Larkin
headed out to port hacking at 6am today, fished the drop off the sand bank at Lilly Pilly and around the entrance to south west arm. Using nippers. pillies, strips and squid. Hooked up 3 reddies unfortunately all were just under 30cm. Water was quite clear and could see some schools of fish around 40-50 cm underneath on the drop off, but weren’t taking any baits. quite a few rays about, banjos ect and even saw a 1.5m wide manta ray Caught the 31cm luddrick on a nipper on the flats while trying for whiting. Couldn’t get onto any whiting, but did see some good sized ones around the sand on the Chanel leading to Lilly pilly baths. No whiting seen on the flats at Gunnamatta either. Hooked a 40cm tailor in Gunnamatta bay but released himself when he touched the net. All in all was good to get out on the water.
Yowie
At least you managed something for the table. I find with the whiting, if you can see them, they can see you and will not readily bite. The manta ray was most likely an eagle ray.

The morning before I was pumping nippers at sans souci and had around 30 small whiting (15cm) following me around - I wonder if anyone catches any decent sized whiting there. 11 hours ago, masterfisho7 said: Two table fish well done Bit of variety, the good old ludrick on goes well on the plate. 10 hours ago, Rebel said: Great report. Larkin
Wife and kids wanted to go to Darook park beach today - got there around 5pm hoping the crowds had left by then - still busy, but people started leaving. Took the rod, and hit the edge of the beach for some whiting. Hooked up around 6 or 7 in a couple of hours. Most around 25cm - but 2 were keepers 28 & 29
