  1. New interim management arrangements for Mulloway commencing 1 September 2023 Mulloway are an important and iconic species for NSW commercial, recreational and Aboriginal cultural fishers, however stocks in NSW are currently classified as ‘depleted’. Recovering Mulloway stocks in NSW is a key priority for NSW DPI Fisheries. Despite a range of fishing arrangements being implemented in the past, given the reported data, DPI Fisheries managers and scientists have not yet detected measurable improvement in the stock. However, it is noted that recent unprecedented flooding events may assist in improving future recruitment to the fishable biomass and any juvenile Mulloway need to be adequately protected to maximise the success of future recruitment to the fishery. Based on available data, the recreational and commercial sectors each harvest similar proportions of around 50% of the Mulloway catch. A Mulloway Harvest Strategy Working Group was established in 2021 to develop a forward looking Harvest Strategy for Mulloway in NSW. The Harvest Strategy will provide a strategic framework and decision rules to promote stock recovery and equitably manage catch amongst user groups in the longer term. In the short to medium term, interim management arrangements are required that will afford greater protection to the depleted stock and support the recovery of Mulloway. Current stock rebuilding arrangements for Mulloway are enacted through orders issued under section 8 and section 17C of the Fisheries Management Act 1994 that are due to expire 31 August 2023. To protect Mulloway and support stock recovery, new legal instruments establishing new management arrangements will be implemented to replace the expiring orders. DPI Fisheries sought advice from the Mulloway Harvest Strategy Working Group and established advisory councils on additional interim measures to protect the depleted stock. DPI Fisheries considered the available data and is implementing new interim management arrangements in all fisheries from 1 September 2023. These interim arrangements have been designed, using the best available data, to achieve reductions in retained annual catch across all stakeholder groups: Size limit: continuation of the 70 cm minimum legal length (all sectors) Bag and boat limit for recreational fishers: continuation of the daily bag limit of one Mulloway per person and a new boat limit of two Mulloway per boat per day Boat limit for the charter sector: a new boat limit of three Mulloway per boat per day Take and possession limits for commercial fishers: A new zero kilogram take and/or possession limit for endorsement holders in the Lobster and Southern Fish Trawl fisheries, and a new 200 kilogram daily take and/or possession limit for all other endorsement holders in the Estuary General, Ocean Trap and Line, Ocean Hauling and Ocean Trawl fisheries. Previously there were no direct controls on commercial Mulloway catch , other than a 500 kilogram daily catch limit for the Ocean Haul Fishery, with the catch levels in all other sectors being managed by input controls such as gear and effort restrictions. The aim of these new interim measures is to provide greater protection to adult fish in order to support the recovery of the currently depleted Mulloway population, which will allow all stakeholders to enjoy sustainable access to the fishery into the future. These arrangements are interim arrangements, pending the finalisation and implementation of the formal Harvest Strategy for Mulloway, which will involve new approaches to management of Mulloway catch and effort across all fishing sectors. The draft mulloway harvest strategy will be finalised by the Mulloway Harvest Strategy Working Group soon and this will provide a further opportunity for stakeholder consultation. DPI Fisheries will continue with the work already underway to promote protection for juvenile mulloway across all fishing sectors. The work underway to enhance Mulloway bycatch reduction in NSW commercial fisheries will continue and technical support will be available to those fishers that require additional assistance to modify fishing operations to avoid Mulloway bycatch as part of adapting to the new interim measures. DPI Fisheries will also continue the recently enhanced compliance and data collection programs for Mulloway fishing in NSW across all fishing sectors. The Harvest strategy will provide further guidance to these initiatives.
  2. We did a lap in our caravan 4 years ago and enjoyed exploring our beautiful country. Streaky Bay Islands Caravan Park is new and the most wonderful park with ocean views. It is pet friendly and I highly recommend it. We did not go to Fowlers Bay, it is quite remote. Its a great journey with your caravan in tow Bob. Nullarbor crossing is a real adventure. I am sure some members will add some info here however I will link a fishing guide and a report from a member https://tackleworldadelaide.com.au/social/blog/eyre-peninsula-fishing-guide/
  3. All members please re-read the Community Rules and Terms of Use. Thanks all
  4. Good to see you back @Berleyguts. Sorry for your loss. Your fishraider trivia daily scores are getting harder to beat btw. Stars - best and outstanding band!!
  5. Hi @ifraan the posts you are replying to were made a few years ago. Have you introduced yourself to the community? Tell us a bit about yourself 👏
