  1. G`day Miller , Lawrie , went stalking flatties this morning , but as yet I have not heard anything . If anything is happening on the river , he`s your man . Mick
  2. G`day Fellas , Come on guys , must be a heap of concreters On Here . Give a mate a hand , 3 hours max, 5 slabs of VB or Tooheys is the standard for I slab of concrete . Pity I`m so far away , I`m no concreter , but I`ve helped many a mate lay a slab , its not brain surgery , forming up is the hardest part . Mick
  3. G`day Fellas , Pete , I heard a rather interesting story the other week at the Bowlo. The conspiracy theory was simply " that this " Goon" they brought out from the US , is only here to oversee our Telco Monopoly Telstra , having been broken up , sold off to American interests. I said krap , that won`t happen because of the cross media rules , and bugger me , a few days later , out trots that Scarecrow " The minister For Misinformation , and failed communications , "Helen Coonan" , to announce that " The Old Cross Media Laws " were outdated and are to be scrapped . That simply means that the Moguls can buy and do what they like. Don`t generaly dwell on conspiracy theories these days , but I`m starting to question all the motives lately. Must we be mushrooms forever ?, better still , how much longer can this country afford this overseas compost . Mick
  4. G`day fellas , Hi pete ,As you can see by our selectons , we seldom take short priced horses. Rather , the idea is to find a couple of roughies , ( preferably 3 ) take a place parlay , and hopefully profit over the 50 odd weeks we put our money in. A little bit slow this year , but we are officially square with the card at the moment , and with any sort of luck in the weeks that follow , things could improve dramatically . Its all a bit of fun , and some of the family are very tinny with their selections . Mick
  5. G`day Fellas , Once again , 4 metre seas followed by 6 foot tides have gutted the beaches here again. Then to add to the misery , the winds at times have been gale force , so it will be at least a week to 10 days before anything happens off the beaches here I`m afraid. Mick
  6. G`day Fellas , Ta Stewy , Got my eye on A new PC for Fathers Day , Won Half of it , now for the Other 1/2 . Mick

  8. Well Fellas , you Just won`t believe this !. Yesterday arvo , I got a call from an old fishing buddy in Sydney . Now although not on line , he was shown a pic of Lawries Record Tailor whilst visiting his grandson for a family Barbecue . Then ,after reading the story , and making a few enquireries, he knew straight away who the author was , and so , after tracking me down , called to have a chat , and naturally catch up on old times. But now , get this , he too had fished the Stones at Jervis Bay , and then totally blew me away when he told me that even though Rob Barretts fish was a good one , My Niece`s Husband , Jason Scafidi , still holds the record for a KINGFISH taken from the Stones , and it went 31~point something Kilos, so , can you believe that !! , well bugger me , it’s a small world isn`t it . I knew Jaso loved his fishing , in fact the the whole family are camping nuts , but I never knew he was into the LB game stuff. Anyway I hadn`t seen Jason all that much , in fact he told me last night when I rang him , that it was about 8/9 years ago, so time surely does fly. So , he will be sending me the Photos of his record catch , and I will post them on here for all to see . I think he said it was weighed at Deans Tackle and Bait shop , but I must admit I have forgotten where that was , Jervis bay I think , but I `m nor quite sure . And rest assured , that when they finally get hooked up with their long awaited broadband service , ( 2 months waitng list ) he will be a regular visitor to Fishraider. And as you would expect , will have some pretty good experiences to share with us Raiders , not only about the Fish that have been caught there , but also the guys that catch them as well . I for one can`t wait …… Mick

