  1. this season the Pigs seems to be fatter than before. great catch.
  2. In South Korea, oceans have been over fished so for Rec fishers to actually catch any fish, they need to take a few hours journy on a boat. Do we want this in Australia?
  3. I guess it's due to sponsor ship. Though these day and age sponsors should know by using these SENSORSHIP type of advertising doesn't work. People are smarter now and we know these discussion including NON sponsor brand still provides good advertising as we are talking about similar products they offer and thus most of us eventually end up looking into their products as well. If you restrict the talk of other similar products, then chances of people talking about SPONSORS product also decreases. Also remember sensorship can easily be avoided by people jumping away from Raiders and join other forums. (Something we Raiders don't want it happening)
  4. mate i used to catch fair bit of school sharks up in palm beach. took one home to eat but it wasn't that good so never again
  5. pictures like this makes my fingers twitch!!! welldone.
  6. Hey Dan thanks for the info. Looking at your pic, you seem to be wearing some sort of waterproof pants? i guess this allows you to venture into the waters to get better casting? Is this required? I have a light bream rod with braid, so I'm assuming I need to get some lures. I've been fishing fair bit but only have limited freshwater fishing (penrith weir chasing bass avoiding uni lectures! lol) Mate I'm not sure if I have the right equipments but I'm very keen to catch my first trout, so if you don't mind, I would love to tag along. Cheers, Mark
  7. well done mate. never caught a trout before. how are they in terms of fighting quality? also can you eat them? I've actually never eaten a trout before but from what you see in the supermarket, I assume it tastes like salmon? lately the seas have been really cruel to me, so I might try out the freshy
  8. mate sometimes what you missed out can be the greatest thrill. i bet you'd be telling this story for a while and most of all you'll probably end up with new tackle and enthusiasm to nail it next time. i bet your mind is going nuts thinking about what was actually on the end of the line and how big????
  9. well I'm keen too. I'm on an extended holiday so I'm free 24/7.
  10. apparently gurnards are poor mans lobster mmmm
  11. long time ago, I went to palm beach to fish off the rocks. when we arrived, it was raining and massive waves. we were about to pack it and go home but my little cousin with his little rod dropped his line in a tiny rockpool.... (this rock pool normally doesn't even fill during high tide). we managed to catch 100's of blackies (most released). I am strong supporter of your theory
  12. Penrith Neapean weir is a good family friendly place to catch carps, bass and few freshwater oddballs.
  13. thanks for sharing your shot. i'll try chiswik when it gets bit warmer
  14. wtf, I went to newport beach parking lot, it was dark and rock pool was way too far to walk, so I drove upto some cliff (map seem to show rock pool is directly under this cliff) and asked the family looking down the ocean if this place is where the dead whale is.... THEY SAID IT'S BURIED!!!! so I got into my car and left! NOT HAPPY JAN.
  15. i'll be there around 5-6pm see you there.
  16. I'm considering driving down to newport for some beach fishing and sightseeing. Once in a life time to poke the whale right? Also wouldn't mind taking chunk out of the whale for bait plus to eat! lol (see what the fuss is about!) Anyone thinking the same??
  17. lord, do they actually get that big? are you fishing near nuclear facility?
  18. Parraman, I'm thinking you are from parramatta??? if so why not fish for carps there? During highschool (13 years ago!!!), we used to go to the bridge (near all the cafes and maccas) and use to have a ball catching them. Also Penrith is good too. As for baits, we used bread and also corns but later we developed a killer bait mixing bread, corn, flour, yeast to make a dough. They great fun to catch if they are around. Great on light tackle. If you're keen on freshwater fishing instead of just carping, go down to Penrith weir, best time would be 1hour before sunset, use worms for Bass (great fighter and good tasting according to my hungarian mate), bread for mullets and you know what to use for carps
  19. It seems Oz have yet to discover the fine delicacy of occy Oh flattyfinder I'm up for a squid hunting if you're up for it. I've been squidding the northern beaches but they have failed me miserably for 1 year :( Would love for you to show me around.

I haven't used these scents but I do use scents. All I do is rub the jig on a pilly before casting and I have had much better strike rates. $30 for a spray, roughly how long does the bottle last?
  21. I think squids in pittwater have moved on though last saturday I spoke to bunch of boys who claims saw a guy catch 5 big ones in 30minutes off the palm beach warf.
  22. I was sitting at the end of the new pontoon and casted toward the old pontoon. Maybe it was due to tailors but I had the same result. Tailor I'll be there tomorrow to try again. Hopefully I get to fight with a decent fish. It's been so long I'm actually considering going down west to catch some big eels just for the fun of it
  23. Great move I know the technique, I have the appropriate tackle but I DONT have the Persistence and Patience lol Funny thing is as I'm getting older, I'm getting further away from the 2 P's you mentioned
  24. nice catch, 20 years fishing and I still haven't caught a bonito
