  1. Thanks Yowie. I'd probably be getting the shakes if I wasn't able to wet a line. I'm sure you'll make up for lost time. That's an amazing session. Your arms would have got a good workout! The siennas can definitely hold their own considering the price bracket. I'm starting to see how good a simple metal can be. Thanks Welster. Glad you enjoyed watching it. More to come as always.
  2. Awesome bag of 'red bream' there Jeff! 😎😎
  3. Thanks Neil. I appreciate those comments. It was a just a pleasant day out on the water which started with zero expectations of any action but it quickly heated up. More videos to come as usual. I use Sony Vegas Pro 11.0. Thanks for the support Adem! I've rewatched it many times myself already lol Appreciate it masterfisho7. Thanks kingie chaser. Dropping that first hook up was probably a good thing after what jumped onto my line after that
  4. G'day guys. I was out with my mate Terry on Port Hacking River the other day chasing fish out the front via trolling using metals. I had a gillies metal about 40g or so and just tossed it out the back of the boat and sat back waiting for bites. It's not something I've done before and it was interesting just seeing how something so simple could be so effective. We also spun some metals through some bust ups which were most probably salmon and tailor but there were obviously kings in the mix around the legal size. One notable moment was when we passed over a school of fish and we instantly had a double hook up. Terry was onto a salmon which was pulling some string and doing some spectacular somersaults through the air! I dropped the initial fish and I was doing my very best to get my lure back in and out of the tangle which occurred in that action-packed moment. I quickly recast, wound in the metal at speed and shortly was nailed on the surface by a legal kingfish. It was such an awesome day out there that I almost forgot that we are still in the midst of winter! I'm already looking forward to the next time I wet a line! Thanks for reading guys!
  5. Nicely done Jeff, particularly in a week marred by rough conditions.
  6. Thanks mate. Yep, I was really surprised that I was still in it even just after a few seconds. It was like a cut of some sort. I think I had most of the leader come back so it might have snapped as it nicked teeth or a rock. I didn't feel any rubbing but it was going so quick I think that was the main reason. Thanks Jim and yes should be plenty more to come but hopefully a little less on the smokings I hope! I can't fault the way kings fight as they always get the heart racing. Appreciate it.
  7. Thanks Rebel. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks Jonno! True, especially since I knew it was a kingfish I could exert maximum hurt on it (at least to the gear's limit). If it were a jewfish I would be too careful and probably get bricked under the pontoon lol. Cheers jnrfinatic! I love watching videos, it gets the blood pumping! Thanks for the vote of confidence Jeff! I thought the first run would have been all she wrote. I've heard of fishing under pontoons for bream and getting dusted, but kings... lol! I'll get them next time though, I hope... 😂
  8. The best kind of hook ups! 😎 😂
  9. Thanks Neil. Although at the time, it's a roller coaster of emotions, I enjoy re-watching myself get smoked.
  10. Yep, I had it coming... 😃 😭 😭😭 I was out the other day on the Parramatta River chasing bream again using a light outfit consisted of 2-4kg 7' rod and 2000 sized reel using 6lb line. It started off well, catching a few fish - flatties, tailor and even a nice legal bream all on Zman plastics on 1/16oz jigheads. I was fishing near this pontoon and suddenly as I was about to wrap up the session, I spot a group of kingfish cruising the other way. That changed my course as I started casting ahead of them. I couldn't get the initial hookup after a few false strikes and now the group of kingfish was getting perilously close to the pontoon (and on course to swim straight under it)... Yep, you guessed it! That's when I hooked up! The fish was literally like a metre or two away from the pontoon and the ensuing run saw it run right under it! I don't know how, but somehow I turned it's head and brought it out to the open. It then proceeded to blast me away... Gone! Oh well, I guess the fish had to win sometimes, especially a few reports where I got extremely lucky to land a kingfish in similarly trying conditions. I hope you enjoyed the read!
  11. Awesome report and fish guys! You deserve that after 3 months no fishing?!
  12. Nice one Jonno! 👍 Good to see that you're still out and about and getting a quality jew for your efforts. Nice and fat specimen there (the fish that is!). Did you try any other lures? What's your opinion of those Chasebait RipSnorter vibes?
  13. Thanks Jeff! That, I know it wasn't haha. I should be out again once this poor weather subsides. I think a bit of the weather from your way made its way down south 😎
  14. Nicely written report. Looks like you got plenty of nice bream on all types of lures and at different parts of the day. I too can't wait for this horrible weather to subside.
  15. Nice one GordoRetired! More to come (including more smokings lol) 😎
  16. Nice one guys! Awesome photos, keep them coming. That's a big golden trevally!
  17. Awesome fun Salmon are! Cheers and definitely more to come!
  18. That's good to know that I'm not crazy for thinking they were kings. 😎 Most times I hook up to kings especially down east of the Sydney Harbour Bridge when I see these groups of cruising kings. I was really surprised in the video when the fish was headshaking and I couldn't connect the dots immediately which would indicate salmon.
  19. Nice bream Richard. Looks fat and healthy.
  20. That would be something! Catching fish in -4C. Nicely done.
  21. I thought so too at the time. Kinda still does too. I pretty much release all fish I catch. This salmon was released as seen from the video. Thanks. A lot of food for though there! 👍 That was a very interesting and useful post. Cheers mate! Gotta love salmon! They spice up inshore finesse lure fishing in the colder months. Me too, but I'm pretty bad at recognising fish lol. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks Richard! I think I've been getting used to getting smoked that it's a surprise when a few of them stick. 😎 More to come!
  22. A spanking? I think I'm barely giving it as good as I'm receiving 😂 It's been a rough month with smokings haha. Yeah the reel is getting pushed a lot. It's already making some sounds, probably coming from the line roller. Thanks mate! I always try to make it entertaining. Yep, especially surprising when they turning up right under my nose! Appreciate it. Yep, it got my heart pumping real good. I still feel the adrenaline when I rewatch it. Thanks for the comment. That's right. I was kinda expecting to get smoked real quick. It's not apparent from the video because I was using a chest mount but my head and eyes were going left and right frantically scanning the water for snags, obstructions etc. Glad you like it!
  23. I was fishing for bream the other day on the Parramatta River at pretty much midday. It was more of a quick hour where I could get out and get some fresh air. I had my bream outfit with me which consisted of a 2-4kg rod and a 2000 size reel running 6lb line and leader. I wasn't expecting much to be the honest. Maybe a couple of flatties and a bream or so. Out of nowhere, I spot a school of salmon in close (which I thought were kings at the time - bad eyesight). The excitement levels rose, it was a flick of a coin whether I would hookup and hook up I did! I seriously don't think anyone in my position could miss. They were that close to shore and that many of them. After a rather long tussle, the salmon revealed itself through some aerial jumps at the end of the fight. I do find that the bigger salmon stay deep during the fight which this one did. The lure that did the damage was a trusty Zman Grubz in watermelon red. Thanks for reading.