  10. G`day Fellas , Stew , Spin doctors advise Monopolies like Telstra , that 99% of people just don`t want the hasssle of moving their account to another providor , and thats why they put up with it , well I have had enough , so I jumped ship . But Everbody , should read the transcript from the link below , it will leave you gnashing your teeth. http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2006/s1710050.htm Mick
  11. G`day Fellas , The 7.30 Report on aunty (ABC) last night covered the story of the ADSL debacle. The short of it was , that Telstra was trying to blackmail the FEDS into doing it their way. BUT Listen to this , Ivor Ries , spokesperson for Baillieu Stockbokers said with a wry smile on his face : "OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS , 2 MILLION CUSTOMERS HAD DESERTED TELSTRA" , leaving them with 8 million , and they did not want to loose another 2 million . Now the implied threat here was , that the ADSL+2 Issue was going to be the catalyst to have Millions of Customers leaving Telstra to avail themselves of the faster broadband speed with other carriers , no matter what . Ironically , yesterday morning , I bundled my Phone & Internet service over to AAPT , after receiving my Telstra phone bill with the ( Now Expected monthly Increases ) once again. For me this was the final straw , every month without fail , my bill contained 3/4 pages of useless explanations of why they were increasing this or that , or why this service would no longer be provided , etc, etc . Exasperation finaly overcome me , so I have Deserted Telstra , Never to return , and yes I will probably be a few dollars worse off , but only a few , actually , less than $5 . So , this morning I feel strangely liberated in an odd sort of way , just like the time I left home . Telstra now has....7,999,999 customers left , care to make a statement and join me ??. Mick
  12. G`day Fellas , Yeah Hi Netic , I just checked that site , and it turns out we do not have ADSL +2 at my exchange , so Its bad luck I guess . Mick
  13. G`day Fellas , Ram , who exactly are you with , and if possible , post a link . Is it a buisness account , or can anyone play ?. Mick
  14. G`day Fellas , I think You will like this one. John Howard called Peter Costello into his office one day and said, "Peter my boy I have a great idea! We are going to go all out to win the country voters." "Good idea PM, how will we go about it?" said Costello. "Well," said Howard, "we'll get ourselves one of those Driza Bone coats, some RM Williams boots, a stick and an Akubra hat, oh and a Blue Cattle dog. Then we'll really look the part. We'll go to a typical old outback country pub, we'll show them that we really at home there." "Right PM," said Costello. Days later, all kitted out and with the requisite Blueheeler (poor bloody dog doesn't get to pick does he ? ) a bit, like being in the army (they set off from Canberra in a westerly direction. Eventually they arrived at just the place they were looking for , and found a typical outback pub. Walked in with the dog and up to the bar. "G,day mate," said Howard, to the bartender, "two middies of your best beer." "Good afternoon Prime Minister," said the bartender, "two middies of our best coming up". Howard and Costello stood leaning on the bar drinking their beer and chatting, nodding now and again to those who came into the bar for a drink. The dog lay quietly at their feet. Then , All of a sudden, the door from the adjacent bar opened and in came a grizzled old stockman, complete with stockwhip. He walked up to the Cattle dog, lifted it's tail with the whip and looked underneath, shrugged his shoulders and walked back to the other bar. A few moments later, in came another old stockman with his whip. He also walked up to the dog, lifted it's tail, looked underneath, scratched his head and went back to the other bar. Over the course of the next hour or so, another four or five stockman came in, lifted the dog's tail and went away looking rather puzzled. Eventually, Howard and Costello could stand it no longer and called the Barman over. "Tell me my good man," said Howard, "why did all those old stockmen come in and look under the dog's tail like that? Is it an old outback custom?" "Strewth no!" said the barman. "It's just that someone went in and told them that there was a Cattle dog in this bar with two arseholes!" Mick
  15. G`day Fellas , My neighbour just handed me the Manning River Times pointing out the article featured in the Post below. Now although they ran the story and photo of Lawries enormous Tailor last week , they have re-run it again today , but this time , with some reflections of the good old days , by a pair of their Fishing Archivists who also love to wet a line . Note the date of the Archive Feature ! , Jan 17 1933 , 73 years ago , which just goes to prove I guess , that fish like this one , only come around once in a lifetime . Felas , in a way I guess our Generation was a bit luckier than the current one , because when we tell you that Bream weighing 5 pounds were common back in the good old days , it was true. The same goes for Large Tailor , fish up to 8LB were the Norm , and Kingfish 50 LB and over were a dime a dozen back then. Big Jews , some 100LBS and over , were being taken regularly up and down the coast , but most of these catches went unreported by most Anglers of that period , that is unless they belonged to a club of some sort , and then it got coverage , but most times , we just put the Knife through them and fed the frames back to the sea. Today though , even with all the New Technology , you still have to have a little Bit of luck , but mostly , you have to put the time in . Mick
  16. G`day Fellas , I think you should seriously consider divorce Mate ! . How long you been married , 30/40 years ?. If its any less and the fire has gone out ................wellll ,oh boy .. Mick
  17. G`day Fellas , Inky : "guy on the other end of the phone line" , is Idiot , reading from Idiot Sheet. I always insist on speaking to nothing less than a supervisor . Ya still don`t win , but at least you have the satisfaction of talking to someone who knows better , but still must hold the company line. One Day Fellas , One day !!!!. Mick
  18. G`day Fellas , Say What You Like About NZ , but this week NZ Telecom , will flick the switch , and 6 million Kiwi`s will have a Standard broadband service Of " 2 gigs " , yep you read it right , 2 ......freaking Gigs. We Have it here too , but Telstra , will not allow it to go ahead , they would rather keep pursuong their end goal of Single Monopoly status , while spending 4 billion Dollars on fibre optic , which some Geeks say , is a total waste of time and money ( "geeks" Please feel free to Elaborate on this matter if indeed it`s true ) . According to the talking head on the ABC , telstra is so single minded with its " Predatory Tactics " to remain the Single Monopoly , they are whitelining , and frothing at the mouth in this pursuit. For those of you ( and Me ) who are plugging along at 512 , or 256 , ask yourself why are we paying 40/50/70/100 bucks per month for a lousy 200/500/ I gig to 20 gigs download s when all of NZ has no downlooad or upload limits. It`s bloodywell beyond Me , and I`ve had a gutfull of this do nothing government , that allows this to drag on and on , and on , and on and on . Fair Dinkum , NZ ...2 gig ....broadband standard .............Li`l ...Old.... Oz....256 standard!!!!!!!!!. Mick

  20. G`day Fellas , It looks like you guys had a total ball . It makes the heart glad , to see the youngies there and fishing with the mums and dads . Nothing keeps a family closer together , than a man and his family , standing together , watching the sun set after a marvellous day fishing togheter. Did anyone fish the rocky foreshore opposite Sandy Point for blackfish ? , Or was that too far awy from where you were. Mick
  21. G`day Fellas , You Know what , I think things are starting to get a little desperate on this continent . I heard a report here yesterday , that its all to do with the Suns cycle , and we could expect to get back to normal rains in 2 years or so . I`m wondering how much longer those poor battered Buggers on the Land can hang on , I think two years will be the end for most of them . Mick
  22. G`day Fellas , Thanks Stew , and good luck to all. Bad day for anything but a beer and a bet Eh guys ?. Raing Here , and In Sydney , but did any of the Sydney rain Hit the dam ???. Mick

  24. G`day Fellas , Lil fella and Lawrie , Went for a quick look at Smiths Beach this morning where Lozza got that monster Tailor. When they arrived , they were amused to see , 13 odd People scatteredall around that spot. Now the boys saw some nice fish in the buckets , and when Lozza went over to check , one was about 8/9 lb , but nothing like the one he got . Obviously there are still some good greenies about , but Lozzas fish , is a fish of a lifetime. Mick
  25. G`day Fellas , Huntings , can I ask you where you caught those Blackies mate ?. Mick
