G'day raiders, I was talking to one of my fishing buddies up here today. He is an older bloke and knows his way around a rod and reel. He's caught many a fish and big fish at that over the years but is very much an "old school fisho". We were talking about technology and far it has come over the years but he still prefers to line up landmarks such as "this beach with this headland etc". I was explaining about structure scan and dsi etc. he says "oh yeah I got one of those", really I said. Then he shows me his latest technology sounder...... Lol...... The sounding is printed on a paper ream. I've never seen one before but if you look close enough it seems to work really well and will show arches, bait and everything! Wow, we certainly have come along way over the years! Cheers scratchie!!!

Yes mate I remember the boat. I think next year we should all get our act together and have a dedicated/agreed radio channel for raiders. It would be great to communicate with a few boats out there!

Mate, the radio was silent up there. Most of the game boats have gone home that's why! If I knew there were more raiders about I would have jumped on the radio.

There is when it is finally recorded. It may take a few weeks but I'll find out tonight. Pub night with the boys. For the record, The winner was from my shoal bay fishing club Paul Lennon. Shoal bay also won biggest jew and 3rd jew.

Definitely a king. As yes you should have locked your drag. Short bursts of pump and wind. Better luck next time!

I think in open water you can play the fish (assuming king) a lot better. When structure comes into play, you are forced to lock the drag up and put a bit of hurt on or you will lose the fish. It can sometimes be a catch 22 but I would have used a tighter drag. Your set up of 30/50lb is great and would land most kings but then there is that occasional hoodie that a steel cable wouldn't stop in that situation. Keep at it and I'm sure you'll be reporting that king soon enough! Cheers scratchie!!!

Mate, your neighbour is being a tosser! It's none of his business whether you run you motor or not as long as it is within the timeframes set by the council. If you would like some additional noise, I can send my four kids down for the weekend. That'll sort him out. Your well within your rights to run it all day if you see fit.
