  3. oh! about the size of a yakka , yes... i thought that they were only an estuary species , ive had them and they are ok on the plate, well you learn a new thing every day they say , thanks for the reply

  6. i have a number of reels, some when it was all the go to have the best when i was younger , these days i will buy the cheapest , with 3 + 1 line roller bearings, take them apart clean and regrease because they do not put the right amount of grease and oil where it needs it (bearings) etc and i also look for a new set of bearings for it that i keep as a spare set , the difference the grease and oil change makes is obvious from the very first time that you use them , and they do last a very long time if you wash , dry, oil, after every time you use them , about once a year its also a good idea to change the drag washers also .
  7. better be quick raiders , theres not much left at this very moment
  8. has anyone ever told you that you look exactly like Guillaume Brahimi , top chef by the way , and congrats on the catch

  11. it will be much easier with the MP3 to do all i want the way that i see it , like your self i do not like using smart phones, and i also don't know much about technology , as i said it was your suggestion that made me aware about MP3 players and that one could also voice record on one of them , any other way will take me quite a while if i have to learn with someone's help or a lot longer if i had to look up (how to ) through google chrome, it means a lot to me to have such good help when ever i need it , stay well and i am sure we will chat again some other time because i ask all sorts of help/advice here from time to time , thank you for all your help bye for now .
  12. hes an older work mate retired 74 , never had to use computers etc , after reading all of this i was looking up MP3 to get a better understanding etc , when i came across mp3 player/recorders , they can be quite cheap , im thinking about buying one of them( 128 gb storage) record the letter on to it and send it to him , all he has to do is press play , save us going through all the steps it will take to do everything on line , like to hear your thoughts on this ,
  13. Derek and James have come up with two ideas that will work well for me , the letter will take way too long to read, over an hour , thank you for the advice stay well.
  14. Did i say this sounds brilliant , thing is how to record the voice letter onto a windows 10 PC , thank you for the great idea !!!
  15. Hi Derek , i am using a PC , i have one PC that has (DVD multi recorder) printed on it on it , its also got compact disk rewritable, USB sticks are the go but i don't think that my mate has anything to play it on,
  16. hello raiders , need some complicated advice , need to send an old time friend a letter ... however there is much to say and it will take something the size of a small novel , so i came up with the idea of sending them a CD/ or dvd with audio only no pictures etc, i dont have expensive equipment etc , just a desk top computer , do anyone of you know how to go about it? .... the closest thing i can think of is someone burning a personal singing tape/dvd and i dont know how they go about making one of them , any advice is welcome, and yes i know that i can use the telephone instead but thats not what i want to do here , thank you for reading all of this
  17. thank you very much Donna, this place means so much to me , i get a lot of support from all of the members with good advice that i would never be able to find anywhere else , i hope we keep this site going for many years , stay well.
  18. bait anchored in one spot by a sinker , is much easier to locate because of the smell by fish, a lure passing by a fish in very low visibility is hard to spot .
  19. local knowledge is key , what works in one place does not work somewhere else , tides , bait, lures , time of the year , if there's been rain or not, day or night , time of the month , barometric pressure , water temperature, it all plays a role , those that keep a diary and fish a place often usually out fish someone that does not , there's some real keen east coast fishermen with their own channels that post their own videos from time to time , start watching some of their videos and take notes , use what they use , and in time everything will start getting easier ,
  20. very interesting read, its good to hear from someone that knows/understands statistics and is able to explain it to all of us once again thank you for your help with this ,
  21. same here , ive fished the harbour for decades , ate the catch don't have issues , but as they have pointed out there are dioxins in the fish and everyone has a right to know the risks involved for what ever reason , previous studies do not appear to be all that accurate ,
