  6. Firstly play him out so when you have him boat side he is well worn out, definately no rush as you don,t want him still green boatside. Then place a flying gaff in the rear of him some where behind his dorsal fin and put a tail rope on him,as per photo then drive slowly this will eventually drown the shark. Before bringing him on board cut through back of neck and spine and leave out back of boat to bleed, then its just a matter of bringing him aboard,Hope this info helps mate. chris
  7. Headed out yesterday bright and early with a full days fishing in mind. Fisrt stop was Lilli Pilli to gather some live bait. Upon arrival I saw a boat engine on fire as well as other things. No-one was hurt, that's the main thing. It pays to check all your fuel lines, connections etc from time to time. Morning session was a leisurely stroll down the coast to Wattomalla gathering Bonito for our off shore session, they were everywhere, even picking them up two at a time on one lure. Great fun on light gear. We then headed out to the 150m mark and did a drift for a few flathead and a quick fix of a few leather jacket which are always around. It was now around 11:00am and I was itching to get out to the 400m mark for a troll. We trolled for a couple of hours for zero's....very, very quiet so we decided to do a little bit of bottom bashing and cubing. Nothing but leather jacket and one Perch from the bottom but the cube trail came to life having a 2m Mako swim up the trail. I quickly threw him a live bait and strapped myself in, gee he was hungry, it was instant hook up bzzzzzzzzzz This was when the real fun of the day started, peeling line off, jumping up in the air for us, I was having a ball. After 45 mins I had him boat side. Great feast to be had between all our families Out of the water by 6:30pm and straight home for the filleting....gees what a job but well worth the effort. It was great to catch something I've never caught before of size. Chris
  8. You make it look easy Great feed mate and very well done. chris.
  9. I,ve eaten lots of fish out of the georges river system just like other fishraiders all i can say is make sure the fish you keep for dinner look healthy as some you catch are throw backs ie they don,t look to be developed properly, colour texture etc.I,m with musty on this one they beat fast food chains chris.
  10. Hoping you catch a marlin on the weekend,i,m out on sunday for a troll with up graded hooks of my last trips let down. I think fishraider records need the fish measured correctly and i know where your coming from if you plan on tag and release.

  24. Thanks Moe. You and I gave it a good go over the last few seasons, I'm learning heaps as I go to increase my chances and like any fishing with persistance comes rewards. Glad to see you're still into Jew fishing, I think I converted you good and proper. I haven't been for a proper Jewfish session this year at all. Meng got a soapie the other night as you can see in the photo. Chris
  25. Totally right Groper, I thought Black Magic hooks were good....I learn't heaps from my last trip. I'm replacing all my stainless steel black magic hooks and going to Mustad Z Super Marlin Hooks.....very pricy from the States but worth it thanks to Mark from fishraider (boattart) who guided me towards these hooks. Can't wait to tackle with the next one over the coming weeks. Chris
