Hi Neil I am feeling for you. We spent a lot of time at the "Reserves" along the Bidgee back when the reserves provided the only public access to the river and were the main source of getting together. If National Sparks And Wildfires have taken over the Public's Reserves then the Public have been duped and robbed (again). They appear to consider any area under their control and their own sacred areas and lock the public out. Time for an ownership change!! As for MI - don't get us started. It never happened back in the mid 90's now they are so frightened in their ignorance they have a hair trigger. There is no valid excuse for such a significant drop in river height in such a short period of time. Hope the situation improves for you. Maybe a trip up the coast is in order!!

I agree with raising your transom. Have recently done this to my V17 and repowered with a 140 4 stroke. No more lower section of engine sitting in the water at sea. We filled in the lower hole in the motor well keeping a higher hole to run everything through for the motor including new hydraulic steering. Much safer and now no chance of water getting in the boat. I have seen a boat that sank at sea because of the large holes in the motor well which were not adequately protected with rubber boots - same as you mentioned - the water kept slopping over the 20" transom and went unnoticed untill too late. North Haven wall is popular near the cleaning tables however may only be for the winter bream run. Get some nippers and explore.

Diamond Head comes to mind just to the south - but not for Kings. You could ask Ben at Camden Haven Marine or the tackle shop beside the addictive pie shop for ideas. Kingies are out in 120m south east of the bar. Good for a workout!!

Out the point is one of the best LBG platforms on the MN coast. Bit of a walk and may need a longer gaff. Not sure what is around currently but known for Cobia, Spanish, Tuna - google it. Should be some tailor. There is another platform to the south through National Parks - you can drive to the car park then walk. South end is safer. Jewfish, Tailor etc. I don't go to Hat Head to fish the beaches so no idea. Good luck and stay safe.

Hi DD, I have not been fishing but those who have are saying the flathead are in numbers in the estuaries. Talk to Luke at Great Lakes Tackle. The water is quite warm - about 23 degrees in the Maninng so the Lakes should be similar. I suspect the estuay will fish better than outside at the moment. However the hot water is out wide already (El Nino). Good luck.

I have not been fishing or heard any reports. The southern end of Diamond has good rock ledges for Tailor - please be careful. Further south along the rutile road through the National Park you can access Abbeys Creek which has good beach gutters. Also known to have pippies and worms. Agree with Harrington lagoon for nippers. Talk to the boys at Harrington Tackle shop. North to Dunbogan there are nippers on the river on the sand banks - probably from North Haven is best access. Some good Luderick in the Lagoon and wall at times. Good luck and have fun.

The biggest impact was the lack of water in the systems. The mid north coast had low flows or none in the smaller systems which had the greatest impact. And river flows are already low and the country dry (2019?? - hope Not)

The inflatables are favourites when boating. I have the unfortunate experience of having to rely on one. I was still under water in foaming turbulence thinking I need to breathe - which way is up?? Fortunately I had purchased the auto inflate models so when I was needing to breathe the jacket "went off" and we both popped up at the same time. I did not think about where the rip cord was or even start thinking about how to do it. If boating I recommend spending the tiny bit extra for the auto inflate models. And I have heard the arguments about if the boat tips over on the bar and you get trapped inthe boat etc etc. By the time the jacket goes off the boat has moved on leaving you in no mans land. One more thing - its not "luck" that you were wearing a life jacket.

Well - I wonder where the highest educated Bream are?? I think those at Tuncurry Co-Op wharf are highly educated most I would consider at PhD level. Back creek at SWRocks I agree are also uncatchable. The Bream at Nambucca Heads are fed every day by locals & tourists alike and I found them also equally educated. I pulled a nice one off the breakwall at Nelson Bay marina years ago so no points there.

Well done Rosie and Pickles. That result is no mean feat and I suspect the results were simply on the fall of the bird. Intersting re black labs. We had a yellow lab "Bird Dog" on the farm. .

Thanks for the report. I'm glad you did ok. My boat went without me and had a slow day - except for the freaded Jackets who has a field day. Its been a bit slow outside lately. I did notice some whales still going north!!?? whilst the majority are going south. Seems early to be going south and late going north. We did have a few jokes about what they must be saying to each other..."Where are you going?? Party's over mate time to head back" Glad you got a feed. I just bought another Arrowz 70MH 10-25lb - the choice is easy for me and yes it does a great job off the rocks having caught longtail tuna and jew as well as a fantastic SP snapper offshore rod. Unfortunately the price has gone up - paid $162.

Greetings DD, I moved from western NSW (west of BigNeil) to the coast years ago. Best thing I did was join a fishing club. Every time I go out on the water I have a bunch of mates out there too. And they help you with skills and advice etc (we've all towed each other home at some time). Good luck. Whats that "P" thing?? Poor preparation something??
