee though, but usually live bait is better. As for the gear to use, it all depends on your target species and the size of your live bait. For your estuaries with small mullet, probably a 4000, with 20lbs braid max, just up it to a 5000 with 30 if your going for jewfish, with a rod ranging from 4-8 kg to 10-15. For prawns in the estuary 2-4kg with a 2500 reel with 8lbs braid. For around the harbour peirs, with yakkas for tailor and salmon, 4000 with 20 lbs braid or maybe a 5000 with 30 lbs braid, on a 8-10 to 10-15kg rod, around the 8ft mark For the harbour peirs for king's, using squid, slimely, yakkas, a a 8k to 10k Shimano, or a 8500 slammer, with 50 lbs to 80 lbs braid to suit. On a heavy rod, anywhere from PE 5 to pe 8. You need to be able to drag the fish out of the pylons. Off the rocks for using gar, yakkas, slimey for long tail, king's ect, 9500 - 10500 spinfisher or slammer, Heavy mono or braid, on a 15-24 or 24-37 prevail rod. Off the rocks like Avoca, using live bonito, tailor, salmon, for monster king's and long tail. This is where your big overheads come out, from 30w to 50w on a custom rod to match. If you don't mind the weight, there are the options of overheads, the tld 15 and 25 would be a great size for just using yakkas. On a 10-15 kg rod. And for off the beach for jewfish, a 10k size reel with 50lbs braid on a 10-15 kg prevail rod would be perfect. Hope this helps
  3. Depends on budget. Personally I'd be going the second rod as it gives a little more versatility (I have a rod that has a vast weight of like 0.25 ounce, a bit limiting on what I can throw), with TD black or a stradic and 8lbs line. To 6 to 8 fluro leader. Maybe look at a 1000 or a 2000 to 2500 size reel If your not looking to spend to much or this is your first setup, look at the dawia revros combo (absolutely feel in love the first time I used it) or a sienna quickfire combo. Both of those won't brake the bank. I quite like the sugar glider in the ghost prawn or Banna prawn colour. Or zman motor oil or midnight oil 2.5 grub on a 1/16 ounce size 1 hook jighead. Or this eco gear prawn vibe thing, can never rember the name, great little lure. Hope this helps
  4. Thanks for shedding some light on this, please correct me if in wrong. From my understanding the talica is better for stand up fishing with a straight but rod? From looking at pic I'm guessing the talica has a 'deeper' spool while the tiagra has a wider? I'm guessing the tiagra more suits being fished on a bent but rod with a harness or in the rod mount? For using straight mono, I'm probably wrong here, why would you go a tiagra when you have the senators, that could hold however many km of 200 mono. I thought you would be going the biggest reel as possible, but again please correct me if I'm wrong. It's probably my technique is wrong but I guide the line back onto my reel using my thumb at the front of the reel. No one really taught me how to use an overhead so it's kind of been a guessing game. I've noticed the second hand values are up and down. Like you will see toagras and talicas all around and above the 1000 mark then around the 400 mark, at that point a trynos is the same price if not more expensive. But yeah the toagras seem to be a bit cheaper sometimes. 25 is an ideal size for pitch baiting for tuna and stuff isn't it? Like they're narrow enough to be cast and light enough as well. If you want an interesting video, there's a guy who casted a 50w tiagra a decent distance lol. Thanks for the help
  5. I met my girlfriend in my old school, was there 2 weeks or so. Anyways last year she reached out over Snapchat to see how I was going and where I was now. Anyways got talking and became very close. After a little while I asked her our and she said yes so yeah. It's probably a lot different to everyone else.
  6. yeah I had a quick read of them. SOunds like shark bait then. thanks for the tips
  7. can't blame you. I know im probably tempting fate, ill just have some work boots on. Theyre meant to be an asome shark bait to so, like could be worth the risk lol
  8. Im hoping to get out on saturday to berowera to fish the run out/ in tide for some pike eels. can't be bothered to get the kayak out or grab my mates boat. so will be going off next to the ferry. will chuck a shark bait in to. My main question is, anyone eaten a pike eel? I read a big mixture about them, some say great, some say bad, but one thing agreed on is they stink. I was going to dry them out a bit then marinate in terriaki, soy, brown sugar, chilli oil, salt and them smoke them. do you need to soak them in vinegar or milk to remove the amonia smell?

