Short report bottom bashing off Sydney Wednesday 15 dec. light north wind water 22.5 degrees in about 35 meters water to go drift just east of the reefs starting at dee why keepers 1 good flathead and an Indian goat fish both of which we just ate for lunch might of got more but spent some time with a tangled paternoster and had to tie a new one. That camping store had anew brand of 1lb squid which did the trick

Well I agree Mackerel eat well but yes cooking skill helps.

At least your fishing I was out Friday chasing kings didnt get one but one of the fish I pulled out spat out a small blue I guess pilchard about 30mm. I saved the rest of the green eye for a feed after that.

You 100% correct I was anchored 5k from my place water police checked me for safety kit etc and also advised I could go to any foreshore in my LGA. However its different if your in an area of concern.

Good report thanks, as to the poor mans lobster can you give me some tips on handling filleting etc they scare me to bits and I've caught some big ones.

Ive seen the charters at Middle head and have had success from there to Gorges head. For me squidding is always a bit hit and miss. On a side note I hear john dory are in town around structure. They will take your livies.

Great haul never heard of float fishing squid before is it a paternoster set up?

Nice catch of whiting very good eating. My two biggest flathead have been caught using live bait. Also its a myth that flathead change sex as they grow older. Fact is females grow larger than males.
