I have been up in Weipa for the last week with my family and family friends. The first few days we fished the reefs down the coast and we caught plenty of reef fish and trevally.

After fishing the reefs we came back and fished the rivers the fishing was a bit quiet but we stilled managed 13 crabs queen fish, bream and cod. We also had lots and f fun catching sharks, catfish and trevally of the house boat.

It was a great experience to go to Weipa and fish we caught lots of new species and had lots of fun.

thanks for reading Kobi.

Great report Kobi. That’s a beauty coral trout! And a good sized cobia- where did you catch that?

Is the pic of Bruce with the queenie the one he caught off Boyd Point when we saw you?
Jealous of those mud crabs, I must ask your grandad for some tips on catching them.

cheers

Great report Kobi and well done on some new species. Very lucky to see a dugong.

A Weipa trip on the houseboat is an incredible experience, hopefully one day your younger cousins can join you.

Any idea what the smaller dark fish with the large tail is?? (Last photo in the original post)

I guess it is a Sand Bass??
