  1. Hey SinH Want to go for a rock fish with me this Saturday. Im heading up to Avoca to try and catch my first King. Be good to have some company. Paul
  2. Hey guys, Had a fish tonight under the Anzac bridge at sunset till 10ish. It was a rising tide and fished with a 3" gulp minnow in watermelon. Got lots of bites from choppers but consistent hits. The 2 decent fish caught just picked up the limp line and ran. One was a 30cm tailor and the other a bream. Im attaching a pic of him. All fish released. Paul
  3. I've just learned the improved alrbright knot which Tony from Australian Bass angler showed me, Works a treat. it isn't shown here but try this link http://www.sportsfish.net.au/pages/fishing...ated-knots.html or the stren knot http://www.stren.com/knot11.htm
  4. Nice story there Mick, Fishing with you dad, those are memories you never forget, great read mate, Paul
  5. Great report guys, What a great catch, you make it look easy! Paul
  6. G'day all, Spent the day fishing of the rocks at Norah head, the most excitement was from sunrise till 8ish. I'd got there while it was dark and found a high ledge to fish from. The swell was 2.5m it was huge. The ledge looked high and dry but first cast a wave crashes over me and knocks me on my arse, breaking my reel, baitbox and ego. Well fixed the reel, back to fishing with salted slimy mackrel. Im catching fat sweep and thats all. I had left over frozen squid so I hooked it onto a ganged hook / float and set it out. A nibble, bob, bob then I strike and the friggin rod doubles overand pop, leader snapped. this happened again but third time lucky I pulled in a kingy. Now it's a high ledge at Norah head and in the rush and excitement I lost the fish pulling him up. So it was a great experience and Im looking forward to next time. Have a good week, Paul
  7. Hey Rick, With a little study and luck we could both catch a kingy this year!! Im landbased as well and seems like everyone can catch the mighty kingfish. Oh well, I remember a couple of years ago my dream was to catch a bream and I managed that. Welcome to the site Rick. Paul
  8. Beautiful fish there boys, Congratulations on a new species catch. Paul
  9. Hi Shane, I caught both on a 3" power minnow in bloodworm colour, fished on a 1/16th jighead. THe bream hit the plastic straight away, as they often do when you cast at the right spot. Same lure for the flattie. Ronald, no worries, it was a pretty quiet session anyway but I did get something out of it....a flattie spike in my finger
  10. Hey all, Hows this rain? it's bucketting down over this way. Started an after work fish at 6:30pm. Fished five dock bay around the boat ramp. Had a massive tail wind flinging my casts over the water, caught a 25cm bream and a 30cm flattie. Then the heavens opened and I got soaked. Was a fun session. Paul
  11. G'day lurespinner, It was Australian, bought from Freddys at Auburn. I've bought a Caldia Kix from japan and was thinking about warranty issues. Casting my mind back Swoffa said he never had problems with warranty service from gear bought overseas but this was regarding Daiwa. The boys at SHimano didn't ask for my reciept, looked after everything on the phone. Really fast turn around as well. 10 out of 10. Paul
  12. Congrats RR, It's hard work catching a king. Can I ask if you fished your livies under a float or weighted to a sinker? You must be happy, Im yet to catch a kingie. I fished Winney Bay last Saturday using squid strips under a float, nothing. My friend tim caught a trevally using pilchard pieces on a float but that was it for the day. Good work
  13. Hi Dave, Thanks for posting that report, it was a great read and I enjoyed it. Sounds like a very good day. Paul
  14. G'day Raiders, Heres a happy story for you, My dad bought a shimano ultergra 4000 which has been going great gun until the clicker on the drag snapped off. After sitting around thinking about it I finally thought I'd call shimano and send it off for repair. Peter from their office looked after it over the phone, was so good about it and sent me out a new spool, no dramas. So helpful and friendly, so if anyone is going to buy shimano reel, I can vouch for their service. Im glad because I switched to shimano speciffically because of their reputation for good warranty service. Glad to see it's true. As opposed to Daiwa but thats a different story Merry Christmas all
  15. Hey Koons, Howzit. I fished IC today, from 7am - 10am on a rising tide, high was round 10am. I've found IC fishes best on a high tide and have caught decent fish at this time. Today I got 3 flatties and a chopper tailor. First of all don't fish Rodd point, I find spots to the west of it produce better fish. Im attaching a pic from 8footugly's post with better spots. I've fished them and have caught bream and flathead from them. Bream I find are hard to catch but flathead are easier. A violent jerk and keep the sp twitching as you wind in the slack. Remember to keep it bouncing off the bottom. Good luck
  16. Good report Sammy, Thanks for the good bream news, well done. I love fishing with my dad, no one knows u better eh? Have a top weekend
  17. Yeah I'll be there. Im still at work. ARGGGGHHHHHHH
  18. G'day Kevie, Pasted this from Jases' post. Heres the link http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/inde...?showtopic=8972 theres a good spot behind rozelle hospital.drive down wharf rd off darling st till u get to the water.at the point you will see a submarine cable sign.fish to the left of the sign casting into the middle of the little bay there .usually a good summer spot for bream ,flattys, whiting, tailor and the occasional school jew. best fished with a morning high tide .at the top of the tide try between that spot and to your right you will see some rocks leading out to the water good spot for flatties. good luck might see u down there one morning. Hope that helps
  19. Hey all, Sorry to cancel on everyone, got a family dinner that popped up, really sorry. Next time I won't pike out, guarranteed. And Sinh, love to meet up for afterworkfish. If ure after a sp rod give the Berkley dropshots a go in 2 -4 kg. They're round the $90 range and have had a good rap. Im using a Strudwick sic stick which was $99 and Im happy with it. People say they break easily but u have to catch a fish for that to happen
  20. AWESOME! Might have to organsise the last of my SP's and Jig heads. See you guys there, Paul
  21. G'day Riceball, I finish work at 6pm on Thur (tomorrow.) Why don't we give the rozelle hospital side a try. How bout we meet at the wharf at Le Montage (the swanky restaurant near city west link bridge) at 6:45pm. Im Lure fishing but bait works well round that way. Had sucess with bread and chicken fillet. Paul
  22. G'day all, Had a quick fish this arvo along the city west link side of Iron cove opp. Robson Park. Caught 2 small flatties and 1 bream, all released. Hooked onto a decent bream but he shook his way to freedom when I was lifting him for his photo shoot. Great time but bites shut down when the thunder rolled in. I think the little guy followed the lure into shore, I thought he was there so I slowed down at the last minuite and twiched and he was on. Paul. All caught on 3"power minnows in watermelon with 1/8th oz jigheads.
