  1. hmm do you really think individual fishos make dramatic difference? I'm sure it make some minor differences but if they want to get serious, they should do something about pros... Still to this date I shiver at the thoughts of that OMEGA SUPER TRAWLER lurking near australian waters.....
  2. Well done for letting my best buddies go. whenever I go diving, blueys always comes around and begs me to get him an urchin! Once you dive with these puppy dogs of the ocean you will never be able to hurt one. Again good stuff mate.
  3. i flip rocks with handle of my nets or with gloves (sick of getting cuts from oysters), already have aerator and with licenses yup costed me $66
  4. Finally started a saltwater aquarium and all is good except $$$. Some of the prices on marine stuff is chiching! Anyway been happy with oddballs I get from fishing and with scavenging through rockpools so I've decided to mainly save some money and make a sydney fishtank So I as fellow fisho if you know a good landbase location where you've seen some strange creatures and I can stick them in my tank Cheers, Mark
  5. butch the fish hunter is back. well done mate
  6. I went deep sea in cairns, caught a baby yellow fin and I honestly I was excited to catch the fish but I didn't enjoy it. It was very tiring, felt like I'm bringing in a dead weight. I guess having electric reels will allow you to conserve some strength bring in lines so I say great technology... but as the world gets fatter do we really need another tech to make us lazy... for me YES
  7. wow anyone news from landbase in akuna bay?
  8. I'm thinking of going there for the first time, just wondering how the trout fishing is going? any advice on location would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Mark

  11. been squidding in northern beaches for 10+ years, been coming home with donuts for the last 2 years and finally broke my drought with a first cast
  12. another quick tip, when it's pulling slowly, just tighten the light slightly and soon you will feel a heavier or stronger pull, this is when you gently strike.

    Hairtail

i'll ask my dad tonight but it was land base, it where theres heaps of breakwater structures all along the walk way. You fish the left hand side for hairtails. As you walk further (it's a long walk) you can catch more lol. When they are on they don't muck around, they smash everything... nothing like the sneaky buggers from hawksburys. I also found when they are in this frantic mode, throwing metal slices works the best, even at night!

  17. Me and my partner is going to Nelson bay this long weekend. Looking on the web, it might be good fishing so I am going to sneak in a cast here and there. Going to take a light bream rod so looking for fun fishing (with fairly constant action). It will be catch and release. Anyway advice on a place to fish? Prefer a jetty or something like that, even a good beach if we can get on to some salmon (great fun on light tackle). Thanks in Advance. Mark
  18. Well went for a dive in shellie beach and saw the biggest croc eva! This thing was like 1.2m and width was bigger than me! I didn't know they get that big! It wasn't bothered by me as I floated steve irwin style only centimetres from it (so I can measure it compared to my body). I couldn't help but to touch it and it moved a metre and slept lol Amazing but frustrating at the same time as I wanted a rod in my hand Marine park does work as the sizes all the fish I saw was jaw dropping.

  24. When I was young, I used to get big hits and very short runs, then all of a sudden, snagged. Father used to tell me I just caught Australia and the waves were the reason for the HIT. Now I know the culprit that made me looked like I'm crying wolf! Thanks butch for enlightening me to the truth.
