G`day Fellas , You know , what amazes me the most is , that these people honestly belive that they are the only ones in the world that knows "A" particular spot. In reality , there is probably not one single area in the entire sydney basin that is Unknown to at least a dozen or so fishermen . But one of the most possessive Fishermen , are The Sandmen , and although I`m a Sandman , I belive in sharing spots and info with my Mates . Most Sandmen will tell you they caught their catch 10 kilometres upstream from where they actually did , in the solid belief that if they go back to the verry same spot tomorrow night , the same fish will be waiting for he and only he , time and time again . There are others also , that honestly belive , that the entire East coast of Oz was created solely for their own personal use , and they , are the ones I feel most sorry for. Personally, I just cant see what all the fuss is about , because sooner or later , Fishermen being what they are , they will have to tell someone of their deed , and of course , when you tell I , you tell 100 , and when you tell 100 , you tell a 1000 , its human nature . If you have never had a mate call you and tell you "they are biting at *********, then you just don`t make friends easily . Mick

G`day Fellas , I was focusing more on on the seemingly euphoric state he was in , rather than the politics . His body language was strongly suggesting to me , that this was more than a giveaway budget , but more of a sweetener for his Transition to PM. But for those who were expecting increases in child care , education , and health , well , if they follow the same routine as the last 10 bugets , ( Yes this was his 11th ) the next one will be a Doozie. Evey election Budget , they have spent just about everything in the kitty , thereby leaving no room for the oppostion to move , and with 38 billion already in the economy from this budget , and an 11 billion dollar surplus already forecast for 2007 , no wonder the Reserve Bank is warning of another Rate rise as soon as August . I will be watching with great interest , what unfolds over the next month or two , and If I`m wrong , I`ll stop playing Party Poker on thursday nights. Although I have to say , even though I have been knocked out early over the last two weeks , amazingly , the 4 of us who go together , have either won or ran second over the last 4 weeks . Mick

G`day Fellas , I`m curious to know if anybody else got the Feeling , when watching Peter Costello handing down Last Nights Budget , that he had been told Howard is about to step down and his time had come?. I just got the feeling somehow , that this 10th budget was a handover budget , anyone else agree ?. I cant see any loosers in this budget , which would suggest that something is afoot . Mick

Heya Clutchie , Probably the greatest escape ever . Boy what a Marathon , and if we were drained by the waiting and the disappointments , immagine just how bloody tough these two Fellas are. G`day Fellas , Hazzard is a supremley apt title for the area you intend to fish DJ. You don`t say if you are a beginner or have experience at RF`ing , so if you are inexperienced , stay away from Ben Buckler untill you have gained some experience . Grab a buddy who is an experienced rockfisher and get him to show you the ropes . If you have the skills to fish the area , then Just about anything can be taken from BB in Season. One trick I learnt yonks ago , was to hack the crusts of a 1/2 loaf of Bread , and cut into strips 3 to 4 cms long , and as wide and thick as your thumb. Add a small split shot to a 9LB line about 50 cms away from a 2/0 suicide hook . There is is a sort of horseshoe bend back from the southern side of BB , and if you flop the line holding the bread into the wash there , most times you will grab som verry nice bream , and the odd big pig. Tailor ,Salmon, macks, Kingies,bream , trevally,groper, Blackfish , drummer , sweep, and Rock cod are all on the menu as well. Target your species , and fish safely . Mick

Murray Cod of 80-90cm have been determined to be between 8 and 22 years of age. A Murray Cod of 125cm, weighing 36kg, was determined to be 34 years of age. G`day Fellas , I gave the Photo back before I wrote the Anglers name down , but I`ll get it tonight at The Poker Tournament. The fish went 75 LB according to Fisheries Inspectors who did all the measurements , but the Angler has called it in at 70 Lb , rather than overstate the weight. More Tomorrow. Mick

"There's a pig stuck in the bullbars and is still alive but he's kicking and squealing so much I can't get him free" he said. "Okay," said the boss. "In the back of the ute there's a .30-30, Put it up to the pig's head and shoot it. When its body goes all limp you'll be able to get it off the bullbars and throw it into the bush." About 45 minutes later the Ringer called in again, "I did what you said, boss. I shot the pig in the head, he went all limp and I got him off the bullbar, no problem. But I still can't go on." "Why not?" asked the boss. "What's the problem?" "Well it's his motorbike ... the flashing blue light is jammed under the wheel-arch." Mick

G`day Fellas , Hey Monds , I agree with you entirely. Its a well known fact that bream are a very hearty breed and good survivors . There are also a Stack of other breeds that recover well , and I`m fine with chasing that specific species for some sort of a record for gamesmanship , and now because we tag and release most game species , we are beginning to find out what those are. But not so for the Old Flattie I`m afraid , The flattie has the worst recovery rate of them all sadly. I don`t know how many juvenile flatties I have returned to the surf , only to see them wash up further down . SO , fishing too light ,for too big a fish has to do some damage , but I dont think it seems to worry most of the surface feeders too much. I too caught a Big Greenie just last year , with a set of 4 ganged 6/0 hooks in its throat , as well as my 3 ganged 4/O`s as well. Mick

G`day Fellas , Slipped back up to That Spot I posted on here some time back , and as we arrived the wind began blowing its butt off. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/inde...topic=10838&hl= Anyway Soon after my Ist cast , I landed a small bream that can you believe , stilll had two hooks dangling from the side of its mouth , one rusty , one reasonable shiny . Bugga , I thought as I checked my bag for the Camera , then realised I had left it on the top of the Fridge when I got the Bait out. Never mind I thought , no big deal , so I dehooked him and returned him to the river . One of My Two FB`s was casting lures and against my sound advice lost a pair of new Rio Prawns and another soft Plastic one as well. So baits and sinkers ruled from then on in , but the wind was unbearable , and Just as we agreed to pull the pin , off went my 6LB outfit . Now as soon as I set the hook , I new it was something solid , because it peeled off 50 metres of line in a heartbeat , on 3/4 drag . I played the bugger as best I could , and on the second run , I knew it was a Sting Ray , so I just tried to steer him away from the mangroves and get him as close as I could to Cut the line and set him free. But can you belive this , when I finally got him close enough to cut him off , he was about 1 metre accross the flaps , I could see he had been de-tailed , almost up to his spine , and sadly the cut at the butt of his tail was as clean as a whistle. Why anyone would want to inflict this sort of injury on a marine creature is beyond me , and I just hope he does not own a pet. Mick

G`day Monds, My Dad always gave 6 boat lengths as a reasonable distance to anchor up from others there Ist. I would think Upstream of the others , but if there`s more than 3 boats on a particular ground , I would look for another. Common sense would apply as to noise when anchoring , only yahoos swing the anchor around their shoulders before casting it out , most fishos , just ease it over the side and make as little noise as possible . Where a boat nearby has hooked onto a monster , there is not much you can do really , and especially if you are alone . Once you pull your anchor , you begin to drift immediately unless you start your motor ist , and then you will have 100 feet of rope dangling beneath your boat untill you retrieve your anchor, so I think its best to just stay put. Excessive noise is considered an absolute NO_NO when fishing Monds ,and the only other thing worse than rowdy fisho`s , is drunken ones , hammering all over the place creating wash , and endangering others. Most biffos you see at boat ramps are generally from something that happened on the water rather than someone pushing in. Thats My thoughts on the Matter. Mick
