  1. Ah ok, I've only ever owned Marlin's & according to them you can self service for the life of the jacket as long as its for recreational use, most of the time you just need to replace the green firing indicator as it breakes when you test the firing mechanism. Still if changing to another brand their servicing schedule whether self or manifacturer needs to be looked at for sure so would need to look at those waist versions.
  2. Well its interesting that I cannot find a reference on any NSW gov webpage stating you cannot absolutely use type 1,2,3 lifejackets anymore but even in the legislation it does state that jackets shout be either level 50S or greater for enclosed waters or level 100 or greater for open waters. However again it does state that both these levels of jackets need to be AS 4758 So in saying that I would assume that any jacket being type 1, 2, or 3 does not meet AS 4758 so they cant be used?? https://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/view/html/inforce/current/sl-2016-0308#pt.6 As to the original article, well I give it little weight really seeing as its not from a governing body & actually states to check with your own states regulations.
  3. Not suprised that maybe some info does not correspond but again it does say make sure they comply with AS4758 Not sure what you mean by that but self service is annual for jackets but that is as per manufacturer service instructions
  4. Not that its got anything to do with when you advertise something & give your contact details?? I just give random callers the Jerry Seinfeld line when they call me I got a call once which was years ago & they said they were Microsoft & in a south Asian voice said my computer had been hacked. I said I don't have a computer & they said yes but it is being hacked sir, again I said I don't know how that can be because I don't have a computer ๐Ÿ˜ณ. They only need a small percentage of these thing to work of course, I just feel sorry for people you get caught in the net.
  5. Great example of a solid set of selling rules Zoran. Security should always be in the forefront of your mind when selling stuff, there have been some examples in both FB & GT market places where sellers have come to grief both at thier homes & elsewhere. Getting scammed online is one thing, getting mugged, stabbed or even murdered is another, you only have to google it, it happens! Only thing for me with ebay is they charge you 10% of sale price & I think paypal take 1.5% or 2% of deposited money so you have to either try & add that on which is hard as you go higher up the price scale or choose a site that has a set advertising price which is sometimes way more economical.
  6. Thats what I would expect from Gumrtee & FB market place!! Time wasters I said it before, Im prepared to pay to advertise on sites like carsales.com.au or bikesales.com.au to cut out all the riffraff that you find on free sites It was probably closer to 3 years ago, in the space of 4 weeks I had sold, a motorhome, a car & 4 vintage motorcycles all via the sites I just mentioned & all pretty painless sales & negotiations with very few genuine offers. Car sold within 24hrs, others a little longer. The only sale not done face to face was the bike to Tassie but still was easy to do. The only things I put on Gumtree are small itmes like swag, tents, camping gear etc, all pick up only. But I try to avoid using GT at all if possible for that reason.
  7. I would never expect to pay someone elses freight charges, they want it they can come get it! The exception is some smaller items I sell via Ebay where offering free freight hightens the chances of a quick sale, but not a car or really anything over 5kg even. Even then, I factor the postage into the sale price, they either buy it or they dont ๐Ÿ˜‰
  8. Another thing Frank is while you say they have cars there, more than likely cars in other states & remote are all over priced & it can cheaper for someone look at a vehicle in another state, pay shipping or come & get it & it would still be cheaper for them. Some area's also have limited supplies!
  9. I sold a vintage motorcycle to a buyer in Tasmania a couple of years ago. After a couple of phone calls I emailed him my account details, the account detailsI sent him were an account that had no money in it so its not like they can take any money out. The funds came through while he was arranging shipping to Tasmania. As soon as the funds were in my account($11,000) I tranfered it to another account. He got his freight handler to pick up the bike 7 days later. Deal done. I have done plenty of sales of different items the same way, when I see the money I send the item. The would be person who is trying to scam you would have to have a lot of personal information about you already, yes there are people out there trying this stuff but if they dont want to call you & ask about intimate details about the item then it would sound sus.
  10. You won't know unless your feel & touch them. Some have zero insulation between the walls & others do. You can't asses everything buy looking at pictures on the net. My advice is go & look & handle/squeeze the items 1st hand.
  11. Where would we do without the internet?? Yep there is nothing you cant research via the WWW & if Im doing researching its my primary search facility in every format, youtube, websites, whatever. Not saying this isnt the right place for this discussion but its why I am also part of the 4x4 Earth community where camping & 4x4 is its basis & there is a lot more info available on the subject. We all have a solution that suits us & its a fluid thing, I have 2 swags & 2 tents, on a particular trip one is selected over the other to suit the conditions/trip, hell sometimes I take both because I can ๐Ÿ˜‰ At the end of the day there is not one solution & really its all about budget as usual. The Oztrail RV's are great, with add ons available, the other option is the RX series which I would prefer but again more money. So really as usual imo its about having a budget & finding a solution that suits your purpose. When the OP replies to me stating he is looking for economical family adventures Hey, I really would like something like a MCD Jackson but I dont have $20K spare. @Little_Flatty just to put it to rest, what is your actual budget please so the input is more applicable?
