  1. Is it worth considering putting a pod and an outboard on it?
  2. My little boat looks like yours and I couldn't justify the price for welding so I made mine out of wood. Works ok, but its not a high power electric and the tinny is only 3.2m. I think the most expensive bit was the quick release bracket!
  3. Thanks for the tips. Its now repostioned so its under the hull again. @zmk1962Thanks for the picture. I'll see how it goes when i get them connected up. Maybe this weekend depending ont he weather.
  4. Thanks Ron. Its underwater when I'm sitting and I assume when I'm running I've got it repositioned now so I guess when I get back out on the water, I'll be able to test it out. Maybe this weekend if I get a chance.
  5. Hi What are people using for their switch panels? Mine seem to work ok for a while and then they start getting sticky. It might change now that I have a roof, but I have the chance to do a bit of tweaking and I'd like to do it once. thanks
  6. So one of the advantages for me in Covid lockdown times meant that I was able to work from home for nearly three years. This has saved me around $60 a week in train fares along with the price for lunch and coffees. I've not really gone anywhere so that money has sat in the bank and given me time to think about the what I'd like to do to my boat to make it more comfortable. Some things I've added. I got myself a new drogue after the little cheap one broke off. It seems that not all the straps are UV protected. This one was expensive, but for me, I think the quality and that it is aussie made sorta makes it one of the better things I've bought. Its from WA from a bloke call big fat snapper and works really well. . I've been offshore a few times, and always got wet or had to worry about the sun, so I finally bit the bullet and got a custom made windscreen and roof from a guy in western Sydney. He powder coated everything and even put in a deck light. I'm loving that I don't get anywhere near as wet anymore. I'm still deciding whether to get clears but for now, I'm back to saving up. What do you always want when you are fishing? Its a nice hot pie right? I got a 12v oven and a LiFePo battery and so far its worked a treat. The cost of the oven and battery means that the pies are working out at more than $50 each ATM, but that is slowly coming down. I think @kiwicraig enjoyed his pie on the last trip out! It was hard to tell because he was complaining about it being too hot 🙂 When I had my windscreen done, I also got an under-floor fuel tank added and a live bait tank, and I've been happy with both. Its freed up my deck so I have a lot of room. \ Currently I'm installing zipwakes, as I get a lot of lean when travelling. I'm not sure if the aero-dynamics of the boat change with the windscreen or the balance with the tank made a difference. I can usually get it not too bad by moving my big eskys around but sometimes I only have a small esky and it doesn't make any difference. The zipwakes aren't hooked up yet. Only got them on last week. I found a local guy to do some welding for me and I'm happy with him. I'll have to do something about the bait tank pick up as it didn't work on the weekend. Not sure if I got some sealant blocking it or the wakes create turbulence, but I couldn't fill the tank even when I was sat still. It worked on a hose when I got home. Same issue for my transducer, but when I checked it, it was loose so I'm still deciding about that. I'll post an update after I retest it. These are the 450S models for those that like to know things like this. I also bought some cheap EVA foam flooring. I guess I'll have to see how it goes. It didn't appear to be all that sticky. Do you think I should go all the way to the sides? So that's about where I'm at now. I got some seats off @kiwicraigso I'll try and put them in next. I guess I'd have done better buying a boat that was more "finished" right at the start, but I didn't have the $$$. I'm really happy with my boat and I've not got seasick the last four times out. I did wonder if the motion changed, or the lack of fishing, or if the windscreen meant that I was getting two-stoke hanging around a bit more, but for now I'm not too worried about replacing the ETEC. If you made it this far, thanks for reading. I'll update when I get the zipwake installation completed. If you see me out on the water, give me a wave. One last thing, the first thing I did get was a Lonestar GX2. I love it!
  7. congrats! Im sure you'll love it. I'm in a similar boat, in that if I keep getting sesick, then it might be time for me to go 4 stroke. Then its deciding between the bands for a 115/140 although I did get quote 10 month wait list for one of the brands.
  8. Hi Frank. If you need a dogsbody to give you a hand, let me know. Happy to come down and help, and maybe get a lesson too!
  9. I have a spare poly tank. From memory its 75l PM if interested. Google NEW ERA PLASTIC FUEL TANK 75L WITH 38MM DECK FILL Thats what it looks like
  10. i took my etec to Huetts not too long ago. Craigs brother did the work for me. The gate looks closed when i go past on the train though
  11. It would have been good to catch up again Frank. As it turns out, i've come down with something so I'm off work. I guess this is the perils of attending events. I hope that things are well with you!
  12. i didn't see Frank at the Deckee stand. I wonder around for a bit. I had a go in a kayak in the pool and ended up with a sore knee a bit later. I'm guessing football has really killed them. Saw ET with his big boat and RAM. Had a great chat with a guy on the marina about zipwakes. He put them on his 4.8m tinny and really loves them. I got a new reel that I didn't need and an airport priced coffee and pie. Other than that, I didn't really see too much that I wanted. I didn't see a suzuki stand as I'm interested in replacing my 90ETEC with a 4stroke to see if it will help me with my seasickness. The Mercury's are still towards the top of the list, but maybe after zipwakes!
  13. I'm heading in now. I'll look out for you Frank!
  14. I've taken Thursday and Friday off work. Not sure which day I'll go in. On Fishing ET yesterday, he was an inflatable https://www.hobie.com/au/en/kayaks/mirage-itrek-11/ looks ok.
  15. i love my lone star gx2
  16. what did you end up doing?
  17. I'm guessing you already found the boat works today youtube channel?
  18. There is an interesting youtube from the surtees guy who says that BC copied him. Surtees look pretty good, I have a mate qwho as a workmate 540 and its a nice boat. I also like the look of the Mclays. I have an old Stessl Yellowfin 5.8 and i love it
  19. A boat that small, I think you'd be ok with the telstra rope. It's breaking strain is around 250kg. Its pretty cheap too.
  20. Its an interesting one. Certainly there are royalty free movies that you can watch when the copyright has expired. I would say that generally, someone will own the copyright to a movie, and from there, they may or may mot allow you to watch it, usually for a fee. For you and your "is streaming ok and downloading not" question, I would put them in the same boat. The copyright message usually mentions the word broadcast and it can be argued that streaming is broadcasting. I'm not a copyright lawyer 😉
  21. +1 to having a water seperator. I might have a manual for your ob if interested PM me
  22. I have both. The handheld is in my tackle bag. It would probably be better off in the grab bag though, although I have my expired epirb in there already
