im hoping Im not giving off a rascist vibe..i mentioned who these people were cause they pulled the;no understand English card; when I chatted them over fish being way too small...they had bloody good English skills when I fotod there car then kicked their buckets over..they then went to another venue and re offended two hrs later...I have a young Asian background fisho in my club and have give him some rods and reels I don't use..ive also protected him from two drunk rednecks that got very racist and ugly one night on our local jetty and were physically and verbally abusing him..one went swimming to escape me the other wasn't so lucky...im not racist im factual..this kid after some tips and advice caught biggest mulloway for the year in my club and will be fishing with me in my boat this year.....its all about how people read whats written...sorry but I had to clarify..rick

if your fishing the bottom targeting jew..you have two choices..use large sinker on short piece of line attached to a brass ring or small swivel sliding on line to a swivel and trace fish with light drag so they can pik it up and run with it..don't let them run too long before striking as they don't have hands and there is only one place the bait can be...in their mouth...or..use the lightest possible sinker so as they cant feel it when they pik up the bait..good luck..rick

im with you Fabian..i try hard to stop idiots from doin these things..have done for years and will continue to do so..i have put myself in some hairy situations.but.im big enough and bad enough to do it..i wouldn't recommend taking the steps we have taken to most people as it could end ugly..ring the relevant authorities take regos.fotos.video them.and if they give you grief call the police cause then they are breaking the law..if anyone takes it to heart that we are nominating certain nationalities as habitual offenders I apologise..but facts are facts and fisheries statistics on wrong doers don't lie...gee theres my two cents.and im proud to have this attitude fish on ..rick

basic Homer Rhodes loop knot..any loop knot will work so long as you can adjust the size of loop before tightening...rick
-
generally caught over weedbeds or sand and weed..a jig directly on end of line with a slow jigging motion midwater or lower and you can use a float and suspend a jig under it at chosen depth to keep it off bottom..some places are better of a night on jetties or wharves with a light shining on the water,,this attracts bait attracts squid..rick

nice I used to have heaps of them..made some into necklaces...had a set bigger than 50cent pieces from a 40kg model...rick

you are staying next to great flatty beaches within 400mtrs of anchorage...jew and kings are sometimes caught off the rock wall..also mack tuna and longtails once they come in the bay...rick
-
they are normally a 20ft drag net..two man operation..you hold bottom rope on bottom with your foot and drag the net along for a hundred or more mtrs..sometimes less depending on spot..they also need to be licensed by fisheries..a one time payment licenses the net for life...rick

yeah neil..she keeps me on a shorter leash than I used to be on hahaha.....everyone that fishes away from home gets tagged tourist..just comes with the territory I spose.....we all have to take onboard some tolerance to others even though some of these muppets make it difficult...rick

wandered down to the local jetty next to bridge..flicked sps for flatties for an hour for nil ..switched to manic crabs and drifted them next to the pylons...bream 3 rick 0...got sick of losing traces and sps so hung my head in shame and scuffed my feet all the way to the car..oh well hit the water got some sun an fresh air and learnt some more humility from the local bream.....rick

the only difference in their sizing boils down to how much line you want to hold...look at there relevant capacities and choose the one that suits your line weight and capacity...rick

ps..Munmorah and canton beach..buff pt are all suited to drag nets catching the prawns off the bottom..the prawns in the entrance channel are running to sea at night on the outgoing tide and are travelling on the surface or near to it..rick
