  1. Hi Mellos, I'm not aware of any Raiders around Yamba to assist. When I moved to the coast I joined a fishing club. Looking forward to your first report - I've always wanted to fish Yamba. Good Luck.
  2. Yep, spent many hours in machines in the MIA listening to that on the radio - 2RE and Wagga radio at night. May be one of the reasons I have become so cynical of all politicians. I am not biased - it applies to all 3 levels of government. I did enjoy the inuendo. The Comedy Company was also prone to taking the piss out of them. Tight lines BN. More rain up here.
  3. Well done. Its a fantastic place to visit. A lot of history on Broughton with the shacks etc V National Sparks & Wildfires. There was a cow on the island for many years which washed up on the island after the big flood in the 50's. If you're leaving the cove in a southerly stay away from the southern side as the waves stand up in close - I saw a bigger glass boat lose its rods out of the rocket launches when a couple stood up on their way out. More importantly - did you catch any fish??!!
  4. I do like the idea of a new Rod though - can't be too careful. X+1
  5. I agree with DerekD, I have had the same frustrating issues and it came down to 2 things. There is a small crack or damage in a rod guide breaking the line or the line is wrapping around your tip. If it wraps around your tip sometimes you will damage the rod. Otherwise check other appendages on your rod as I lost a few trout lures to line catching on the hook keeper and breaking. Had this discussion up at Coffs last week in a big tackle shop - the advice was to run pantyhose through your rod guides and look for anywhere the pantyhose catch showing evidence of runner damage. Good luck. Also your floating lures should resurface and available for retreival
  6. Ask a rod builder - I suspect it may be capable of being bound to fix it. Your local tackle shops may help located one.
  7. There are a few Raiders in the Hastings
  8. Sixmaps.nsw.gov.au is webbased. Be aware the photograph overlay is quite old (I call it OldMaps) however has very good detail. Drove over the Hastings the other day it's looking good
  9. Forgive my ignorance, what/where is the big Anna?? I would love another Arrowz - wolf in sheeps clothing
  10. I would check that the Watersnake can use the lithium battery first. I purchased a new Watersnake through a large chain last year at a very cheap price as it cannot operate on a lithium battery.
  11. Yes Pickles, A Big Bible with lots of drag. And James is not the only one needing help
  12. Thanks Fil, We fished Weipa in early October last year. Caught some nice Queenies but not on fly. I will take all the white flies next year. Thanks, Hoods
  13. Thanks for the report BN. A change in location results in a few fish. Well done. Looking forward to your visit up this way.
  14. Well done Scratchie & Crew. Those numbers prove persistence pays. Find the Fish - Catch the Fish. How is the car park fishing? And just to add keep some wire on hand as i have seen a photo of a very nice Wahoo boated up our way. Thanks for the report Hoods
  15. Hi Neal, Thanks for the report. Good to see you are out "on the water", however from your photos it still looks barely fishable. Would the creek be a better option with reduced flow!! Regards, Hoods
  16. Great weather, kids catching fish, Great photos. Whats not to like. Thanks for the report & sharing. The Manning is also clear & fishing well for flatties, school jew etc.
  17. Thanks for the report & video. Best wishes to your daughter. The Captains word is Final.
  18. That is the best way to eat trout. Thanks for the report.
  19. Thanks for the report. If you go into That tackle shop without a plan it will cost you a whole day!! At least you had the best of the weather.
  20. Love your work. It seems a Raider Rod for a Fish Raider - how appropriate. Congratulations.
  21. Hi Ben, Thanks for the report and congrats on the Queenie on Fly. Can you tell me what colour(s) you tied your Clouser please? and does it matter what colour Thanks Hoods

    Uni advice

Congratulations on your hard work so far. In life it is great to have choices. Some people don't get that chance. The more education you have the greater your choices in my opinion. I went to an Ag College and had "no choice" being 3rd gen. If I had to choose i would look firstly at resources at the facility including industry standing/ability to be employed at graduation and nearly as importantly the culture. It is your peers who will help you through the course and more importantly build those relationships that become sooo important later. Good Luck Hoods PS My Grandfather gave me some advice - The harder you work the luckier you seem to get and.. Good Players make their own luck Don't waste it
  23. Thanks for the report. I recall catching redfin in Barren Box swamp back when I were a lad in the 70's. Water was so clear you could sight cast back then. My question is - how would you prepare Redfin for the table? Thanks, Hoods
  24. I would try along the waterfront in Tea Gardens around the boats and jetties (close to the coffess shops!!). Otherwise anywhere along the water front for mullet around the bridge and along the river in Hawks Nest is accessable. There is a fishing shop in Hawks Nest that are helpful. Good luck.