  6. Good info and thanks @Jiggy @big Neil try to get some Taswegians on our forum
  7. Have a great trip @big Neil I have never been to Tasmania and many report how beautiful it is.
  8. @Derny Driver many of the members would have known Geoff. We met him at socials that we held at Botany Bay and at boat shows. He was a lovely man. He was very helpful to members and took newbies out fishing. He answered most questions in the Boating sub forum. He was very knowledgeable. Thanks for letting us know. He will now be moved into our special group Eternal Members. Please pass on our regards to his family. They may like to read some of his 1500 odd posts. RIP Geoff
  9. Agree with womens’ sport needing more coverage. I am aware of our netballing Diamonds’ great achievements too @Green Hornet World Cup and Comm Games Gold medallists. Bit hard for fans to get to Cape Town where the cup was played. Australia is the host country and it’s very easy and affordable ($20 a ticket) for people to attend the games and watch at live sites. The Matildas are winning matches and the general public are showing patriotic interest. You can’t go anywhere today without seeing national pride. Every school has events and fun things on for kids today. Hope everyone who watches enjoys the game tonight ⚽🇦🇺
  10. Oh @Marilyn Knol very sorry to hear this news Thank you for joining fishraider and letting us know
  11. I have no idea where you got those "real facts"?? It has been widely reported on news.com.au, SMH and other publications that the ozTAM ratings revealed that the Matildas' penalty shootout smashed Australian TV ratings records. It became the MOST WATCHED EVENT since Cathy Freeman won her gold at the Sydney Olympics! The Matildas will break their own viewing record tomorrow night no doubt. Lets get back to the original post intent and wish the Matildas the very best from all of us.
  12. @Derny Driver hope you have our Deckee App as it will answer and help with lots of your queries. In the app you can plan any trips. Set up your vessel size etc then add the location you intend to go to. It gives you a list of what is legally and safety wise needed. There is also a list of courses you can book to improve your skills on the water.
  13. Nice to see you back @clutch Good report and look forward to more from NZ waters
  14. Rugby League has been losing fans for a long time now. Player behaviours on and off the field are becoming more extreme and disturbing. It is nowhere near the most watched sport. Good luck tomorrow to our wonderful Matildas ⚽️🇦🇺
  15. @Rebel I think you have missed the point here. This is about womens sport and lifting its profile. It’s about our national pride and never giving up. I have not watched too many soccer games really. Recently I found myself watching and enjoying our Australian Matildas team playing and progressing. I will be following it now for sure. The NRL is getting boring. The only reason I am following it at all is the fishraider tipping comp. By the way I am leading by 5 points 👏👏 GO THE TILDAS 🇦🇺⚽️ (from a proud female Aussie)
  16. I am quite sure last night most raiders watched the mighty Matildas take on France and win a spot in the semi final. This was a magnificent battle to say the least, a very dramatic penalty shootout. Of any sporting event this is the most significant in Australian history. Women's sport is now on the map well and truly. Those of us with daughters, sisters, wives, grandaughters can be proud that they can play women's sport and have the opportunity to rise to this level. I can't wait until Wednesday when the Tildas play England. My grandaughter is named Matilda and her father is British! Happy Birthday to Katrina Gorry for today - what a day to celebrate for her. Look on Disney+ to stream the 6 episode documentary called Matildas: The World at Our Feet. It reveals the sacrifices made and struggles endured to prepare for this World Cup journey. It is well worth the watch!
  17. Lovely to see this guys. Great photos! Keep enjoying life

The $16 million investment in this boating destination is a welcomed boost to the Sunshine Coast marine industry with an anticipated economic impact for the region of $52.68 million and 119 new jobs. The marina is the culmination of an eight-year collaboration between joint venture partners Pelican Waters Heart who developed Pelican Waters, and Les Binkin’s Marine Holdings Australia, who designed and operate the facility. Pelican Waters Marina Director Les Binkin said the environmental and sustainability visions had been paramount in the construction and delivery of the marina. “Pelican Waters Marina has worked closely with Council, Unitywater and other authorities to operate as a clean marina and safe harbour for boaties, ensuring the waterways are protected,” Mr Binkin said. “The marina implements a specialised sewerage pump-out system for boats, plus a boatyard for marine repairs in accordance with best practice to manage waste and run-off. “It also offers marine berths instead of moorings in the Pumicestone Passage to avoid impacts on sea grass and other aquatic plants via anchor damage.” Pictured (left to right) are: Neil Patchett, GM Government & Public Relations BIA; Les Binkin Pelican Waters Marina Director; and Mayor Mark Jamieson, Sunshine Coast Council. Industry standards in review at SIBS One of the much-talked about new technologies entering the marine industry is electric propulsion and the BIA Member Services team took the opportunity to discuss developments in this segment with leading manufacturers and suppliers during the Sydney International Boat Show. Interest the work underway at ISO/TC188 Small Craft standards concerning two new standards for electric propulsion and lithium batteries was received, and BIA will be proposing several new contacts for the standards working groups to support this important work. Alongside the show, BIA also chaired the Standards Australia Small Craft committee to debate and confirm a series of new projects to update and improve AS 1799, the domestic standard for small boat design, addressing key safety criteria of the Australian Builders Plate. New work to develop further industry education on this key topic is expected over the next six to nine months. A PPSR registration lets others know that you are claiming a security interest in the goods when you are selling on retention of title terms or when hiring, renting or leasing out goods for more than two years. This is particularly helpful for businesses and sole traders in areas such as construction who frequently sell, lease or hire out plant and machinery, either separately or as contracts of works. With a valid registration, you are in the best position to get your goods, or their value back, if your customer doesn’t pay or goes out of business. A valid registration on the PPSR may also put you ahead of other creditors should your customer default or go broke. Remember: A retention of title clause (indicating that title remains with you until goods are paid for in full) in your contract or invoice no longer protects you on its own. Make sure you back up your contracts by registering your interest on the PPSR.
