JonD Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Had a couple of weeks escape from the crud weather. Headed 80km out from King Ash Bay for a bit of island living and getting the arms stretched. Already looking forward to getting back up there, Im over this weather down here. The temp on the fully calibrated thermometer was from a walk across one of the islands, temps were more like 34-35'c around the coastal edges. Barra were a bit quite, none over 85cm. 24

Yowie Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Some good looking fish there, even the shovelnose is BIG. Also cannot escape the toothy critters. 1
Blackfish Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 That Turtle photo is awesome with a background of the night sky. Also that looks like a thumper of a Brassy. 1
Billmack Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 (edited) Good trip Jon, the young fella did a lot of work it appears. We were drawn again to KAB this year, fishing was as varied as the water and air temps, but we caught our fair share. Once this place is in your blood.... Meant to say also, the goldspotted cod are becoming the carp of the north in the estuary system up there. It’s a bit of a worry, but hopefully nature will work it out. No didn't fish the river, it was surprisingly busy. I prefer the reef fishing but have a few small river systems I want to try up there next time when I take my own boat. Those extreme boats tend to sit a little deep with the flooding keel section and deep V.
