    Traverse X Rods

Nice score mate. Traverse-X rods are hard to find. For months i searched high and low for a 10ft Traverse-X and somehow managed to find two . A spin and an overhead version. These are highly regarded by hardbody lure jewfish anglers and also breakwall jewfish anglers. They have enough power to throw big baits and serious stopping power. Still hoping to use them one day Cheers Red

    Cricket

In my opinion, the rot began to set in when we lost Justin Langer to retirement. Hayden and Langer were simply awesome openers, perhaps the best ever! They almost always got us off to a huge start and they'd put the fear of god up the opposition bowlers. Now we can't take wickets, our bowlers score more runs than our batsmen.......oh i feel ill Cheers Red

    Abu Revo's

The Revo is a very good casting reel. I've only had one for a fairly short time. Gotta say, it casts like a bullet and the drag is smooth and strong. They claim to have a serious amount of drag, however when tested with a lie detector it maxxed out at 6kg with a full spool of line. A near empty spool would produce a different reading. An excellent reel for the money, so long as you are casting lures of 3/8oz and up. Cheers Red
  4. Sorry, i meant to say iodine, not ammonia . Glad i'm not the only one who's observed this. Cheers Red
  5. Outstanding effort Stewy and Dan Good to see Grant's old haunt producing nice fish. Regards Red
  6. Yep, nice Blue Mowie. To be entirely honest, i don't rate them as a table fish at all. Maybe we never cooked them correctly however they had a distinct ammonia taste. They were all released from that day on. Has anyone else found they have an ammonia taste? Cheers Red
  7. Great report guys. Congrats
  8. Well done Greg. You've been getting into some quality fish of late. Looking forward to reading about your upcoming marlin expeditions. Bring it on! Cheers Red
  9. I agree with Slinky. Any decent Shimano will do the job. A 4000 Stradic will do the job nicely and you will have lots of change for braid, jig heads and plastics. I had a 3000 Stradic for SP reds and it more than did the job before upgrading to a swanky 3000 sized Daiwa. I think with any plastics combo the good old rule applies....the lighter the better. Hope you enjoy the snapper challenge. Cheers Red
  10. Now there's a great catch. Congrats Cheers Red
  11. G'day Raiders, Well i finally got through! After numerous attempts ringing ph-02 9299 0000 to speak to someone at the MPA, a poorly informed man answers and proceeds to try and baffle me with total nonsense, thinking i was as un-informed as he. Initially i pretented to be a greenie wanting to make a donation. He was very forthcoming with their master plan. He was delighted to informed me that no fisho's were included in their survey. He couldn't even name a credible scientist, and proceeded to admit that they want 25% of the proposed Marine Park to comprise of exclusion zones........that's right, a staggering 25% I asked him "what he thought of line fishermen?" I can't give you the answer here, as it would break the site rules. I then asked him what he thought of Valerie Taylor? He said she was a delightful icon to the green movement. Christ, i near fell off my chair! I asked him how could a person who has confessed to the senseless slaughter of numerous Grey Nurse Sharks, go on to be labelled a "delightful icon" to the green movement, when hypocrit of the highest calibre seems more appropriate! He hung up! But that's ok, i'll ring him again tomorrow and ask for more info.....stay tuned. Regards Red
  12. Reeltired, You have nailed it! I've never doubted that this is indeed how they operate and i thank you so much for confirming. Regards Red
  13. Mate, you are obviously not a pensioner counting every penny. If you are comfortable with paying $40 a kilo for flathead fillet, go for it! If you are comfortable paying $14 a kilo for the filthy (should be banned) Mekong Catfish.....go for it. If your happy paying $28 a kilo for calamari.....go for it too. Even mullet and slimey mackerel sell for ridiculous prices at the fish market. Fact is there are loads of people who would probably never eat seafood if they had to buy it because its too bloody expensive.....my dad happens to be one of them. The only quality meal he gets to enjoy is the fish catches. In the last depression, the people around Malabar survived predominately on wild rabbits. Heaven forbid we don't end up with another depression......and fishing closures on top! Cheers Red
  14. Gee i don't know about that one mate. I'd say the trawler ban is what really saved the bay, not the closure of Quibray/Weeny Bay. Some here would remember the days where there'd be trawler after trawler leaving through the Cooks Breakwall. These trawlers would flog the bay daily for hours on end.......BIG DAMAGE! Who here is old enough to remember all the uprooted sea grass that used to line the foreshore between Kyeemagh and Dolls Point? Cheers Red
  15. Raiders, what exactly is a Marine Park? Especially one without exclusion zones? Do you honestly think the GREENS would be happy with that? What will they have achieved? It would be a disasterous failure to them! Its obviously all or nothing to them and i'd bet London to a brick they would make swift changes easily if and when a so-called "Marine Park" without exclusion zones were introduced. I personally cannot trust them and this is the reason why i oppose Marine Parks.......period. We have little to gain and potentially too much to lose. Cheers Red
  16. BIG, Thanks for boosting people's awareness and helping to achieve unity on this most crucial issue. Best regards Red
  17. Congrats guys. That's a great achievement, especially in such tough conditions. Cheers Red
  18. Congrats to all the people involved. Won't be long before Raider's talented facilitators are competing against their students. Great work guys Cheers Red
  19. You guys are on fire Congrats. Cheers Red

  22. And Sonny Bill will be crying Cheers Red
  23. Goob, you will love the Lancer as it was designed with three purposes in mind.....fishing, fishing and fishing Congats on the jews, especially on catching them with artificials. Great way to christen the rig. Cheers Red
