  1. I just use 20lb Fireline, floats like a champion and is easy to see. Works for me. Cheers, Bruce
  2. Gotta be happy with that. Well done to the young bloke, now what chance do you reckon you've got of sneaking out and leaving the young fella at home . Cheers, Bruce
  3. Yep, Thats them,BLOODY LEATHERJACKETS!
  4. Thanks for your comments guys, I knew someone would make a table shot comparison ,but isn't it funny, when the :wife:saw the the state of the cruddy old table, she was horrified and wanted to know why i didn't take the pics on the nice timber outdoor table.I'm sure you could imagine what would have happened if i had plonked a load of slimy fish on the good table and said"i'm just gonna take a couple of fish pics on the table" . G'day Slinky, Don't for a moment think we outsmarted the yellow peril completely, they still took a collection of my freshly made sinkers home with them . As far as the jackets being cyclic,i don't know, but i pine for those days of not so long ago when a jacket in the esky was considered to be somewhat of a rare bonus. Cheers, Bruce
  5. G'day,All, Took a mate from work out off Terrigal on Saturday,in what were great conditions for a bit of a drift around. The plan was to pick up a few livies and maybe nail a King or two,but alas that plan turned to shyte when the only Yakkas we could catch were about 14in long.Oh well onto plan B,i've got a couple of spots that produce at this time of the year,so off we went to try our luck and hopefully steer clear of the BLOODY LEATHERJACKETS!!!! that have plagued me for too long to remember. On our first drift helped along nicely by a gentle westerly breeze we picked up a couple of nice frogs, and things were going along swimmingly untill we hit the great yellow wall of BLOODY LEATHERJACKETS as soon as we hit the 40m mark. With our lesson learned we continued repeating the drift out from 33m to 39m, and barring the occasional bite of from the BLOODY LEATHERJACKETS ,a steady stream of tasty Flathead came over the side and into the esky. On a side note,we must have seen over a dozen whales during the course of the day,and some of them were very close!!.Didn't get many pics of them as they seemed to be timing their run to co-incide with both of us being hooked up or just to busy staring a the size of them like slack jawed numbskulls. Here's a couple of pics of my share. (Having a bit of trouble finding the pics, will update asap,) Cheers, Bruce
  6. Here's one that has allways stuck with me ,it was something that my very large (read 6'8" and 300 hundred pounds)and very American science master used to yell at us often. He would get his dander up and scream. " sorry don't feed the bulldog, you kick him ,he'll bite you" Brings a smile to my face everytime i use his retort.(i can see his massive angry head sceaming at me as i type this ) Cheers, Bruce
  7. . Now I'm off topic....sorry. G'day Nanook, I would not be wearing those duds anywhere near Bondi ,it could get very ugly, very quickly. Cheers, Bruce
  8. G'day Humesy, Don,t ask me why,but i was looking for Bill Murray in the audience I hope the girls have a blast and do well. Cheers, Bruce

  16. Donna, Very glad to have my oldest and dearest friend back from the brink, and to what could Fishraiders' first marriage proposal!. Cheers, Bruce
  17. Methinks there may be some hidden agendas at play here! Cheers, Bruce
  18. Thanks Slinky, I will check out the Daiwa's ,sound good. As far as the ABU 7000 goes,i already have a couple and they are almost as tough as my Penn spinfisher, and just as old ,i guess sometimes newer is'nt allways better. I will check out the Finor's as well, but as with the new Penn's,i am getting mixed reports. Cheers, Bruce
  19. Thanks for your interest guy's, After reading your feedback it only adds to what i have heard about these new gen Penn spinning reels. It seems that for every good reel there is a dark twin lurking out there somewhere. After thinking about the odds of getting a good one as opposed to getting a reel that provides problems,i have decided to steer clear of them for the time being. So,does anyone have ideas for an alternative reel that is not in the zillion dollar price range?. Cheers, Bruce
  20. Good onya Fella's, I was one of the sorry souls who had to work today, but i did see the sunrise and it looked just like in the photo, fantastic. By the way Ray,nice Banjo mate, and no Deliverence jokes,i promise?. Cheers, Bruce
  21. Thanks for the feedback guys, I might just have a bit of a look around for some other reels that have metal bodies, and not bodies and feet that are made out of cheese like some of the other(top quality)reels i have killed. Any suggestions would be great. Cheers, Bruce
  22. G'day Roberta, I have had a bit of a play with the Garmin 300c,and they seem to be a good little unit, pretty easy to use and certainly better to look at than the monochrome units. The only let down was sceen size, but if you have it nice and close to you that should'nt cause too many problems. Hope this helps. Cheers, Bruce
  23. Go you good thing, There be no stopping you now Bez! Cheers, Bruce
  24. G'day All, I am in the market for a new reel after being let down again by reels that are just not up to the riguers of bottom bashing. Being a bit of a Penn fan(read ruggedness and simplicity)and being more than happy with the performance of my old SS,i was wondering if any Raiders have had any experience with the Penn Slammers or Live liners.Theese reels still look to be well made, and seem to have a fair reputation even though they are no longer made in the US of A. Looking forward to any feedback you guy's can offer. Cheer, Bruce
