If you havnt paddled in open ocean i would suggest throw it in at palm beach paddle round to edge of barranjoey and poke your nose out there you can catch good fish in that area if not comfortable with swell n chop head back inside broken bay -
I havnt used my boat since november 2020 itching to go to broughton for ovrniter gunna catch whiskers for jeff bahahahaha

Different spots vary i have marks at broughton that fish well in downhill current southerly direction whilst other spots 800 mtrs away only work in uphill most of my shallow spots need at least some current or your wasting your time n bait as for temp i catch reds every month of the year at broughton certain spots fish better in certain months but that comes down to over 40 yrs of working it out then you turn up with wind an current perfect right tide just on dark and cant lose a bait start thinkin again

Walk 3/4out the sthn headland flat ledges fish for tailer just on dark with pillys or lures use them for jew throw out on sand not much reef at your feet also good for luderick n bream if you walk over headland goin south good bream washes and good for squid the beach itself holds whiting n bream n tailer

Its not just the dorsal spikes you have to watch there are lots on their head and gills

Watch the guys catchin try and see where their stopper is so you get the depth right lucys fishes ok on runout tide get out close to end right side fish 8ft to sinker trace 2ft long 8lb trace size 8 hook

Horses for courses circle hooks have their uses and targets ive tried them on reds an jew and had poor results on tuna an marlin with live or skip baits they are the best in some styles of fishing i crush my barbs on trebles mainly freshwater but leave them proud when targeting tailer as they throw hooks often also some styles of hooks work with no barbs better than others depending on shank length . eye position . Point style the fun is trying them to work it out
