dirvin21 Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 We've been trying to fish a lot lately aiming to get fish for the table without much success. Waking up from night shift we had an opportunity to head put for a quick late arvo session I told Amy we were doing a "sunset cruise". We decided to take a gamble and launch at Wauchope in the brackish. The fish have been few and far between I was shocked to land a bream on my second cast. It didn't take Amy long to break the doughnut either with a decent bream Fish for the esky, the fishing wasn't red hot but we were atleast getting hit and catching small bream, then I load up on a solid fish it played strange running into the deep was very excited to see a solid bass A beautiful 41cm fish which also adds bass to our einter species challenge, fish was quickly released Amy answered with a nice bream And a few flathead a couple of which found their way to the filleting table. We finished off the arvo with me making Amy a cocktail (minimal alcohol we're responsible boaters) And enjoying a beautiful arvo on the water Cheers for reading Dave 21 1
Little_Flatty Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Great job Dave and Amy! Last time I had a sunset cruise was in your neck of the woods! It was awesome, but I think I prefer your version 😎 1
zmk1962 Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 That’s the way to do it. Love everything about this report. Enjoy. cheers Zoran 1
big Neil Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Beautiful to see you young people getting life's balance right. Working hard in responsible jobs and enjoying your leisure time together. What better way than taking to the river for some quality time doing what you both love to do? As always, a great post accompanying the storyline photos. Keep on keeping on guys. bn 2 1
Blackfish Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 That’s awesome you 2. We were up at Wauchope around the end of June and had lunch above the river just up from the boat ramp. Looking down we could see some great Bream moving along in the shallow water below us. Now where’s the theory they move out to the coast in Winter to spawn. PS. Great photos as well. Thanks. 1
mrsswordfisherman Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Lovely to see this guys. Great photos! Keep enjoying life 1
Burger Posted August 9, 2023 Posted August 9, 2023 Sounds like a great way to spend an arvo! I'm a ginger beer fan too. 👍 My staple is Brookvale Union . . . its on tap at our local RSL. 1

Yowie Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Very nice. Fish for the table and some for sport, and a good sized bass as a bonus. 1
Hoods Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 Thanks for the report Dave. Congrats on the mixed bag. How is the Boat Ramp following the floods?? And can you get down river past the bridge yet or is it still closed to boating? No need to fish further north now you can get em all up the Hastings. Hoods
