  2. Hello fisho's Jus a quick report for the peak and 12mile.Dangas and i started at 7am which we got some yakkas in the bay then headed out to the peak for a jig. Worked the whole area for a ZERO chucked out the yakkas for minus and a jig to the leather jackets.. Left to 12mile which we couldnt sound any fish what so ever So left there around 12pm and decieded to troll home to find some sort of action which lucky we did, cause we bumped into a school of stripey Hooked up 6 which 3 was lost at the boat and 1 bonnie but had a ball on 30lb gear and got a mad feed. Fresh sashimi and tuna steak yummo! For those ppl who think red braid is goin to excaspe those leather jackets, its not goin to happen! Tested and failed. Cheers, LH
  3. <------------yep sign arama knows how to charge a arm and a leg.... my stickers cost me 150! And i thought i was goin to get looked after since i was there neighbour
  4. Had a few hrs to me self at miday so I went out to terigal boatIn front of the dive shop and tried for squid,it looked like a great spot as I can see the rock ans kelp there but fail with zero squid. The wind was a pain especailly with 1.8 jigs but nce to soak in the sun again. Did see a massive pod of dolphins about 50mtrs off the beach it was a great sight...almost so probably the same pods about 30mtrs off avocca rock too. Maybe they eat all the fish and squid around here....... The Water looks flat as, only wish I had my boat up here to forfill my needs.
  5. Thanks for the replies guys . I wait till my mate comes up with my the bigger jigs and hit these places .
  6. Hey raiders Been workin up in the entrance for the last week, so armed with my tools and trusty exist reel and rod to make the most my time up here. Had a chance on Friday night and Sunday to hunt for some squid. I hit terrigal boat ramp twice and avocca rocks with no such luck. My jig size are all 1.8 in orange, blue and yakka colour.Gettin my mate to bring me some 2.0 and 2.5 size as 1.8 are a touch light. I've landed a few squid at terrigal b4 but that was ony boat so maybe I'm not castin far enough in the deeper section of the ramp??. I read ppl catching squid at avocca too. Am I havin trouble findin them cause of winter? Or should I be tryin more spots around here?? I saw a David xxxxhhhggg fishin episode and he was catching some at swansea on a boat. Maybe worth a shot. Thanks in advance for ur input.
  7. Ugly sucker isnt it.... SP'ing does test your patience when you cant catch some fish but it sure was nice soakin in the sun and enjoyin the water. I think its time to upgrade my SP's i brought like 4 yrs ago. Starlo and bushie SP's havent really caught me any thing decent in the pass. Most hits were on the Atomic SP's which i won a few packages at last yrs boat show. Glup's and blades are a definetly add to my bag next time i got out too.
  8. Gday folks, Hit the bay this morning with Dangas to test out his electric motor and mainly to wet the line. Abit cool and windy in the morning but turned out to be a very nice winters day on the bay. Our main goal was to use SP's and lures which we did, but the out come was very poor. Only mannage a tiny flattie on a blade and some wierd looking string ray kind of fish...... We did find some fish and got some runs right on sunset but none hooked up which was heart breaking as it peeled some line of the reel! Anyone want to name there favourite SP's colour and brand most productive in the bay?? As Dangas and i threw our whole artillery with not that much interest for most of the day. WTH is this creature????
  9. It will only be a minor cut anyways, plus nothing a welder cant fix mate.
  10. Thanks for the input guys it certianly will help when i start pulling out the drill and grinder and startin chopping and putting holes everywhere.
  11. Wow the Ag chain knot looks awsome! Goin to try it out soon.
  12. True! Tho mate told me when joining braid to mono it tends to snaps the braid jus above where you join the mono. So i was jus thinking i would give it more of a buffer where it does tends to break?? I will take a look at this AG chain knot.
  13. So bored and going insane cause i cant go fishing to try out my new jig weapon due to work and the weather, i decieded to keep my mind busy by practising on my PR bobin i jus brought home from japan. I think ive mastered the concept of the PR knot so to mix things up i chucked in a bimini twist with a PR knot. What do you think of it? Overkill?? Not as slim as the single line PR knot but it sure looks mighty beefy.
  14. I had no problems getin through customs aye. Gold coast customs was a breeze they didnt even pop open my bag, the officer did ask if i used my rod in fresh water which i replied only used in salt water and out we went. Not sure how it would of been in sydney customs.
  15. Got home this morning with the rod in one piece. Thanks for all who have put there input in this thread, very much appreciated.
  16. yeah lets try to have session next week if the weather is good??
  17. 2 more days in japan and its windin down time and what do i do to wind down??? Shopping at a fishing store . Spent a hr at joshuya jumbo store and boy it is really jumbo. Walked out with alot of bait jigs more squid jigs on top of the ones i brought in osaka, slugs, PR bobin and a few other little things. Might do a fast stop over tomorro with the loose change i have for hooks . haha The luring of the colourful jigs always led me to buy more squid jigs?? Ive brought well over 15 squid jigs i dont think i will ever use all of them but they sure will look good hangin off my computer desk. Just for anyone that wants to know some info, i found products abit cheaper in osaka then tokyo, and it seems to be more shops down in osaka too. Tho i think 1 shop will be enough to cure your needs and addicton for fishing.
  18. Yeah they do a good job at messing up things dont they....but i be happy for them to rip the tube apart when we go through custom, saves me doin when i get home
  19. All sorted out guys. Was wondering around a store called tokyo hands and they had a department which had DIY stuff. Saw a roll of vinyl with half a meter left manage to do a shifty and change the left over vinyl to the new roll which left me with a 2mtr long 75mm wide chunky cardboard tube. i Asked the sales person if we could buy it but he said we can take it away for free probably cause my misses had a basket full of there stuff and really at the end of the day its will get on the rubbish bin anyways. Stop pass a 100 yen store for some lids/end caps bubble wrap and stick tape and bobs your uncle. Cost me 400 yen. i dont think a bomb can even rip open this tube.
  20. ssymmetri that is very helpfull infomation . Did they charge you for the casing??? if they did how much did it cost?? I had spare time on my hands yesterday so i caught the bullet train down to osaka to ask them if they had some sort of tubin for my rod.... The guy who sold me the rod was been very rude and not willin to help me what so ever, so this young girl was tryin to assit me but with so little english it was pointless.. . After snooping around the shop i ended up finding some hard casing made for traveling and it cost 23000yen left with a life time worth of squid jigs and went home...
  21. framedtrash you are one spoiled person! hahaha
  22. scotty, sounds like a plan now! cheers Frame-trash, I will swap my rod for your JM rod if you are keen?? still learning, its a jig rod.
  23. Thanks guys for the fast replies!!! . Im heading tokyo for 1 day b4 i fly out and doin a quick pit stop at shibuya, i will ask for the pvc pipe and stop past the temple to pray for my rod to arrive to its new home in one piece.
  24. Hello guys, Can someone with experience tell me whats the best way to my rod home from japan??? Rod is 5'7". Im guessing a pvc pipe the lenght of the rod would be best but where would i find a hardware store in tokyo or kyoto city??? Ive seen those rod/tackle bag where you can fit a rod and lures in but i dont think thats goin to proctect the rod that much as its not a hard casing. I dont think i can sleep well with jus a fragile sticker slapped on it at the drop off point. Im flyin home with jetstar. Any advise is appreciated
