  1. Yowie's recent post prompted me to go and chase some predators instead of whiting so I launched in the Georges early this morning (prior to an appointment to have a skin cancer cut off my neck!). Took a while to catch some bigger poddies but started fishing as the run out was approaching its second hour. Fished a couple of deeper trophy fish spots but no applause so I tried another option in 2m of water and the first flatty came on board within 30 minutes. Tried a few more normally productive spots with one bust off (blame my knot!) then headed to another spot downsteam where a good drop-off often produces fish. Landed another good fish on the first drift then picked up another almost identical fish with 20m of the last one. Had a good run from something with weight but the poddy was dropped after something had crushed and scaled it!) Picked up one more good flatty and headed off for the slice and dice! Filleted the fish after surgery and now have a good stash of skinless and boneless flatty fillets frozen ready for Christmas!
  2. Great brace of Jew! Congrats on a double and off the beach a bonus!
  3. You've gone up a few gears! Nice work Yowie, great to see the bigger predators jumping into your tinny! Must be happy with the day's catch:)
  4. You got a feed! I’m hopeless when I go out on my mates boat for lunch in Pittwater. Always have to wet a line😜
  5. Great work! I’m going to give it another go soon! new rod sounds the goods too!
  6. Nice work your effort will be rewarded with a metery soon!
  7. Congrats that’s a great king and well done on persisting with the live bait plan! gets us excited about fishing the hacking🐟
  8. Great bag Yowie, good to see the tings still around the flats in numbers and a couple of nice bigger models there too! I had a go off Wanda and North Cronulla yesterday with beach worms but the weed was plaguing the gutters at low tide. Nor whiting played for me and I only managed one decent Bream at Blackwoods when the tide started to move in.
  9. That’s a Great White-ing Bruce! Quality fish there…delicious too!
  10. The 3 Amigos! Great post guys and I’m sure you had lots of laughs and high fives on the day! love the pics and vid too!
  11. I'm going to hit the beach on the arvo when the tide is dead low and sus out some gutters, hoping the swell and weed don't spoil the day! Worms will be bait as I won't be able to pump nippers tomorrow...fingers crossed, it's time the Alvey saw daylight:)
  12. I'm going to test that theory out tomorrow by braving the southerly and trying some worms off the beach:)
  13. Good on you Derek for sharing your expertise! It's very valuable to teach someone the basics on the water and I'm tipping that spot will produce fish at different times with you putting some hours in Denis!
  14. Another corker of a session! Very nice fillets from those great whites! Enjoy!
  15. Nice outing Jim One of the benefits o a long day on the water is a good sleep...especially after snagging a few fillets:)
  16. Quite a few years ago I used to fish Gunnamatta Bay in November and the stonkers were on but once December hit they went quiet. After reading the northern beaches post maybe they spawn in the lower reaches and head out to the surf for a change of diet...beach worms and pippies. Interested on the views of members:)
  17. Hit the Hacking for an after work session yesterday and the Nor' easter was pretty fresh. Pumped some nippers then waited for the water to come up onto the flats. I was plagued by toads or something picking at the baits and then a few rays got in the way. Finally has a few whiting turn up but no real size about them....maybe all out on the beaches now?
  18. That’s a great bag and the 44 is a horse! it’s motivated me to have a beach flick soon:)
  19. Very nice bag, well done!!
  20. Nice flatchaps there, I like the thinking behind getting your son to fish with a lure cos he winds the bait straight in🤪
  21. Nice work Yowie! No whiting hunt today? You picked the best day of the week:)
  22. Larkin....on fire! Well done on a mixed bag with a beautiful flatty and released with the utmost care.....the fishing gods will repay you soon:) I'm keen to get amongst the bait sized squid in PH so I might have to pick your brain:)
