  1. Nice trev pity you missed the bream but a least you were fishing hope your daughter enjoyed it . In that area some of the hits could be squid also a lot of small squire. I would try a lighter jig 1/8th 2/0 I also think what you were using was pretty effective, keep casting
  2. Not sure if it still happens but when I was 14 (61 years ago) used to get mussels off the Cremorne wharf. Unweighted big trevally would take the first one always broke me off ( line cut my finger ounce )and spooked never returned. Also saw a land based spear have a go but you only got one shot.
  3. Ok I camped there years ago would like to take my boat there do you think a Subaru would handle it?
  4. Nice report and top fish is it a beach launch there?

  6. Great to see you out doing what you love I had no trouble getting yakkas near manly today.
  7. Thanks Bob it was skinned and no side effects to the couple that ate it. Will keep in mind for the future. In todays world seems like breathing is bad for you.
  8. Awesome have a mate who lives up there but gets seasick didnt know the fishing was that good will be up there soon
  9. Last time I got a strippy I called it a Mac and got caned think I would learn
  10. Launched in the dark Monday 21/2/22 from Roseville the plan was go straight to the FAD for Dollies then snapper and finally bonnies. Windy had me thinking 10kn winds easing to 3kn between 8am and 11. Well it was howling westerly with the wind following it was ok but I tried driving into it and plumes of spray shot over the boat. Decided to give the fad a miss trolled north head for a while no luck got into washaway was fairly protected and showing surface swirls threw 20gm white rooster popper around for a while and trolled for a taylor and something much bigger which eventually pulled the hook. Wind had calmed so decided to troll south head and soon had a decent fish in the boat but the next 3 or 4 were all small macs in quick succession so I called it day. Had a lovely massaman fish curry for dinner and some sashimi the following day. Glad I beat the rain.
  11. No run no fun its good to know its running. Was out a week r so ago sydney fad no drift no fish could although could see kingfish that looked like yakers .
  12. As Yowie said at least you got one. I got one so small it didnt take line off the bait runner I just checked it cause the action was funny would be lucky to be 40cm so back it went. Nice to meet you out there conditions for boating were perfect. Cheeers Bill AKA Blaxland.
  13. Aside from the advice above I would use the first yakka I caught as bait. Much better than chicken. I also would use a single longshaft small hook. As light as possible with weight. I find sabiki work best outside of the estuaries.
  14. Excellent! and thank you now I have to catch some fish Ill let you know how it goes
  15. Slightly of subject how does micro wave substitute for steaming pm if you like Im interested.
  16. The sail was shredded I left the wishbone and mast on the pontoon at roseville
  17. Nice DerekD I have found sugar pens to be deadly but the hooks are not so great and when I upgraded the hooks they seemed less affective. could be just bad luck will keep trying. (target surface kings)
  18. Hi Raiders launched at 5:50 headed straight to the Sydney fad nothing sounding exploratory cast no result. Headed out to the wave buoy sounded a few no other boats conditions as good as it gets. Chucked out a stick bait which was nabbed next to the boat. Second cast solid King but just under size. From then on hook up every cast and tried a few different lures. One keeper caught on the sinking stick bait as it fluttered down. Also caught my first sail fish.
  19. Hopefully I will need a few dimes worth
  20. Illl have to try that with the tentacle
  21. Thanks mate I was hoping not to tie but guess Ill give it a go
  22. Hello Raiders, I once read that a yellow cocky feather with a octopus tentacle on the same hook was a gun kingfish bait. I have a couple of Sulphur Crests visit me regularly for a feed but thats another story. I have collected a few feathers and Im thinking of sticking a couple to a plastics jig and having a go. Has anybody tried it and how should I stick them cheers Blaxland.
