  1. That is very frustrating ! I have trialled a method which sometime works. Pull up about 100m from the FAD, pillies chopped up and bait ready. Throw pillies ahead of the boat as far as you can. Followed shortly by the bait. The boat will drift towards the baits, over the top and then they will end up behind. It does provide the bait with a good 1 o 2 minutes in the water sinking "naturally" in freespool which the mahi will usually strike
  2. Thats awesome stuff Zoran. Those flatties are really good size ! Mate judging by the track marks you absolutely gave them mahi a serious crack !!!!!! As crusher has said when they are timid i usually chop up 4 or so pillies into quarters and sneak a hook in one of them. You can even downsize the leader to 20lb if you want and i have caught a few mahi up to 90cm on 20lb line.
  3. Thats a nice Sydney King. Did he take the occy or the squid
  4. Can we find out who has been doing the rain dance for the last 3 weeks and ask them to cut it out.
  5. 60 years fishing......thats a good life.
  6. Cracking mixed bag, a little bit of everything ! Good size to them whiting
  7. Nice work mate. You got out and bagged a few fish with some mates. Cant ask for much more than that ! I have been advocating for quite some time now here on FR that bottom bashing with paternoster needs a longer distance between sinker and bottom hook. Glad to see someone trialing and giving it a go!
  8. Nice bag as always Yowie. Goo size on that flounder.
  9. Great write up. Those flatty look delicious. Nice prep work.
  10. Nice work. In my opinion theres no fun in skull dragging bream in with a size 7500 reel!!
  11. Seen alot of crocs over 90cm, but this is the first one ive seen over the magic meter mark ! https://www.facebook.com/142000969329939/posts/1469431563253533/
  12. Theres an easy fix !!!... when you feel those "urges"....... go fishing !!!
  13. No not at all......who dares to mention the words "2 stroke" or "4 stroke" without expecting a ""robust"" discussion 🤣🤣
  14. I dunno. You claim that you prefer bone in, but in the link you copied you claimed that you would send a dish back if it had bone in it. Your sending mixed messages 😉😉 Perhaps its a little chef rivalry !!!! I understand that 😁 some competitive juice never hurt anyone.
  15. Sexy, love it 😍😍
  16. Us middle eastern folk have a popular saying.. "its the eye that eats". What this means is that when food is presented nicely it will have the effect of increasing your appetite and you are more likely to enjoy your meal, even if the taste is more or less the same. Why stick to the rules when you can make your own. Theres two sides to the argument i guess, as someone who almost always eats fish with the bone in (cooked whole), id say its wan$y* to expect fish only to be served with the bone out !
  17. Great report Gordo. Glad to hear you got out. Red spot whiting dont grow very big at all and have no size limit. Once deep fried you can pretty much eat their flesh with the bone in. They taste quite nice.
  18. Never knew a fish could make so many different cuts !!!! Awesome stuff. https://www.facebook.com/Bloodydecks/videos/2603394896640885/
  19. Entitled & clueless 20 something year old drunk off his brains driving rich daddies big boat to impress his girlfriend. What can go wrong !!!
  20. Welcome to Fishraider - nice report mate. Some good size to them flatties
  21. As always a nice bag Yowie, that jewie will be nice on the plate. Check out the colors on them flatties !!!! They have been upstream for quite some time !
  22. Nice work M1100S, you scored a nice bag considering it was your first attempt at this spot. If you dont mind, i have a few tips for your next trip ! 1. Those slimeys and yakka are G-U-N bait. Next time dont put them in your bag, convert them into something more tasty. They are very good strip and flesh baits for flathead, reef species and your target species - snapper ! 2. With the paternoster rig, you will find that the distance between your lowest hook and the sinker can make the difference between catching at all, and if you do catch, what species you are catching. When im reef bashing for snapper i have at least one rod with 1m clear between the sinker/lead and the lowest hook. 3. Its not clear if you did have a snapper rig out, but if you didnt, its a must. Ball sinker straight to a double snelled octopus hooks in size 5 or 6. Put out a whole pilchard, or a strip of slimey. 4. Not mentioned in your report, but keep an eye on your drift speed. If you start drifting faster than 1.2km/hr or 1.5km/hr - throw out a sea anchor (buy one if you dont have one - they are about $50). Drift speed is absolutely critical for bottom bashing.