  12. Yes I just read & posted just as yours came up, they look pretty good & great value as well! I would have thought they woulde be a lot more than that. Hope it all works out
  13. I didnt see the schematic of the 12x24, makes sense now.
  14. Ah so the 12x24 is the 3 battery option, I missed that bit down the bottom of the page. So the Tollbridge is the isolator, Im running a bit slow today ๐Ÿ˜‚ Thats pretty good value as well! IF I had the coin Id be going Lithium's, about 1/3 the weight of AGM's & 40% more usuable charge & probably 150% more charge/discharge cycles. Depending on brand & how you treat them a 12V AGM will get about 600 cycles while a lithium cam get up to 2000 cycles. But they are so expensive.
  15. So there is a 12x24 & a 24. The 12x24 sounds like it protects the started from over discharge but the 24 doesnt? Using batteries in parallel isnt something that I would want to do normally so wouldnt it just be better as you suggest to have a 3rd battery & run the 3 in parallel but just run an VSR isolator between the starter & the other 2 batteries when running the electric motor but they still charge off the alternator?? Just asking ๐Ÿ™‚
  16. Welcome aboard. There are a heap of threads on here about Broughton if you do a search but not many that would be specific to land based & not sure why you would limit yourself to land based if you need a boat to get there, is it just dropping you off? https://www.fishraider.com.au/search/?&q=broughton&page=1&search_and_or=or&sortby=relevancy Will be interesting to hear what locals like @Scratchie have to say but I think you could catch pelagics from just about anywhere, probably more so off rock ledge areas. Just be a matter of being in the right place at the right time, ballooning live baits & using heaps of burley. Just be aware of the sanctuary zones around some of those eastern areas as per the marine park map.
  17. Its a bit like the warnings on cigarette packets that show graphic images of gangrene feet, throat cancers, toe tags on dead people, but people see this as they open a packet & light up.............................they somehow think it will never happen to them ๐Ÿคจ Another example is road side signs that give you statistics of how many people have been killed & injured on a particular stretch of road & as you read it someone zooms past you overtaking on a blind corner over double yellow lines. You just cant educate the stupid out of some people!
  18. I don't think they are offensive to people I think they are offensive to children but some aren't made.for children's viewing. Would you let your yound kids watch south park or beavis & butthead? No way I would. In the old days it was about good natured entertainment now it's about shock & profanity.
  19. I also think the Wanderer tents are ok as well for the price. I think your probably looking for a 6 person dome which there are many types & I would also be looking at the ones with an annex attachment at the front that is also fully floored which can be used for storage & if it rains its also pretty much as water tight as the tent. https://www.a shop.com.au/p/wanderer-magnitude-dome-tent-6-person/594901.html?cgid=BCF0215 https://www.a shop.com.au/p/wanderer-geo-elite-42env-dome-tent-6-person/361867.html?cgid=BCF0215 As usual work out what you want & shop around, there are some pretty good sales on atm! Personally Id like to have enough to buy a camper trailer, even the lower end ones these days are pretty well kitted out. Good luck whatever you get
  20. Tents are hard to suggest as we all have different views of that is an ideal way of camp living, some people are happy with tents just for the sleeping area only & have additional attachments for relaxing & cooking while others like to have larger multiple room tent so they can sprawl out. I use a Coleman poly 4 man tent just for myself, I use a double self inflation mattress & also allows enough room for my bags etc, will it fit 4 people, sure, 4 people with single mattresses & no room to swing a cat in. All I will say is from my experience is look at the size tent you need for 4 people then double the size, they are never big enough. Its really good if you can get to a show like the Rosehill caravan & camping show as you can see the tents up & get in them, feel the material etc, hopefully it will go ahead this year in April- https://www.supershow.com.au/ I am a fan of Coleman & Oztrail tents & like the idea of being able to attach an annex or additional rooms to. The Poly tents are good for mild to hot weather while the canvas more for cool to cold weather so its hard to just have one tent, I also have a canvas awning tent as well I use in cooler weather. Budget, well I'd say $500 to $1000
  21. Cant help it, now they just keep coming to me ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Fantastic Four Ricochette Rabbit Superman Spiderman Aquaman Astro Boy Marine boy Pink Panther Fantastic Voyage G force-Battle of The Planets
