  1. Congrats, you always rember your first fish 🙂
  2. Had a funny find in bag of bait prawns, a small like 7cm flatty. Kinda surprised lol, never seen that before.
  3. Apparently it's ok for salmon, sometimes king's there but rarely and bream. That's all I've heard, never tried personally
  4. When I'm on the kayak I have a couple of pre made rigs with a swivel and then a snap swivel on the main line. Allows me to change our easily, as re tieing on a kayak isn't the easiest. Land based I have a mixture. If I'm targeting 1 species only, I don't use a snap swivel but if I think I might be wanting to change rigs a bit I'll just pop one on. I don't recall ever having a snap swivel breaking, even on sharks.
  5. I have a 54 lbs water snake shadow thats been rigged for the kayak but I have all the parts and it can be put back together if your interested, as I have no need for 2 motors
  6. as an idea, what about one of those pedal 'paddle boards' allows you to get on the water and cycle at the same time. I still rember doing the excat same thing though with my bike, the joys of when you dont own a car and your only transport was a bike
  7. I was going to go land based. The river is full of trees and sunken crap still, so yeah. My mate wasn't to excited about the idea is potentially hitting things in the dark so yeah.
  8. In going tomorrow, will let you know. Main target is Pike eel though
  9. Haven't been beach fishing in a while and never have beach fished in sydney, so was wondering wheres some good spots for salmon, tailor, bream ect. And how do you go about targeting these? I am thinking about palm beach thanks
  10. Here's an idea, get a Penn slammer and a spinfisher extra heavy and a bit of heavy braid. There, you have an anchor winch 🤣
  11. Light is definitely better for just general bait fishing in estuarys. Personally I use 8lbe for bream and flattys but in my big bream stop I'll up it to 15-20 as it's right amongst the rocks and need that abrasion resistance, but definitely decreases the amount of bites but gives me the chance to land the fish. 10 lbs is a little heavy for bream, but will work. Just depends on where you are. Flathead, I prefer 10 minimum but prefer more like 15 lbs. Off the beach I'll go more like 20 though.
  12. I have found the spider co sharperner great. for my shark hooks, I go diamond, then the gray one then the white to put the final edge on it. For normal hooks, I just use the gray one and then the white one to finish off. Keeps my hooks razor sharp
  13. Yeah. Will probably get them to leave out the re grease ect
  14. Yeah. Parts 74 to 77 are all there, maybe is it worth replacing the whole secondary drag assembly?
  15. Yeah, tighten the drag then rise under the tap, with a slowish dribble or just pop the whole setup under the shower. I always wash my gear after being in saltwater.
  16. Thanks, there's a shop that supply's the parts in Australia, their prices are reasonable and I've contacted the seller, he's agreed to cover the fee for parts. Thanks again
  17. If you head out from church point and head right, you will find the weed beds along there. Use a light natural coloured squid jig, I prefer a brown jig, and slowly retrieve it back through the beds. You can also try slow trolling but I haven't had much success. But yeah of theres been boats running up and down through there, don't really bother with the squid, unlikely they will be interested.
  18. The weed beds all through there hold squid but when it's a busy day it's hard going.
  19. Thanks so much for the help truly appreciate it. What parts do you think I'll need to replace to get it working?
  20. Facebook. A couple of nights ago there was a Alvey estuary rod for sale
  21. I'm really confused how this even works as a drag. Like I can seem to find anything that cause friction on the shaft or anything so yeah I'm really struggling to work it out
  22. I've been putting it back together as can be seen but I've pulled it apart again to re inspect the baitrunner system. In taking it down to a professional sometime to have a peak because I'm stumped
  23. Already done. I've pulled 100% of the reel apart and ever little peice has been degreased, regressed, inspected and then replaced according to the manual. I tried to get a vid of the shaft turning even with the bait runner on but to big to upload. Downside of such a good camera I guess lol.
