  1. TT's are good but i am loving the new daiwa baitjunkie jigheads
  2. Heaps of options there. You can walk the sand flat at Clontarf and then walk further along the drop off. Then there is also the spit reserve to walk and cast from. Like @R E G I C Y C L EI only use lures and have had a fair few good sessions there. You can catch anything there but it’s more fun on light gear
  3. If your using the glue, the best one I have found is the loctite gel. As others have said some glues react with the plastics and you will get the top part you glued on and then the rest of the plastic will rip off
  4. I am a bit late to the party here @Madkanu well done, great to see your progressing!!! Looking forward to catching up and maybe Ill get you out on the water on the yaks!
  5. Well done @Madkanu Great to see you working out the local spots! Love a feed of squid!!
  6. Hey Norm, It all depends what you’re wanting to achieve or target. I’m planning on hitting up some bream fishing kayak comps this year, so I would look at 3-4 rods with different applications in mind. The lures are already tied on to each rod, and I’ll use what I think is appropriate in that circumstance ( still learning lots too). I guess it’s all about economy of time and effectiveness, as opposed to spending 5 minutes changing changing over lure types. ps good to see another Hawkesbury person here, I grew up in Glossodia
  7. Good too see you back out there @AlbertW. I will have to check that shorejigging outfit you bought for sure!!
  8. Well I did catch a couple of small tiddlers
  9. Yep my fingers knew about it afterwards
  10. When I was young we just stuck our fingers down the yabbie holes and pulled them out when they clamped on your hand, a highly successful but painful method.
  11. not yet mate, currenlty layed up with an injured knee and surgery booked for early March
  12. The spots look so incredible and the fish look massive well done
  13. nice session @Niall Good to see you back on the land 😉
  14. Generally the bigger the lure the bigger the jig heads. To echo what a lot of other people have said, 3-4 inch plastics I find myself using 2/0,3/0,4/0 plastics weight wise it depends what you are wanting to do with the plastic. I find myself generally reaching for a size 2 jig head fine gauge for most bream fishing, and again like many others haves aid light as possible. The battle you'll find is how light you go versus the current and versus your patience ( counting down to 20 after you work the lure can sometimes seem an eternity). There's also lots of variables and trade offs that come into play; like if you're landbased do you sacrifice some of the hang time in the water for cast distance with a heavier jig head and vice versa. @DerekD has given you a good starting point and once you become familiar with casting that 1/4 around think about what you're chasing and change it up.
  15. Great report and welcome @Madkanu @DerekD is a great teacher and I was in your position around this time last year, or probably a little behind you. Derek has got me casting so far. When you are ready, and my leg is better( I am a little incapacitated atm) we should hit the yaks for a session
  16. Keep practicing, the gulps are great but fragile. If you wanted to try another creature bait from a more durable brand, I can definitely recommend the Daiwa baitjunkie ( cut the first half inch off or so) or the zman prawnz.
  17. yep. You gotta keep at it, when they are on youll usually find youll catch a few.
  18. Well done, is it common to have the bass that far down the river at this time of year?
  19. well done @Bateau Stu. Great first session!. Make sure you hit that waterfront at graham park when its not so windy! Thats one of my fave spots. How good is shelleys!!
  20. Nice sessions and report, I saw a recent video of guys catching heaps of flatties near Karuah boat ramp.
  21. Well done , that’s a lot of pedalling in the yak
  22. Hi Stu, Welcome aboard I’ll have to tee up a session when I’m back up the coast