ive neer had that problem but if its every video maybe its your computer? Maybe its under the equilizer tab in the control panel (I think its there) Thats the only probalem I can think of. I used to have the same thing happening on my computer and audio system. maybe have a watch of this video and see if it does the same thing, because its 100% find for me. some movies in parts are like that but I personally have never had a problem. Hope this helps
  10. Like a slammer 10500? Mines loaded with 150 lbs braid, absolute beast of a reel. Just be ready for an awesome fight when you hook up also the slammers are very heavy to jig with, but I have used mine for jigging
  11. Ahh alright thanks. Didn't realize that the 2 speed had the harness lugs I already own a tiagra just curious about the advantages and disadvantages of each. I'm using mine for shark.
  12. careful leaving lures exposed, like in a plano box, even if its in a cubby in the boat. If lures get to hot, they can actually explode. Ive seen firsthand a crank bait go pop. also soft plastics melt
  13. Tiagra vs talica. Just curious what the advantages of each are. To keep it simple maybe we should cap it at 50w, as there isn't any bigger talicas. From my understanding, talicas can be used to pitch bait, jig, live, bait, trawl ect. But does this versatility make it better than a tiagra? From my understanding the internals are the same, the talica has a slightly heavier drag. With the tiagra, the harness lugs are definitely an advantage for certain applications but what other advantages are there? I guess my main question is what makes someone use a talica over a tiagra and where's the line drawn? They're both basically the same price second hand, new the talica is more expensive. Thanks for entertaining me curiousity
  14. the main uses wor be jigging, live baiting, pitch baiting, bottom bashing. I guess light trawling? Although the main purpose of it would be jigging. If you want a more multi purpose reel, look at a penn fathom or a talica. But this reel would be an absolute beast for jigging. Thats going to be a great setup for big fish and jigs. as for the rod, your limited to jigging and live baiting, but thats pretty much the soul purpose of the reel. The ideas before were just options, there are much better options. If your looking for a more general purpose setup, a spinning reel will be much better but if you only really want to jig, your not going to et much better then that setup. as for the line, yeah 80lbs would be perfect, there is an argument for 50, but 80 imo is much better for jigging with such heavy jigs and gear. Hope it works out great and suits your purpose
  15. what penn reel do you use for a light setup? I only look at shimano and dawia for light gear and penn for anything bigger then a 4k size reel.
  16. Stella 1k on a tcurve? the new daiwa exist or something (platnuim reel) are very nice as well on a nice light dawia rod.
  17. I know first hand prawn heads in the spare wheel works great 🤣 I genuinely have no idea, no one on my street has kids that young.
  18. What does everyone think about these new NFTs? Ive been watching them, I personally dont see a future in them but, you never know they might blow up like crypto. Personally I was going to put $10 maybe $20 in and see how it goes, just dipping my toes in the bath first, then slowly increase from there. I feel like its not your average investment, and because I don't see much of a future I dont want to dump heapes of money into it. So what do you guys think? Worth giving it a go or just give it a miss? Does anyone actually have and NFTs? I know one of my mates has invested a little bit in it and has made a few $.
  19. Next time they throw the rubbish out the window, just pick it up and trow it back in their window? See how they like it? on a serrious note, why dont you video it and send it to crime stoppers for illegal dumping? If there wasn't a sign there, once or twice is fair enough but continously doing it, bit stupid. Why dont people put rubbish in their own bin? Ive had people putting used diapers in my bin and stinking out the whole street, and of course they didnt even put the diaper in a bag so my bin needed to be cleaned.
  20. 100% a ray, that munching vibration is exactly what a ray does and the fact that the bait was squished, means it couldn't be much els. Rays have a crushing plate which squeezes their food on the top plate in theyre mouth hence it flattens the bait. plus, sandy bottoms are their prefered habatit
  21. I know a bait shop near by that gets them straight from the trawlers but its more like $16 per kg so not the cheapest $9 for 2 big slabs of squid from supermarkets works to I guess
  22. yeah definately heard about that. what happens if you brine in salt or alachol? Wouldnt that kill off the bacteria? not planning on doing that but just curious
  23. Yeah, Ive been trying to get the fish shop to give/ sell me cheap the prawns and scraps they can't sell, unfortunately not much luck but ill keep trying. unfortunately they changed owners so don't have such a good relationship with them anymore. Yeah that california squid is meant to be good. Yeah, that stuff is good. how about chicken necks? I have heapes as the dog stoped eating them for brekfast I put all the worms in my vagtable garden LOL yeah works alright I guess. firstly, you can catch mullet!? 🙃 I just found running them over and they jumo in the boat was the best way. Ill have to give that a go Im goung to try and get the to harbour with a little telescopic rod and a sabiki and a little freexer bag next time I have to go there I know, its just been tough going, like I never know when my next trip is so I kind of want to make the most of what i have its all good, but thanks for the offer thanks very much for the advice
  24. Awsome, when do you need them gone? Maybe could I swap you some yakkas next time I can stock up on them?
