  1. Good luck champ - a great morning for it ! Make sure you post up a report
  2. Congrats on your first jewie mate and cracking two PBs in the one session. Smile says it all
  3. The F80BET is a 2014 model to my knowledge, so 6 years old.
  4. Awesome stuff Z . You took the boat out, with family, saw some whales, got the blood pumping. cant ask for much more than that 👌
  5. Interesting. A recent model Yamaha experiencing mechanical issues. I was lead to beleive by some on this forum that such a thing didnt exist ! Not to fret Ningaloo. We have some very good gear heads on this forum who im sure will go the extra mile to help you sort out the issue. Goodluck !!
  6. As i suspected in my original response. Those hooks are snelled, not ganged. The boys have shown you the way ! Fishing for tailor and salmon i would drop the leader to 20lb too
  7. Sounds like tailor. Salmon dont really have sharp teeth and 40lb is more than enough for salmon. If your losing your first two hooks it sounds like your not using gang hooks. Are you using three hooks separately snelled through the bait. Change over to a true set of 3 gang hooks where the metal head of one hook feeds into the next hook and you should avoid bite offs.
  8. Hey mate. Its always exciting taking the kids fishing. The boys have provided some really good info. Just to add, sydney harbour night fishing can be very productive. The species i have caught at night include bream, tailor, jewfish, whiting and trevally. I suggest you throw out an assortment of rigs to maximise your chances. Id have a few rods on a running ball sinker and id also have a rod or two out on a float which will be good for tailor and trevally. Burley in th harbour can make all the difference bringing the fish to your location as well as getting them into the mood to bite. Buy yourself some catfood cans, punch a few holes in them. Put them in an onion bag and throw it out 2 or 3m ahead of where your fishing. When your done pull them in and dispose in the rubbish.
  9. There is a plenty of kingfish and jewfish as well as XL snapper to be caught at the Parramatta Ferry Wharf. As far west up the river as you possibly can go. You can also catch squid and yellowtail there for bait. Goodluck 😊😊
  10. Running rig for flathead in 40m is not the right rig in my opinion. Yes you might catch a few but if you really want to bag a few change over.to the paternoster. Flathead sit on the sand with eyes on the top of their head looking upwards. A bait sitting on th sand will be hard for them to find. An elevated bait on a paternoster rig will do you much better service
  11. Squid trolling at 7 knots. Thats quite the acheivement ! Awesome. great report and nice bag of fish
  12. Well i guess that makes up for your (half) donut the other day Yowie! Some great eating fish there and good size to that red.
  13. Welcome back Rod. Nice write up. Love that you and your boy still doing things together years on
  14. Cracking fish there. A real croc. Hope you enjoyed your trip up north
  15. As @zmk1962 has already suggested - the best way to fish offshore for flathead is paternoster rig with plastics on two droppers. traditional lures on a jighead are not ideal for bottom bashing in 60m. In my experience, the offshore flatties, when they are there, are ravenous. They do not really care what color/size the lure is (within reason). I would focus most of your energy on finding them. From there the catching part is relatively easy. And for what its worth - i would mix it up - try one dropper with a jig and another with a bait. Change over based on what the flatties are liking more on the day.
  16. Great idea and much needed. Of course there will be the entitled whingers who want to keep la perous to themselves. Why force people in Kurnell and surrounds to drive for hours when the whole trip can be shortened. Thats a significant increase in quality of life. Besides, think of how good the fishing would be off those two wharfs !!!
  17. Welcome to raider. Port Kembla and Bellambi provide great fishing by boat. When you get your boat feel free to reach out and i can share some marks with you. Land based there is some good fishing to be had at Hill 60 and Bass point. Windang is also another great spot
  18. Thats not like you Yowie!!! Getting rusty are you? 🤣🤣 Just kidding. Thats fishing sometimes ! It will make next time feel all more rewarding. Sam
  19. Funny land we live in sometimes. so many unecessary rules.
  20. @kingie chaser @Blade here is another post on fishraider - 0.6m reading on the transducer on low tide. So yep - as i suggested in very first post - potentially OK if you time your arrival and return to avoid low tide.
  21. I dropped the boat in on high tide and was oblivious to the true extent of how shallow the water is. On my return i bottomed out the motor on the sand about 5m from the ramp. We had to trim the motor all the way up and walk the boat to the pontoon then walk it again to the trailer. You understand why i remember it so clearly 😂😂
  22. Ive never tried water st. But if your fishing out of a 5.5m you could try Foreshore rd. You might have the ramp mixed up with anothrr ramp. Last time i dropped my 4.6m renegade in there i could stand knee deep at the end of the pontoon there. Even navionics shows water from 1m to 0.7m in depth. Definately no where near 3 or 4 m in depth there.
  23. What size is your boat. Bonna point is extremely shallow on a low tide. You would need to time your arrival and return to the ramp away from peak low tide. In any case. I wouldn't drop anything longer than 5m there.
