  1. The best tool for cubing pillies so much cleaner than a knife, just hang the pillie over the water and chop away.
  2. Great picture that would be awesome to see. Thanks for sharing Finin
  3. That's a great family trip with some great catches. Pretty hard to beat staying on the waterfront.
  4. I don't get how they justify dropping the height limit from 2.8 to 2.0 m just for towing a boat or even a box trailer. It is odd this has never happened before considering I use to often tow with my Hiace van.
  5. After buying a Plaig bearing I replaced the line roller bearing in my old faithful 2500 Symetre the other day and respooled it. Seems good in the shed. To find the right one I looked at the schematics and typed the number into an international auction website and it popped up. Checked the measurements in the description, purchased and two days and $6 later it was in the letter box. Easy as. I was told it would cost around $60 for shimano to do it.
  6. Agree completely. Their revenue would plummet real quick! So now it costs 25 extra to use the m5 than it has for the past 15 years
  7. Apparently the first lady from the m5 had it all wrong... The height limit is 2.0m with a three axle vehicle. Length does not matter.
  8. Ok so last night I'm reading my toll statement and notice quite a few $12.07 charges. Looking further it is obviously when I tow my boat. Looking at previous statements this hasn't happened before. WTF I'm thinking. I was guessing the Bimini was over height but decided to call the m5 office this arvo. Apparently the rules are a maximum height of 2.9 and length of 12.5. Also no cash back applies as it is considered a truck not a car. The lady informed me if I disagreed with the length I could get an official measure. Just ducking out and measuring my car and boat with the motor on the travel clipI come up with the length around 12m. The 2.9 height isn't tge problem either. So now it seems I have to make an appointment and take my car and boat for an official measure. Very annoyed is an understatement. There is always another way these places are trying to waste our time and money. Did I mention I'm annoyed?
  9. There is a property near Dunns swamp bordering the Woolemi national park. Franks Breakaway only one group is allowed in the camp area at a time. The main camp area also has a covered shed. It's near the river / creek leading from the damn. Around 5k walk to Dunns swamp itself or 10 minutes drive. Up until a few weeks ago it was available this week.
  10. Another nice night in the hacking. By the sounds of it the water temp has dropped the last few weeks
  11. Top fish on a great day. Good job.
  12. A frustrating day with very happy ending well done. Sounds like you learnt heaps as well.
  13. That's a great effort from the yak, well done, a good read as well. Such a nice area too around Elizabeth beach.
  14. Agree with that. Even more so Victoria's 27cm rule. I think it is.
  15. I think the rules are very ambiguous. The DPI on this chart http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/regulations/sw/sw-bag-and-sizeonly refers to the three types of flatties using common names not the scientific ones. On this page the dpi quite clearly says at the bottom legal length of 33cm. That's our typical blue spot http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/375862/Bluespotted-Flathead.pdf. However here it refers to the two species as Southern and Northern Bluespot without mentioning the legal length. To me this could imply they have the same legal length for both species under one common name. http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/saltwater/sw-species/tiger-flathead2 So unless they publish the legal length by scientific name somewhere I guess the safe option is 33cm. Thought?
  16. Sounds like a top day and a great feed at the end of the day.
  17. Thanks Fab1. Yeah Yowie has it mastered. I usually burley but on the surface might try a deeper pot.
  18. Nice session Fabian and good you for sharing your catch. I was on the hacking Friday night for not much result. I havent figured been able to figure out how best to fish it. There was plenty of gars, mullet and a few prawns about and also saw a couple of squid. Wasn't quite as active as a month or so ago.
  19. Yes that's pretty clever. Thanks for sparing me from having to think Grandad
  20. BRUNG IT ON! Obviously I'm missing something with NaCIH20K9. So your one up on me grandad. I didn't realise it was meant to mean something.
  21. I mate picked some up yesterday in the bay so they are around atm.
  22. It is definitely easier with a friend. I agree with fab 1 and would add your probably better off going into the wind whenever possible. It find it annoying just how long boats and crew hang around a ramp getting in every bodies way. When launching solo I mostly pick quiet days and generally use ramps with beaches rather than pontoons. Happy to join you some time or vice versa but probably wont be able to add any extra insights. Drop me a pm if you like.
