  1. Way to go Rob and Mrs Rob, they are two nice whiting.
  2. Great work Jeff, keep it - more out there.😊
  3. Yep that’s the spot, but dodgy at low tide - 6 hours behind Brooklyn.
  4. You can’t use sea urchin as bait, only burley - there is no way you could keep it on a hook and once crushed it filters (dissipates) in the water as fine particles. If you could workout how to keep it on the hook you would have groper fishing wired.
  5. Couldn’t agree more Noel, once hooked, you’re not sure if it’s a fish or the Manly ferry (or a submarine). I haven’t fished for them for years, but don’t go any lighter than 50lb mono on an Ugly stick out of the boat, never fished for them off the rocks.
  6. Hey Daniel, there are quite a few experienced trout raiders as @Rebel said. Keep us informed of your progress, with a few pics. @Centrepinwill put you on the right track - (good on you Geoff)
  7. Hey @that guy.I’m more than happy to take you out and “do fishing” with you, but it’s a loooong drive to Tennyson NSW from Qld. If your in Sydney , get in touch.
  8. Hey @fredflathead, I usually use a paternoster rig (8lb) with 2 long shank no 6 hooks and gently lift it up and down (tea bagging) till I feel weight, then wind in. I find if you don’t use long shank hooks I get bitten off (sharp teeth these critters, don’t let kids get their finger near the mouth- but you probably know that)
  9. Way to go Kobi - keep catching (&killing) those carp.
  10. A great fighting fish. As @noelmsays (black & red) crabs are the no1 bait. Can be collected off the rocks. If you can dive & collect purple urchins & crush them as burley they will go absolutely nuts. If you dive and crush them open underwater, you’ll have them eating from your hand BE CAREFUL WITH URCHINS THEIR SPINES BREAK OFF EASILY and seriously hurt.
  11. A great day on the water with mates - a great first report @Riley17- look forward to more in the future 🍌 😊
  12. I’m hoping to get back on to the kings after next week. A few days of the 24 degree water, the bigger ones should be a bit more consistent - only the odd one coming in at the moment.
  13. Good idea Dave, I’d love to tag Bass as well as Kingies for DPI.
  14. Just down the road, so easy to get to.
  15. Great report Chris, do you know if there has been an update on the Sydney FADS off the heads?
  16. Great work Rob - outstanding report.
  17. Went with Clint & his son Riley (soon to be a Raider), for a quick early morning session before the sun got too hot and met some new ‘Raiders at the ramp- helped them choose some diver lures (lovely new “Bass boat”, with a shiny new Honda) in colours that might work to entice the fish. I know they’ll be reading this so post a message fellas and let us know how you went. We used the ever faithful Feralcatt lures and a prowler (purple). I went down stream a fair way and prospecting new territory and had a pretty good day - total was 43 and two over 40cm. Riley top scored with a 41cm bass, outdoing his dad (go Riley).
  18. 642 Bass this season so far (landed) only one 50cm a few in the 40’s lots in the 30’s and some that were not much bigger than the lure, but I’m just up the road from the river and it is my country (Gundungurra boarders Derrubbin (Dyarubbin).
  19. Very nice w work Neil, haven’t scrolled through the freshwater section for a while, that’s a cracker cod mate - well done.
  20. In my experience - Yes it’s uncommon for bass still to be schooled up and aggregated this time of year, but it’s been a very long season, warm water, cool days (relatively), small cicada hatch after the floods, prawns still running way up in the fresh - unusual conditions indeed.
  21. Way to go @kilp some nice Lud’s there, a few great feeds.👏👏
  22. Took my nephew and his son out for a session on the Hawkesbury yesterday. He’d only caught a few (small) Bass and EP’s at Balina in the past, so I was keen to get them onto a 40cm fish and God was good, we scored 3 over 40 (33in total) - they were stoked and his son (Toby), hadn’t been fishing much at all and never successfully on Bass. He also dropped a 50cm flattie (over enthusiastic rod work) at the side of the boat. I tried some new water further down river towards Webb’s creek and there were plenty down there too and close to the new Wisemans ferry ramp. Caught up with Mr & Mrs Swordy who also had a cracker day.
  23. Great to catch-up on the water today Donna, it is special country and deeply significant for Derrubbin mob. You make a very glamorous Fisherlady.
