  1. well legal reason was one of them but my intention was to catch some yakka's and head off to akuna bay for hair tail after getting zero yakka, I went to akuna bay with pillies and caught nothing There were few people there trying for the same but no go. Guys there told me they caught 5 shovel nose sharks there. Oh well, you can't expect to catch fish all the time but I had a great time sharing tips and story with other fisho.
  2. 1 hour, caught and released 10000000000000000000000 tiny tailors! fished from the new boat ramp, others near the bridge, same report. I didn't go hard last night as it was a stop over to catch some yakkas. I'm guessing due to so many tiny tailors, there's a good chance big ones around
  3. I've fished there for a year and just like any other places, it can be a hit or miss, but my trick about flatty works
  4. champ have I seen you at Roseville? I used to go there everyday! I'm pretty easy to identify as I drove blue 350z I'm guessing due to the new structures being built that may act as FAD?? But then again, I have seen Jewie and blue swimmers being pulled in from Roseville I don't live near there anymore so can't go there everyday but your posts are soooo tempting!! lol oh I'll share you my secret trick that guarentees a big flatty, catch yakkas (there's plenty of them), then chop them up in 3-5 peices depending on the size and throw it out infront (act as great burly). Have a line out with whole yakka (make sure you stab the yakka so you get the guts hanging out). I used to use a handline and when I'm ready to go home, 99% of the time you will have a big flatty at the end of the line. oh use heavy lines as you get some monster flatty!

    Squid

+1 to crappy squidding in pitwatter for last 6months or so
  6. congrats, i used to fish there casually when I lived a minute away. caught some thumper flatty and bream.
  7. Newcastle over 15 years ago used to fire but not anymore. Only a rumour but apparently pros have ruined Newcastle
  8. these posts should be made illegal or atleast have a big warning sign that says. You will get a serious itch for fishing and will suffer from insomnia! lol great catch
  9. fishing normally that good? if so I should go to parra river for catch and release for sports (as most I don't eat, I may bring back couple for the old folks...).
  10. hairtails in big school will eat crazy, but when they aren't they can be very playful with their food. they tend to lightly grab the bait with their teeth and they take it side to side very slowly. If you yank it, you will most likley loose it. What you need to do is slow retreive the line, when you do this, soon or later hair tail will pull the line drastically, this is when you strike
  11. i'm considering where you heading? i'm coming from blacktown, was thinking of palm beach so any northern beach is ok lol ps what you targetting?, has it got any light? long walk from the car??? lol
  12. same experience here, the big ones have not come in to lay. last month managed 2 tiny arrows!! on the wharf (never caught arrows there b4). The rockpool have dried up as well
  13. they look similar but hairtail is chromy silver and their face looks different. Hair tail doesn't have a eel face and it's teeth are more fangy.
  14. they have very thick skin (I personally remove this but others actually eat it). the flesh is similar texture to calamari except more chewy and sweat.
  15. yup hair tails can get big! plus from what i have seen so far, the size of these mystical creatures have doubled from last years stock
  16. join the inked club! I got done when it was pitch black got me right on the forehead great catch
  17. Updated my area I normally fish in palm beach, it's bit of a distance but the place is safe, has lights and not too busy. It used to be very good for calamari, salmon and talior and occasion other beach fish (though haven't caught a jew yet but did catch a hoodie (i'll call it a hoodie as I couldn't bring it up on the rocks ). I sometimes go to roseville bridge at night, peaceful place and you can catch good size bream, salmon, tailor, flatty, blue swimmer and heaps of baits (discovered this place after trying to catch yakka and hooked a 80cm salmon and same size flatty! lol). Recently went to akuna bay, peaceful, great crowd, no fish I prefer not to fish in dangerous areas, I have fish avoca rocks since 12 and I classify that place as AMDA (all mighty dangerous adventure) even at the calmest times, and many times I have drove there and walked the beach and drove back home as the sea was scary! lol (I want to enjoy fishing for many year to come) I haven't fished much down south side but very kean oh I'm normally a afternoon fisho (getting up early in the morning is the reason why I'm on a full time holiday! lol)
  18. why not ? I'm kinda getting sick of same place. Also my buddy is to drunk to fish with me So if you have a great spot and want a buddy, let me know. I'm on full time holiday so i'm very flexible I know how to fish and keep a great conversation so hope to meet other keen fisho Hope to wet a line with you soon Mark
  19. hmm might hit akuna bay again friday night. I wonder how many people will be there since it was packed on week night! oh it was 99% koreans (we love hair tails). Ps I saw some great improvements in the community (it's been like 10 years). I saw one guy talking about just leaving his rubbish as there are no bins! everyone there heard it and I saw people coming in young and old giving lectures how not to dirty the place. They said everything I could think of and more so I couldn't throw my 2cent lol Im happy to report the sportsmen ship aussies have rubbed into the korean community. Pss also happy to report even with many lines there no tangles as they seem to communicate and learn to fish together it was great atmostphere thus I'm going again:) (though friday night in only land base for hairtail in sydney... seriously I will report on the line count tomorrow night!) 4
  20. well went to landbased in akuna bay tonight. man there are heaps of people! anyway around 9pm one 1.5m+ hail tail came out. big and fat and shinny so they are around but doesn't seem to be in great numbers.
  21. thanks, might do a landbase at akuna bay tonight fingers crossed.
  22. keep it coming. please please keep this post alive. i wanna catch hairtail. It's been like 15years since I caught one
  23. did you guys walked to the lighthouse???
  24. thanks for the feedback. We will try it soon. I like the idea of yakka at roseville as we live 2 minutes from the bridge. Went to palm beach for squidding and lost 2 pretty good condition but squid musnt be hungry. Going back this monring for earily morning (5hours from now!) session and catch those 2 we lost. Anyway thanks for the feedbacks, gotta get my limited sleep now. ciao Mark
  25. thanks for the kind reply. I will look into whale beach next time. We did go out to narrabeen last night. It was high tide at 6pm but we started fishing around 7:30 and it was pitch black. We used gang and salted pilchards and throw at some gutters but nothing for half hour and bait wasn't touched so we packed it. We had new rods and cause it's so dark, we couldn't tell where it was casting. With our old tackle we can comfortably cast with limited visibility as we got acustom to it.... Anyway thanks for the advice. Mark
